Absolutely, once you have more than 1 instrument enter the equation under no circumstances can you be considered hip hip.
In all seriousness though I consider them to be hip hop, I guess it's just they're further from "rap". I was unsure if I should allocate them from a monetary standpoint under the hip hop acts or another band segment.
having Big K.R.I.T., Cunninlynguists, or Curren$y play on Thursday night would be a great way to start the party. Big K.R.I.T. would probably be the best show.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.

For hip-hop? Eh, IDK really. I'm a huge hip-hop head but for the most part its just not a genre that translates well to the live setting unless its on a huge stage like Jay-Z or Kanye (Eminem failed miserably). For example I love A$AP Rocky's mixtape but from what I've heard his live show leaves something to be desired. So while it would be cool to see him on the lineup I'm not even sure I would end up seeing the set. I was also really excited for Jay Electronica in 2010 in what turned out to be a lackluster set.
So really, as much as I enjoy the current state of hip-hop (A$AP Rocky, Shabazz Palaces, Currensy, Kendrick Lamar, Blu to name a few) none of them would get me all too excited as far as a show at Bonnaroo goes.
Regardless, The Roots being on the lineup would make me real happy as they are one of the few who translate very well to a live setting, as would a Mos Def (Or Yasiin I guess now) solo set. Black Star would be cool too but I just saw that show a couple months ago so again I dont know if I would see it or not, would much rather see Mos solo. I would also love any form of Method Man, preferably solo or paired with Redman. From what I've heard a full Wu-Tang set is just too chaotic to enjoy, and Meth is my favorite from the group so I'd gladly take just him.
Also I will never miss an OFWGKTA show, just because of how much damn fun it is to be in the middle of that pit screaming out the words. inb4Juggshatingduetolackofmusicianship. Sometimes you just go to a show to have a good time. And Im slightly embarassed to admit that if Lil B were to show up on the poster I would at least check out the set, if not only to be in the presence of the Based God for just a minute.
Also D'Angelo is now on my wishlist as of last night
I dont know if it would translate as well, but I saw Digable Planets about 5 years ago and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. I hope that Shabazz Palaces would still bring some of that know how.

Yeah out of that group they are the one act that I feel like they could put on a pretty good show. They are also the ones I would be the most excited for out of that group.
Unfortunately when I asked them a couple weeks ago if they were booked they said no so I dont think its happening. Roo doesn't book that good of hip-hop music anyway, we get Mac Miller instead
