Interesting...apparently, Shaky Knees just dropped their daily schedule, three months before the event. Now that Boston Calling is also a LiveNation-owned fest, I wonder if this means that we're going to get the BC schedule drop much earlier than in past years. I hope so, because why spend time checking out artists beforehand if it turns out that you're definitely not going to see them? Also, they might move more tickets earlier if people are holding off to be sure that there won't be a lot of conflicts between the artists they want to see.
So, I checked out the prohibited/permitted items list on the Boston Calling app, and there have been some significant changes after the LN acquisition. I didn't go through everything with a fine tooth comb, but outside food and beverage are now completely prohibited, including sealed water bottles. The only thing you're allowed to bring in is an empty hydration pack, which you can fill at the water station or with Liquid Death can contents.
The section also notes that we may be subject to a TSA-style pat down. Why is this even necessary, given the tech that they're using (which sounds like it's also coming back.)
When I emailed them and asked questions clarifying the water bottle issue and outside food (I had no problem with bringing in factory sealed individual fiber and granola bars last year), I quickly received an AI bot response directing me to the same text I saw in the app.
not a big fan of Hozier’s music but immense respect to him actually calling for a free palestine. Not many artists of his size and fame have had the balls to do that

He's a brilliant songwriter, but he's misguided here. There's not a soul alive who would choose the fate of the kibbutz-residing women, children, elderly, and men who were raped, tortured, burned alive, and otherwise murdered on 10/7 over simply dying in a bombing.
By the way, in the late 40's, the UN offered a partition plan which called for side-by-side states of Palestine and Israel. The Jewish people said yes, the Arabic people said no. Same thing happened again in the 90's with the Oslo accords. There are two peoples native to the land, and one is willing to share and this other is not.
When Israel turned Gaza completely over to the Palestinians in 2005, Gazans could have done anything with the land. They could have built a thriving tourism industry, as Dubai did. They could have created a tech hub like Israel did in Tel Aviv. Instead, they elected Hamas to govern and Hamas took billions in foreign aid and used it to personally enrich senior Hamas leadership who moved to Qatar, and spent the rest upon building an underground infrastructure for terrorism. They've been as brutal to their own people as they have to Israelis.

"As of 18 February 2024, over 30,000 people (28,473 Palestinian and 1,410 Israeli) have been killed in the Israel–Hamas war, including 88 journalists (83 Palestinian, 2 Israeli and 3 Lebanese) and over 136 UNRWA aid workers."
interesting that you mention 10/7 but not the tens of thousands of innocent palestinian children and journalists that have been killed by the Israel government in the months after

also, anyone who stands with the IDF is most definitely on the wrong side of history
The IDF isn't building military HQ under hospitals and firing missiles from residential neighborhoods. Hamas has consistently put their own people in harm's way, knowing that any defensive response from Israeli would then cause extensive casualties among Gazans civilians, which Hamas could then use to shape worldwide public opinion. They've been playing millions like a cheap fiddle this way.

Anyways today is a good day to donate to HEAL Palestine, a new organization set up by former Palestine Children’s Relief Fund leaders. I just donated $50, highly recommend taking a look www.healpalestine.org/
fleshwater conflicting with Megan is lame. As well as Blondshell and Hozier. crazy main stage run though. Definitely no longer trying for a saturday pass with such a short set from khru
Fleshwater v Megan is the most unexpectedly brutal conflict I've ever seen on a schedule lol
right?? like they were by far my favorite discovery on the lineup. I guess i can just hope for an after show
Any local Orange stage artist is bound to do at least a few area shows this year. Fleshwater does sound cool, but they'll sound just as cool at NICE a fest or ArtBeat in Davis Square or Sinclair, Rockwell, Crystal, etc.
I wouldn't mind seeing Zola Simone, who was good at Harvard Square Mayfair last year, but there are only two local artists I'd see over any non-local artist I want to see, and neither has ever been booked at Boston Calling.
