Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival 07'
I saw some music there I never thought I would see my whole life. From B.B King, to Jeff Beck to some Blind Faith it was just an incredible day of music.
"We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, movie gods, and rock stars. But we wont, and we're slowly learning that fact & we're very, very pissed off......."
Usually I just put this show "in the top five" chalking not knowing THE BEST up to possible memory "glitches".
But I've got to go with David Byrne at The Agora in Cleveland about 10 years ago. 4 or 5 costume changes, a couple a capella tunes, and a band that really were tight including horn section.
Saw a close runner up of Parliament Funkadelic on Halloween at the State Theatre in Cleveland, complete with Bootsy Collins and a landing of the Mothership--from the front row about 7 or 8 years ago.
A show has to stand the test of time for me before I can allow it into my hall of fame. Or it just wouldn't be fair to the hundreds(possibly a thousand or more) shows I've seen.
I'm sure some of my 20+ Grateful Dead shows are up there, too. But they kind of all melt together at this point !
Also saw Morphine for FREE at the City Park in Providence, RI on the water. At that time, at least, you could bring your own booze to the show as well.
Rounding out the top 5 would be seeing 2 of my favorite and more obscure bands-The Handsome Family and The Ass Ponys at the Mercury Lounge in NYC 3 weeks after 9/11/01.
Daft Punk - Lollapalooza07 (it was just EPIC - what a show)
Flaming Lips - Roo07
Marilyn Manson - most shows i saw on the antichrist superstar tour...especially the one in Montreal. one really early gig was pretty amazing too - at the "toad" in CT in probably 94.
Faith no More - always fantastic... shame they are gone.
U2 and Pink Floyd - both from Live8 in 05. i was really close to the front... they released birds during U2's beautiful day - i was weepy plus, ive never sang "unchained melody" with over 300K people before. floyds soundcheck the night before was awesome to listen to as well.. that was certainly a more rare performance to see than the actual show.
RATM - Lollapalooza 94? - the first live show i'd ever seen. you never forget your first. it was just raw energy flowing over the crowd. id never seen anything like it.
im probably forgetting some...
Edit! My Morning Jacket - Roo 06 latenight....woah!

Ben Harper--Roo '07 ^ you know i have to agree that was really great. i was alone for most of that show (my brother and friends were busy doing 'other things') but i was sitting on my blanket, listening and talking to some random ppl sittig next to me and the sun was going down so it wasnt that hot anymore and ben just sounded great. then when JPJ came out for dazed and confused, i stood up and turned around and my friends were walking towards me! its amazing how they found me in that huge crowd ;D its like you get roodar or something at the farm ;D
..hey roodar..i should at that to the bonnaroo dictionary!!!
