yes! They are definitely on my mp3 player for when I go to the gym. I don't know if any of you have heard them but the Black Keys/Big Boi mash ups are perrrrfect for the gym.
They're both going to be at Roo this year. hmm... Have Big Boi and Keys ever played together before?

Got turned on to these guys a few years ago and couldn't stop listening to Attack & Release. Brothers is a solid album and I love just about every track on it. "Next Girl" and "Sinister Kid" are two of the best songs I've heard in such a long time. My wife loves "Howlin' for You." Can't wait to see these guys on the Farm.
The Black Keys are the reason I'm coming to Bonnaroo for the 1st time this year. I'd never heard of them when 2011 started, but a friend turned me onto them in February, and I downloaded Rubber Factory, The Big Come Up, Thickfreakness and Brothers. I love this band!
Brothers is a little different, but they ventured out a little. Adding a choir and some other instruments WAS different, but not in a bad way. Thickfreakness and Rubber Factory-these are very good albums.
Definitely to each his own, as laggy said. This is probably sacrilege, but I have tried and tried but just don't get Radiohead. I guess that's why 80,000 people gather in a big field, huh?
Been to a couple of their shows. Good, not great. Auerbach actually leaves a lot to be desired for me from a guitarist standpoint. Carney was better than I expected him to be though.
They're one of those bands, I'd probably go check out casually more often if: A) They weren't getting so huge. B) The crowds they attracted to their live shows weren't as obnoxious as I've found them to be.
The biggest difference between going to a White Stripes show and a Black Keys show is Stripes fans were there for the music and people who go to Keys shows seem to be there to hang out, talk and be part of a scene.

i dont know what shows you have been too. ive seen them 6 times now, and every time ive seen them it has been nothing more then just a raw, dirty rock show.
every time ive left, soaked in sweat, and exhausted from the energy the show, and the crowd brings.

Yea I really disagree here dudezer. I can't comment on the Stripes since I never got to see them live, but it seems like you made a pretty big blanket statement there.

That is what I am thinking their show would be like, Raw, Dirty and Funky Nasty! I am excited! Missed them last year, due to Flaming Lips, which was an amazing way to start the Friday night! That will not happen this year.
Scrog you won't be disappointed. The best decision I made last year was to catch them Friday over the Flaming Lips. And all the other ppl we were with that went to Flaming Lips had second thoughts about their choice. They're a kick ass stage-worthy band and their set will be packed. They're still the #1 added act on Discover Bonnaroo by a lot.
There's a possibility that Grace Potter might bring some of her spitfire energy (and oh-so-short dresses) to the Black Keys' show. She's been known to jam w/other bands at fests & did so the last time she played 'Roo.
About 2mos ago, I participated in an online chat w/her. When I asked "Who would you most like to perform with - possibly at Bonnaroo?" she answered "Dan Auerbach." So let's see what happens...I have a feeling it could be one hellaciously energetic gig. Oooh yeah!
I like all of their albums. From oldest stuff up to Brothers.
I like attack and release as well as brothers too. Just not as much as any of their older material. Albums like thickfreakness, rubber factory, magic potion and the big come up have a rawness and power to them that their two newest albums don't.
The newer albums have more of a polish to them. I respect the direction they went in with attack and release but I felt like danger mouse had too great of an influence in their sound on that album. Brother is also a really good album (better than attack and release IMO) but I feel like it doesn't have the same character so to speak as an album like rubber factory where they recorded the songs in the abandoned rubber factory floor and stairwells.
Got this set list from their site, It is from a show this April at Mesa Amphitheater, in Mesa, AZ.
Thickfreakness Girl is on my Mind 10 AM Automatic The Breaks Stack Shot Billy Busted (kicked ass!) Act Nice and Gentle Everlasting Light Next Girl Chop and Change Howlin' for You Tighten Up She's Long Gone Ten Cent Pistol (freaking kickass!) I'll Be Your Man Strange Times (awesome!) I Got Mine
Encore: (got the crowd to chant "Black Keys") Sinister Kid Your Touch
Most the other set list looked the same. I like all their work, but I was introduced to the Black Keys backwards. I started listening to Brothers and Attack & Release, then Magic Potion, and on to Rubber Factory followed by ThickFreakness and Big come up. I see the changes, but I do not skip any of their songs. They are all good to me.

This is what makes me really love the Black Keys. Almost every single one of my favorite bands has songs I dont like. I honestly dont think the Black Keys have ever made a bad song

Am I the only one who was slightly disappointed in this show/ with dan in general? They had one of the best slots for an hour and a half, only played just over an hour. Superjam last show in that tent, started late, ended on time. it was like dan just didn't want to play and was just playing to get it over with.
