I think I've posted in this thread... but I'm just thinking more elaborately right now....
Feel-Good Show: Tie between Beck at Roo '06 and Alice In Chains-lite in Myrtle Beach, '06. Beck was fun as hell, with everyone dancing and a damned solid musical performance to boot. AIC was great, and though people can say what they want about the decision to tour with a new singer, everyone there was there to commemorate one of their favorite bands. They welcomed the new singer with open arms and everyone was singing along and having a freaking blast.
Musically Awe Inspiring: Tie between Tortoise and Ornette Coleman, both at Roo last year. Tortoise was absolutely amazing, and I don't really need to go further for those of you who saw the show. Same goes for Ornette Coleman. Best 45 minutes of music I've ever seen, and, quite bluntly, an incredibly inspirational moment... the man gave us his all until he, literally, could give no more... Amazing.
Emotionally Charged: Radiohead at Roo '06 and Ornette Coleman. The most amazing thing about this, is that they were simply doing what they do. And it was incredible. Not so emotional for me, but seeing how much everyone was impacted by this show makes it credible enough. Fantastic show, and also one of the best overall I've ever seen. For my reasoning for Ornette Coleman, see above.
Best Overall Musical Experience: Nine Inch Nails, Atlanta 05. Awesome show. Everything was phenomenal. The musical performance was spot on, and they experimented with some of their older songs also, which was cool as hell. Fantastic energy, everyone loved the show. My favorite band of all time, so that's always a plus . Not to mention that the build up for the show ( the party favors involved, the bands that opened, the people I saw the show with...) made it that much more special for me... I can't wait for Trent to tour the States, once again.
Grateful Dead shows at RFK stadium Phish - Big Cypress Tool at Bonnaroo this year John Butler Trio - Sep 07 Dave Matthews Band - All of their shows are amazing imo
I've been to hundreds of shows but those are the ones that really stand out for me.
Good to see another JBT experienced inforooer out there. They play everywhere every year and are always amazing but somehow don't get quite the credit. One of the most emotional performers and most beautiful songwriters of our time but way under heard still. I've seen them three times. On a beach at sunset w/ about 60 people, in a civic center and at bonnaroo and in not one way could i complain about them. If you l ike music you must treat yourself to John Butler.
1) Pink Floyd - Feb 27, 1980 The Wall - Nassau Coliseum. Hans down the single greatest concert experience I have had. Unlikely (impossible?)to be beat. 2) Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band - 12/9/1980 - The Spectrum, Philadelphia The day after John Lennon died. I had a friend who worked in NYC at the Hit Factory Studio (Where Lennon recorded Double Fantasy), I had to pick him up for the drive down to Philly. I decided to head in early and go up to the Dakota. That was a scene I will never forget -Hundreds of people spontaneously showing up with candles and flowers at like 1:00 in the afternoon. VERY sad. I was not and still am not much of a Springsteen fan But Holy Cats! The boss could totally bring it in his live act. Amazing energy- turned a bad day around. -Setlist: 1 Born to run 2 Out in the street 3 10th. ave. freeze-out 4 Darkness 5 The Price You Pay 6 Independence day 7 Two hearts 8 Prove it all night 9 Promised land 10 Racing in the street 11 The River 12 Badlands 13 Thunder road 14 Cadillac ranch 15 Sherry darling 16 Hungry heart 17 Fire 18 Candy's room 19 Because the night 20 4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy) 21 For You 22 Stolen Car 23 Wreck on the Highway 24 Point blank 25 Rendez-vous 26 Ramrod 27 You can look 28 Drive all night 29 Rosalita 30 Santa Claus is comin' to town 31 Jungleland 32 I'm a rocker 33 Detroit Medley 34 Twist and Shout

Honorable Mention: John Butler Trio - Webster Hall, NYC 5/24/07 Leaning on the stage right in front of John is not a bad thing. IMO these guys need more respect.
I've been to hundreds of shows and only a couple have disappointed but the most memorable are:
All time favorite, so happy I started crying: U2 in Hamilton, Ontario, October '01. 9/11 was still palpable in the air and it was eerie crossing the border into Canada for the first time since. It was a small venue and such an emotional show. I had seen them the previous May in Buffalo and it was amazing but nothing prepared me for this show.
The unforgetable "first" show: Guns N' Roses opening for Aerosmith in Saratoga in 1988. It was such a turning point in my young life and this was when they were so badass and dangerous. I was so hooked. (Aerosmith's set was also good but mainly consisted of me realizing how many songs of theirs that I knew. I think I thought that Permenant Vacation was the first big album!!!!) Edit: Actually, it was my second show after attending Charlie Daniels/Alabama/Belamy Bros with my 'rents in '86ish.
Honorable mention: Pearl Jam at Lolla '92 in Saratoga. It started pissing out and the crowd essentially all forced itself under the roof of the amphitheatre. PJ were at their angsty, exuberant peak.
Unforgetable Venue: Big and Rich at CBGB's in '04. It was a cool set and I ended up on a CMT special that they were filming there. More importantly, I got to see a show at CBGB's!!!! (Scariest bathrooms ever.)
Tool @ Bi-Lo center in Greenville, SC (first time they play flood that tour) Tool @ Roo 07 JBT @ Roo (2nd row.. thank god for my staff bracelet) Xmas Jam 06 - this lineup was crazy good, the highlight for anything I have seen has to be John Popper, Taylor Hicks, Mickey Raphael all on stage with New Orleans Social Club, and Branford Marsalis. All this and I was about 10 rows back, doesnt get any better than that.
Hey, Jude, don't be afraid. You were made to go out and get her. The minute you let her under your skin, Then you begin to make it better.
And any time you feel the pain, Hey Jude, refrain. Don't carry the world upon your shoulders. Well don't you know that it's a fool who plays it cool By making his world a little colder.
Tool - Lateralus tour 2001 in Orlando Roger Waters DSOTM May 2007 in Tampa Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth warm up tour Tabernacle in Atlanta Stone Temple Pilots - 2002 tour in support of SLDD at Hard Rock Live

