so po'd that i missed this. but what can you do. nada. i was at MMJ i think??? lol...
I was on my way there, but being a bit disoriented I ended up in the wrong tent. MMJ was tearing it up, so I stayed. I wasn't really familier with them before that. But I'd definately like to see them again. The Disco Biscuits won the battle of conflicting sets at Langerado, however.
I dont regret it really tho. Because MMJ was AMAZING. seriously... sooo therfore, I am okay with it.
Radiohead in philly at the tower in 06, Flaming Lips roo 07, and Rage at Rock the Bells in NYC this summer. 3 completely different shows. radiohead was the best musically, the lips was the happiest place one earth, and rage was insane, just hearing 40,000 people scream "fuck you i wont do what you tell me!" was an experience in itself.

Rage is a great fuckin' show. I saw them in 2000 and Zack actually stopped the show because a guy was harassing a girl in the pit area and had the guy thrown out. He said he wanted Rage shows to be a place where women would feel safe and they wouldnt put up with that crap. It was a thing of beauty.
- karma to my kick ass husband jmkm - besides the two he mentioned, Tom Petty at the Gorge Amphitheater in Washington and James Taylor in a small concert hall.

At Roo:
2005- STS9 latenight, Citizen Cope 2006-Phil Lesh and Friends 2007-Widespread Panic, Spearhead, The Wild Mardi Gras Indians (on energy alone), John Butler Trio (even though I almost passed out from the heat), Gov't Mule (even though I almost froze) silly weather!
Ever: Dave Matthews at Solgier Field STS9 at Redrocks Widespread Panic at the Chicago Theatre My Morning Jacket at the Vic Chicago Phil Lesh and Friends at Bonnaroo 2006
"If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has the power to move you, if the simple things in nature have a message you understand, Rejoice, for your soul is alive."
- The Wailers at Lollapalooza. During my interview with Aston "Family Man" Barrett (original bassist for Bob Marley and the Wailers), I said that I would be forever indebted to him if they played "One Love" during their set later that night... I had never heard any recordings of that song live, and it is by far my favorite song of all time. Elan (lead vocals) and Family both smiled, and said, "You'll hear it tonight!" We made sure we were right up front for their set, and in the middle of the set, I saw Family Man turn to their drummer and say "One Love, One Love!" He threw a total audible in the middle of their set, as he looked down at us and smiled. Elan pointed at us as the song started, and there it was, the magic moment of my first "One Love" live. (And I have it all recorded by my field recorder... It's on our Wailers podcast if anyone's interested) One of my favorite sets of all time. The overall feel of their set was beyond amazing.
- Singing a few songs onstage with Dickie Barrett (with just the 2 of us having mics) of the Mighty Mighty Bosstones at a sold out Electric Factory Show, then stage diving off afterwards.... Well, it was cool till the seas parted. I'm a big guy. Dumb mistake. Splat on the floor I went.
- Singing with the Dropkick Murphys (I was the lead singer in a punk/ska band), Goldfinger, Suicide Machines, Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake, Pennywise, and a few other bands at big sold out shows. I sang "Knowledge" by Operation Ivy with Goldfinger. Freakin' classic!
- Basically singing a song with Tim Armstrong of Rancid. I was front and center at Warped, and he came right down in front of me and we kept trading off lines on Roots Radicals. One of my fav bands of all time, and incredible to see live.
- LOL... Not exactly a concert, but WINNING on GSN's Chain Reaction with "The Goodfellas." Totally clutch performance. It's on YouTube if anyone wants to see the insanity.
- Rage Against the Machine during their Evil Empire tour. We were front and center against the barricade. I got bruised ribs, my bro passed out in the pit, and we got a few other assorted injuries, but it was still amazing. Def the most insane show that I've witnessed from the pit.
- Live 8 in Philly
- Daft Punk at Lolla this year. Beyond amazing. Vegoose's performance was great, but you couldn't beat the vibe at Lolla's performance.
- Rage at Vegoose - History was being remade in front of our eyes.
- Girl Talk at Roo (Mentioned before)
- Manu Chao at Roo
- Wolfmother at Roo
- Tool at Roo (Crazy times with GT in the crowd, and the performance was badass.)

