I already saw the 360 tour and it sucked balls! And I'm saying this as someone who got free floor tickets to the show. Up close, didn't pay, still felt like i was ripped off. The Stones are no better, I saw them twice and they were fairly boring both times (in fact I left early the second time out).
Resigned to getting one of the two and I won't be one of the complainers, I will gladly recharge and prep for late nights.

not a big U2 fan at all, but I would see them if they were there at least some of their set). I'd actually prefer them over most of the other classic rock ideas being thrown around. This would be a good get for bonnaroo
Agreed. This place is unusually entertaining for this part of the year... much more fun than the months leading to Roo, where I thought this place was going down the crapper.
I saw them in Atlanta during the Popmart tour and it was solid. They mixed the set up with old and new material. Teased songs relevant to the area like REM. The show was days after Micheal Hutchence died. They played a snippet of Never Tear Us Apart and ended the show playing the studio track over the speakers, with his image on all the screens.
I'm down with seeing them again. If they played Red Hill Mining Town; I might just mess myself.

All for it. Saw them on the 360 tour last year. It was a great show. Yeah, Bono's a hack, and their past couple albums haven't been great, but they still put on a fantastic live set. Lots of sing-a-longs too. Would be perfect for 'Roo
As long as they play a lot of their stuff from the 80s, I'm perfectly ok with U2 being there.
Their last few offerings haven't been so great IMO, and Bono is universally recognized as a douche. But I do like the 80s era music. And as said previously, if they play Red Hill that would be nice.
Devoting time to help others, with or without pretense, is a positive thing in my book. Think of all of the artists who have played Bonnaroo who may not use their money to help anyone out other than themselves. I think what he does is important and very noble. People seem to think he considers himself to be some sort of martyr or messiah figure, but he's using his position and name in a very positive way. So in short, f.uck the haters.

It seems allot of the U2 hatred has subsided... cool.
don't worry i still hate them. nah, i really don't but i do dislike bono. i can't even put my finger on why. he has just always rubbed me the wrong way.

I view Bono the same way I view Wayne Coyne, they both excel in making music for the masses, but on the mic they can be annoying at times.
You have to accept people for the quirks they have, The Flaming Lips wouldn't be who they are with out Wayne, and same for U2 with Bono. As stated above, Bono uses his precipice to make things better in the world for many other people. Wayne tries to deliver a positive impact as well. Sometimes I just wish he would shut up at times, but I can deal with it. He gives great hugs if you have the chance to meet him.
I am perfectly willing to accept their quirks to have an amazing experience when they perform live.
I wish all people were more willing to accept others in this way. Some people can't find that common ground.
U2 would be incredible at Bonnaroo. I'm hoping for it.

i bet those glasses he's wearing in that picture would feed those children's families for a year
having said that, i really don't care one way or the other whether he has an agenda for his charity work. as someone said, at least he's doing something and getting the word out. plenty of people don't do anything at all.
U2, however, would keep me away from the farm more than it would draw me to it.
