I originally posted just Phish at Big Cypress and that is still my MOST awesome live experience but here's more...
Phil & Friends 4-20-00 (generous kids in the lot ) SCI & Keller late night Roo 02 (1st Roo late night) Disco Biscuits late night Roo 06 (my head was in a really good place) Mule late night Roo 07 moe. and DB @ Echo 07 (good people all around ;D )
I forget when, maybe 01?, Warren Haynes was touring with Phil, I saw them here in Charlotte. Warren belted out a Mr Fantasy that literally made me tear up. It made me love him forever.
Lollapalooza 94 WAS the first live show I'd ever seen, and Rage did not play that year.
Main stage: Smashing Pumpkins & Beastie Boys co-headlined George Clinton & P-Funk All-Stars the Breeders Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds L7 the Boredoms
Second stage: Flaming Lips Luscious Jackson the Frogs the Verve a couple other bands I can't remember, and some chanting Tibetan monks
Actually, that would probably have to go in my top five too...
You had P-Funk???? Damn. I went to Lollapalooza in '94 also. It was the same line-up except we had A Tribe Called Quest instead of P-Funk. I would have much rather seen P-Funk.
I totally forgot to include Tribe in that listing. They were both there. What a first concert experience.
Anyway, I should rattle off a quick Top 10 (in no particular order)
David Bowie, Milwaukee Theater - Milwaukee, May 04 Brian Wilson SMiLE tour, Overture Center - Madison WI, Oct 04 White Stripes/Flaming Lips, Aragon Ballroom - Chicago, NYE 03-04 Lollapalooza 94, Marcus Ampitheatre - Milwaukee, July 94 Jimmy Page & Black Crowes, Marcus Ampitheatre - Milwaukee, June 01 Radiohead, Grant Park - Chicago, August 01 Phish, Alpine Valley - East Troy WI, July 2K Sex Pistols, Eagles Ballroom - Milwaukee, August 96 Roger Waters (2nd set was Dark Side in its entirety), Marcus Ampitheatre - Milwaukee, July 07 Rolling Stones w/ Buddy Guy, Bradley Center - Milwaukee, Sept 05
Honorable Mention: Unlimited Sunshine tour (Cake, Flaming Lips, Modest Mouse, De La Soul, Hackensaw Boys), Aragon Ballroom - Chicago, (Oct 02?)
That's just the tours. Festivals are an entirely different animal and would require an entirely different list on my part.
White Stripes - Toronto - 05 My Morning Jacket - Bonnaroo - 06 Radiohead - Bonnaroo - 06 Arcade Fire - Toronto - 07 Flaming Lips - Bonnaroo - 07 The Black Keys - Bonnaroo - 07 Neil Young - Detroit - 07

I wish I could say Led Zeppelin...but I can't...I was born in 81 and I couldn't go last night...but to those who did go, I have a feeling that I know what your best show ever was...

i saw them a few times back in the day, and actually the first time they played in the US (Denver) but its been so long, i need a zep fix ... canx**
Hands down, Roger Waters in Sept. 06. Seeing your musical idle 10 rows out gave me chills that I don't think I'll ever get again.
Black Sabbath at Ozzfest in '03 was great too, they put on a great show in Ozzfests last good year.
Rodrigo and Gabriela were great last year at Roo. I had no idea who they were, but I was drawn to their stage and ended up seeing one of the most energetic shows of my life. Been a fan ever since
Pink Floyd- Division Bell Tour at Ohio Stadium U2- even though it was the Pop Mart tour Ohio Stadium My Morning Jackets "Beyond Thunderdome" performance at Roo Jackson Brown - Riverbend Music Center
i'd second the filthy lucre tour of the sex pistols back in the 90's. I have a permanent scar from that one!
That show was simply amazing. It was two days after I turned 16. I actually put off getting my driver's license to go see it, which was a HUGE deal at that age. I didn't get any permanent scars, but that doesn't mean I didn't get plenty beat up in that crowd. Some guy rushed on the stage and shoved Johnny Rotten off the stage into the area in front of the barricade. My teenage self was ecstatic to touch the man. Then the stage rusher got smacked upside the head with the bassist's guitar and taken away. It was quite amusing. It roughed me up so bad I threw up after the show. It was arguably the roughest crowd I've ever seen at a concert. Definitely in the top three, along with Slayer and Rage Against the Machine.
I think for me, it was John Butler Trio at 9:30 in DC in November '07. I thought I loved them after Roo 06, but in a smaller setting, they were just amazing.
There have been other, bigger shows, but this was a perfect jewel of a show.

Agreed. Guster at 9:30 was amazing as well. I don't think I've ever seen a bad show there. It's just a perfect place.
*Roger Waters 07, Tampa... I was thinking going into this that "Well, at least it's something Floyd, but still no Gilmour "... ROFL! WOW, It felt like i droped some kind of substances (which will go nameless here), but I was stone cold sober! Best... 4 hour... ride... home... ever!
*STS9 07, Bonnaroo... My first time EVER seeing them in person... WOW, Tool and Radiohead went from my #1's to tied for #1 with STS9...!
Coldplay, Tampa 05 was front row center.. flaming lips roo 07 and echo 07 still felt the love rage against the machines, NYC 07 rock the bells smashing pumpkins, asheville 07 korn, incubus, and hed pe 98, my 2nd concert and i was with my dad, great experience my dad had the lead singer of hed pe give me a shout out on stage.. although he called me willy i still felt proud and first show ever rolling stones and santana, 94? i was little my parents dragged me but after that night i was addicted to live shows..
i've been to shows since 1982 . i love them all but never ever seen anything like umphreys and disco biscuts latenite at roo
so po'd that i missed this. but what can you do. nada. i was at MMJ i think??? lol...
I was on my way there, but being a bit disoriented I ended up in the wrong tent. MMJ was tearing it up, so I stayed. I wasn't really familier with them before that. But I'd definately like to see them again. The Disco Biscuits won the battle of conflicting sets at Langerado, however.
