i'm totally relaxed. i'm just warning people. and informing people because if they believe it won't happen, they are wrong. i have came across a few people that are going mainly for tool, believe it or not. i have came across a few people that are going mainly for tool, believe it or not.
that's fine and all, but that doesn't mean they are going to ruin anything for anyone else jsut because they are tool fans and at the festival.

Just a question for the people that have been a majority of Roos's, how many people do you usually see moshing? I would probably guess very few. The fans of roo wont allow a bunch of douchebags (such a great word in opinion, but I digress) ruin a show period. You will not see a meathead Tool fan drive in traffic for awhile, get in line, camp for 4 days, and pay 250 dollars to just see Tool, when they can see them in an arena for 55 dollars. I promise you there will not be too many of those meatheads at roo (at least I believe). By the way most of the hippies, fans of roo in general, know that Superfly is not going to book a band if it is going to cause mass hysteria. They do not want to ruin the vibe either, just like all of us. Also from what I hear a lot of people are excited about finally seeing Tool and do not like that kind of music that much. It is going to be an experience and everyone is going to enjoy. End of discussion about Tool ruining Roo. No one is bitching about the electronic acts, and in my opinion they can bring a whole different and shady crowd along with them, but has it ever gotten out of hand at roo. Not from what I have heard. People get your panites out of a bunch about Tool and the Police bringing fans that are going to ruin the experience. It wont for me and I will leave it at that.

Yeah, when you get there, everyone's so like-minded and nice, you'd feel like an not a very nice person for ruining anyone's time. People were saying last year that Radiohead was a stupid choice, as mainstream as they were, and once I got inside, I didn't talk to a single hippy/festival type wasn't into seeing Radiohead.
I just really think this is a mountain being made out of a molehill.

every radiohead fan i know is cool and they usually like all kinds of music. some people just don't realize that tool is a different kind of animal. do you not think there would be any problems if nin, slayer or manson played at roo? or slipknot or any other crappy radio metal. tool shares a fanbase with them, you have to remember that. i think there will be some of those people there, not a lot. like i said it's not going to ruin the fest for everyone. but there will be sparse altercations. but i won't say anything more about it.

NIN and Manson would be awesome if I could have two of my best friends with me, and they were in a tent off from everything...otherwise, I couldn't see them playing Bonnaroo. I can see Tool, though.
I think we'll be ok.
The kids are alright, Sangreal. The kids are alright.
EDIT: Besides, if they bring some negative vibes, we'll just love them to death.

most tool fans who also listen to radio metal consider everything tool has done since aenima crap, every single "meth head" tool fan i've talked to has said this. they wont be at roo, and fi they are they won't ruin the fest, cuz they're decent people

Lol, are you confusing my "meathead" with "methhead?"
Tool is not even in the same category as NIN or Marilyn Manson. Okay maybe they are at Sam Goody or FYE. All I know is I hope there arent any hippies at Ozzfest this year. God would they ruin that with their flowers and spinning. Trying to spread all that love.

Yeah Tools last 2 albums are probably to confusing for your average meathead, but you could see that Tool was leaning this way now listening back on Aenimea. You could see them transitioning to more progressive, and personally want them to stay on the track they are on. But I would love for them to play some Eulogy, H, Jimmy, or Third Eye at Roo just because that would be friggin awesome.

Ya know what, i'm getting a little irritated that people keep saying that the Police fans are old. Geez, I'm only 36.
Maybe I was advanced for my age but I was only in junior high when they broke up, 8th grade to be precise. It's not like they were banned from the airways after that. Their music still holds up.
here's another thought... Back in the day Sting was sooooo hot, everybody had a crush on him. Then after the break up and he released his solo stuff his hotness was reduced considerably. All that time and who knew that it was Stewart Copeland who was making him so desirable.

Ok so a sidebar to the question: I went to two of the more infamous festivals that had trouble … Altamont and Woodstock 99 …. Even those two I enjoyed most of the time and my attendance wasn’t ruined by any band or any body … but in the general press and most people that didn’t go, they feel the shows were catastrophes …. So what do you think were the reasons that for most people, they wish they never went to the fest? A little “death and destruction” never stopped me … cr****
It sounds like some of you are concerned the Tool fans could turn Roo into a fire-fest like Woodstock. I don't see that happening. But if this place is all about brotherhood, then us chillin' folks should just keep an eye out for our neighbors and it will all be good. I think we outnumber the folk who might be looking to start trouble. Also, just in case, I plan on enjoying Tool from a ways back, and saving my up close time for The Police and WSP.
wow, it sounds like a lot of you are into group mentality. i mean i realize that fans of certain genres can appear to be certain ways but i did not know that because you listen to a certain type of music you have to be a certain way. most people dont even mosh at tool shows. and by the way hippies dont exist anymore and labels are so close minded and limiting. people can be pretty dynamic if you dont buy into subcultural stereotypical propaganda

Hi welcome to the board. Be prepared to read some things that you may or may not agree with. Also keep in mind that this board does have a level of humor that some may or may not get. Not all posts are meant to be serious. For example, if you were referring to my post that referenced hippies at Ozzfest that would have been a joke. See how easy it is to play along. So remember while your opinion is greatly appreciated, you may want to think things through before saying them. See you in Tenn.
I saw around 25-30 shows last year and the only fights I saw were at Steve Winwood and The White Stripes. I'm not too worried about White Stripes fans but I sure am relieved those rowdy Winwood folks won't be there this year! (Oh, and two of those shows were Tool shows and I met some really friendly, cool people)

I like the meaning of what you said. Welcome to the boards!
"They won't break me because the desire for freedom, and the freedom of the Irish people, is in my heart. The day will dawn when all the people of Ireland will have the desire for freedom to show. It is then that we will see the rising of the moon."
if your really going to be this worried about tool fans, bonnaroo isn't making you go see them when they play. while their aren't any other main acts playing, you can always find something to do. and among 80,000 plus fans, its going to be hard for any fan whatsoever to make that big of a difference, if they were even trying to. it's bonnaroo, you just gotta have fun
I would also like to think that a mosh pit or a "meathead" or any other worries that people might have would be so insignificant that it would be nowhere near ruining my Roo. Think about what it would actually take to ruin your Bonnaroo. This is the weekend that keeps me going all year. It would take a heck of alot more to ruin that