I don't hit a lot of live shows, but one that will always stand out is:
They Might Be Giants Irving Plaza, NYC 1/27/01
This was the furthest I'd ever traveled for a concert, before Bonnaroo. I was at college in PA at the time, and me and four friends drove up for the weekend just for this. It was announced as a very special show wherein the band played their hit album "Flood" in its entirety. Turned out they opened for themselves, as a TMBG-cover band called The Sapphire Bullets, and each member had an alter-ego. They had a lot of banter about what meeting TMBG was like and how they acted backstage. And hearing "Flood" was wonderful. People often don't give this band enough credit for their musicianship, but they knew how to change up the songs just enough to keep them fresh, and they can really play. Then of course the real TMBG came on and played the best, most raucous show I've seen from them. They had a horn section, guest spots from Mike Doughty (sang "Your Mom's Alright") and Flans's wife Robin Goldwasser (sang the Austin Powers II theme "Dr. Evil"), and did two encores. It was a special night, and I'll remember it.
dj shadow was my favorite night show last year at the roo. i didn't want it to end. ween was my favorite daytime show.
primus in 06 at the tabernacle. they only played 10 songs and an encore all in an hour and a half but i couldnt shut up about it for a month afterwards.
Just a few off the top of my head. 1st time I saw Rush, March 1980, PW tour. Buckethead at the Mystic, March 04. Track down this boot, it kicks major ass! 1st time I saw Tool, Aug 1998 w/No Quarter for the encore! The Firm on their 2nd tour, as close to seeing Zep as I can imagine. Ozzy at the Warfield, late 80s. 10 ft from the stage in a small venue.
experimental jazz/rock band called Birth from Cleveland/NY that I saw 4 times, and each show has to be on my top live shows I've ever seen. Secret Chiefs 3 with Sleepytime Gorilla Museum was pretty damn good (Bring Estradasphere to roo!) Black Moth Super Rainbow with Small Sails was a great show just because my girlfriend and I were 2 out of at most 8 people in attendance, at a free show, where we literally just lied down in front of the stage as the bands played for us. Flaming Lips last year at roo had to be one of my favorite shows of all time too
I'll probably add to this or change it but for now...
John Butler Trio - roo 07 -so glad we had spray bottles filled with ice water. Radiohead - roo 06 Incubus - Marcus Amphitheater 2002 Xavier Rudd- Martyr's Chicago 2004 (very small bar setting and first time seeing him live-amazing) Seen him eight times since so I it must have been good right?!
Daft Punk - Vegoose 2007 "Primetime of your life, now live it" Makes me smile just thinking about it.
Pixies-> Radiohead - Coachella 2004 - Pixies reuniting after 11 years, and my favorite Radiohead show back to back.
Breeders -> Nirvana - Jacksonville 1993? - up front and personal, although Breeders left in the middle of their set since people were throwing shoes and stuff at them. That kinda sucked, but to see Kurt that close and see that he was really trying to do some different stuff musically.
Arcade Fire - Coachella 2005 - They were just starting to blow up and the crowd was buzzing. The backdrop of palm trees and mountains with the sun going down over them, as the band members were all freaking out and jumping on the columns. Pretty Pretty good.
Jon Spencer Blues Explosion -> Jesus Lizard - Covered Dish Gainesville 1993. This was a crazy show and the lead singer was definitely all for crowd interaction.
The other two times I saw Radiohead would probably trump a couple of those other shows, but I did not want to get redundant. I am definitely going to try to see them 4 to 5 times on this new tour. Hopefully, we will get some dates soon, so that I can plan my next adventure.

Musically?
Radiohead w/ Kid Koala Toronto Skydome October 2003 -Great seats, Great set..In fact I taped it with my MD recorder. Not a big HTTT fan but the other tunes they played blew me away. Kid Koalas opening DJ was also mindblowing. It's one of the best shows altogether I've ever seen.
Black Crowes EMU Convocation Center Oct. 2001 - Justa straightforward 2.5 hours of Crowes bliss. I've seen them 4 times and this show is the one cemented in my head as being the best musically. Beechwood Sparks opened and I'm not sure whatever happened to them but they also were great really spooky sounding if I remember correctly.
RATM - Detroit '96, Auburn Hills '97, Woodstock '99, Auburn Hills '99 -Every time just kick a$$, nuff said. Hope to see them again some day soon.
