also, little tidbit. LN did not book any of this years lineup. next year will be their first year with booking influence. so expect them to have more samey headliners next year that play all the other LN fests

Yeah could be the case, seems like they are doing an odd handful of Fest shows this year, curious if that’s to prep for something like going into the studio or if more of looking to nab a paycheck.
I’m still thinking there may be some small residual agreement from the 2020 cancellation with RHCP, but maybe not.

There may be some overlap given the artists that are touring at the time, but you can't help but think there was some C3/LN influence/bookings this year.
Looking at 3 other large festivals that C3 runs - ACL, Shaky Knees, and Lollapalooza - you have:
The Lumineers at ACL & Shaky Knees (obvious booking due to festival anniversary, but still) Alanis Morissette at ACL & Format Festival (headlining) Mt. Joy at ACL & Lolla (also at Innings Festival (another C3 production) in AZ in February) - they are also managed by C3 Noah Kahan at ACL & Lolla (this may also be due to how popular he is now) Declan McKenna at ACL & Lolla Yeah Yeah Yeahs at Shaky Knees, ACL & Lolla
I think it was a mix of some legacy/contractual bookings made prior to the acquisition and C3/LN after.

Would Boston Calling want to book an artist that had just headlined In Between Days nine months earlier? It seems a little too "follow the leader" for the festival which is the actual leader in the Boston market.

I’m not one to jump to celebrities’ defenses here- and yes I’m a fan of the band very much- but literally A- you got the quote wrong and B- the line, which yes is the Donald trump tweet about Kanye, is used in a song directly about how awful trump is/was. Yes the dude is rough around the edges but I genuinely doubt he’s like the monster some people seem to make him out to be lol.
Edit- obvs he shouldn’t be doing the salute nor should he be kissing fans cuz that’s just strange. I just don’t think he is as awful and scumbag as most have been saying he is lol. Probably a bit of a egotistical person? Sure but a ‘scum of the earth’ typa person? Not *exactly* lol
