I think Crash is the best album. When I became a fan I was drawn in by Dave himself but became a fan because of the band. Carter Beauford is one of the greatest drummers of all time.
Carter is the man. You can't compare his style of drumming to anyone else. My brother went to school for percussion (later switched to music business) and is still amazed at what Carter does. He's all over the kit, rarely plays the normal high hat/snare licks, but somehow manages to keep time. I know a lot of people who don't like DMB because of Carter's drumming. It can sound choppy at times. It's an acquired taste. Personally I love it when he jams with Jeff Coffin during #41 now. It's so damn jazzy.

Those #41's are amazing for sure, pretty much the only time I get overly excited for a 20+ minimum minute song. For the person who asked about where to start with DMB album's, I would say don't mess with the studio stuff, just go straight for the jugular and get Central Park. Epicness will ensue

I said this in the other DMB thread but I'll say it again. I'm a huge DMB fan. If the rumors of him Friday night are true and he plays late night then I have the biggest conflict ever. Now that the Flaming Lips are confirmed to be doing their epic DSOTM show Friday late night I need to see that. If they go up against DMB I will be so conflicted.
