WOW, was thinking that if he was at Roo he would be a fri or sat headliner. This is actually pretty awesome. I have never seen DMB so I am excited for it to be the Sunday closer.
I'm alright with this... have never been that big of a fan, either. But, I've always said I'd like to go to one of his shows, especially if it was at Roo, to see what all the hype is about.
Maybe I'll like it, maybe I won't. But I owe it to myself to give him a shot.
It will be easier to enjoy him on a Sunday evening as well I think. I want something a little more energetic for Fri and Sat and he just doesn't fit that. Come Sunday most of us will be tired and it will be a nice show to just relax to.
I can't stand Dave Mathews...but if he's playing the Sunday slot it's not the end of the world for me. I'm usually so tired at that point I don't have a huge amount of energy to be rockin' hard to anybody. I'll just be chillin' at the back or back at the tent.

I guarantee you that you will not regret it They are all great musicians and really put on an awesome show every time. Jeff Coffin playing with them makes it even better!

Got to agree with the consensus here. Give the records a shake, for sure, but the live shows are great.
For a taste, listen to Live from Central Park; the whole thing is pretty kick-a$$. But don't take my word for it...
Damn, that Two Step still gives me goosebumps....
Totally agree, the Central Park Concert is probably my favorite of all the DVDs. Two Step (as always) is amazing, and my other favorite on this is Granny. I'm very excited to see them at Roo!

I would love to have Dave play Bonnaroo if all his frat boy fans would stay home. Don't get me wrong... many DMB fans are great people. However, a large majority of the fans he attracts are Summers breeze bag frat boys who get wasted and act a fool. This past sumer I went to both nights of DMB at Deer Creek. If I had a dollar for every fight I witnessed I could probably pay for next years roo ticket. On top of that many of the people their just wanted to socialize. Many of the people around me spent the entire show gossiping and paid very little attention to the band they paid $50 to see. To top it all off I was welcomed back to my campsite by a burning couch. I don't know what is so cool about burning couches, but frat boys get off on it. They picked a spot 20 feet from my tent and started burning couches. It didn't take long until every frat boy Summers breeze bag in the campground (I stayed on sight at the Varizon campground) was running circles around and jumping over the burning couch. There must have been at least 100 of them. As they circled the flaming couch they all chanted one more couch, one more couch. Sure enough in came another couch, and another, and another, and another (no clue where they got all these couches). Before to long the cops showed up to put an end to the Summers breeze baggery. However the crowd resisted and began chanting quack the cops and throwing beer bottles @ the cop car. Next thing you know there are about 50 police officers in full riot gear (some of them had "corn" sniffing dogs with them). Long story short: after an awesome show all I wanted to do was come back to camp, relax and eat some corn. Instead I spent the evening guarding my cooler (I caught several people trying to steal beer out of it) and making sure they didn't burn my tent or any of my belongings. Then the corn dogs show up so no eating for me. Frat boy DMB fans ruined my good time. Once again... I love DMB... just not the people he attracts.
PS. This incident is on youtube please check it out for yourselves. Search DMB couch fire, and or DMB burning down the couch.
I know this was a couple of pages ago, but if you are paying $300 for a ticket you are coming to see more then DMB. Sure there will be some that do, but very small % if that is what you are worried about.
I couldn't be more excited to have DMB on the farm this year! While I'm looking forward to hearing the great live jams such Jimi Thing, Two Step, and #41. I'm eagerly looking forward to the collaborations that maybe going on, I'm thinking that there will be a good chance that Robert Randolph is there (given that he has been at roo on every even year) which will lead to a killer jam. I'm also really pulling for the Neil Young rumor for Friday's headliner, so that he may stick around to jam with Dave on The Maker or Down By The River!! I'm also really hoping that DMB pulls out a Watchtower cover for us all, their cover of that song is pretty legendary. In case you haven't noticed, I'm so excited!!!!!!!!!!

I don't want us to get ahead of ourselves, but if the DMB and Neil are there I can't see this NOT happening...

I just hope Neil is willing to stay around TN for a couple of days until DMB on Sunday.
in my experience, most of these inevitable collaborations never occur. plus, neil may not even be on the farm. but let's hope he is and he sits in with dave haha
I think Crash is the best album. When I became a fan I was drawn in by Dave himself but became a fan because of the band. Carter Beauford is one of the greatest drummers of all time.