Easily Radiohead at 'roo '06. My jaw dropped on the ground once, and stayed there. They brought me to tears with beautiful versions on Exit Music and How to Disappear, made me smile in excitement with blistering versions of The Bends and Myxomatosis, and made me dance my ass off with funky versions of There, There and Idioteque (they may as well have dropped an atom bomb on that place, because they went crazy!). When it was all said and done, I had to find a tree to sit under by myself to collect myself. That night is truly the greatest night of my life.
The Lips last year were on another fuckin' planet, and they bring up a VERY strong second!
Randolph gets my best live experience "lifetime achievement" award. The worst Randolph show I've seen is still better than 90% of shows I've been to.
But as for the best single shows I've seen, it's gotta be a tie between Radiohead in '06 and Mule in '07.
I will first say that RRFB at Bonnaroo '04 and New Years Eve '05 are two of the best concerts I have been to in regards to energy. I have seen this band many times, and for the most part always enjoyed. However, the past tour I saw them twice in Atlanta and Birmingham and left with a very bad taste in my mouth. They just seemed to lack the energy or spark that is normally associated with a Robert Randolph show. Maybe it was the songs form the new album that were not flowing, I don't really have an answer. I hope that they come back to form this year. I look forward to seeing what Robert will do at Bonnaroo this year.
Flaming Lips (Atlanta, GA) Tabernacle Sept 2006 - On the rail, first Flips experience. U2 (Atlanta, GA) Philips Arena March 2001 - on the rail, in the heart.
06 radiohead at roo for sure. seen plenty of great concerts but the one that stands out more than any would be Medeski, martin & wood @ beacon theater halloween night in 2003. it was an amazing show plus me and my friend got front row tix for like $20.
also beastie boys at voodoofest 2004. that was a pretty damn good show.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - I was in 4th grade and it was my first concert...AMAZING
Radiohead - Roo 06...Not enough words in the universe to describe the feeling I got when they took the stage.
The Rolling Stones and Beck - Anything Beck does is amazing.
Warped Tour 05 - Back when 13 year old boys in girl pants and eyeliner didn't litter the show.
Say Anything acoustic show in Philadelphia - Back before they were huge...I went out to eat with them two nights before and the venue was sold out but the guitarist got me and a couple of friends in.
The Flaming Lips - Roo 07...oh dear sweet everything holy
Silversun Pickups - Mothers day gift to my mom...best gift I've ever given
Van Halen - a couple of months ago...I can see why they kept kicking David Lee Roth out.

Muse and Bjork both killed it at ACL last year. Bjork at Coachella last year was horribly unbelievably crowded, an amazing set with new songs never heard before, but at the expense of overheating or getting crushed. Literally about 50 people fainted and got crowdsurfed out. Beck and the Flaming Lips tour at the Will Rogers coliseum in Fort Worth. That 1 Guy whenever you see him for the first time will change your life. Buddy Guy at Billy Bob's he played the solo to Voodoo Child with one hand. Jesus Christ that was awesome. I also had to collect myself and sit under a tree after Tool, best relaxing moment of Bonnaroo, other than going to sleep listening to the end of shadow's set. Oh yeah and Roddrigo Y Gabriela last year was amazing.
Arcade Fire-ACL 07, on the rail, played Tunnels--->Power Out---->Rebellion--->Wake Up. It was life changing.
Thievery Corporation-ACL 06, My first festival set ever.
Explosions in the Sky-ACL 06, Mind-blowing.
M.I.A.-ACL 07, entertaining, but being able to jump on stage and getting to look at the crowd from an artist's point of view was stunning. (Probably my best live experience)
Modest Mouse-Lolla 07, beautiful set, especially when the kids started crowd surfing everywhere..

Honorable Mention: Nickel Creek - Bonnaroo 04(?). Rod y Gab - Bonnaroo 07. They absolutely blew me away. incredible!
3. Coldplay - 9/17/05 - St. Louis, Mo - Front Row and backstage/greenroom passes 2. U2 - 5/10/01 - Indianapolis, In - First U2 concert and Bono's birthday to boot 1. U2 - 10/10/01 -Notre Dame, In - Smallest venue they played in the U.S. and Bono brought out members of FDNY and NYPD during the encore. Just an absolutely life- changing/religious experience.
Now you just told me that friendship is all I'm forced to repair the breech in my wall Illusions and dreams, as usual, it seems Sabra girl, they've been my downfall

Arcade Fire vs. Muse at ACL this year was an incredibly tough decision, I saw Arcade Fire at Coachella, so I chose Muse and there is no way they could have rocked as hard as Muse did that night. Its all preference really, but two unbelievably killer shows at the same time. Muse - Starlight at ACL 2007 one of the best musical moments of my life.
-Oct 2003 saw the Red Hot Chili Peppers... and The Flaming Lips opened for them! (Why no one has talked of the goodness of the show of RHCP yet is interesting)
-Nov 2007 saw M.I.A in Worcester, MA (goddamn excited to see her again)
-Dec 31, 2007 - Together As One New Year's Eve Rave in Los Angeles with Sasha and Digweed
-Dec 2007- Disco Biscuits in Wallingford, CT
-Bonnaroo 2007 - Sasha & Digweed, String Cheese Incident, Superjam, John Butler Trio, Ben Harper, Girl Talk, Hot Chip, Gogol Bordello, Brazilian Girls, DJ SHADOW
