Bon Iver selling out TD is what makes me think hes a headliner if he plays
Sure, he could headline, but he wouldn't headline over Hozier on the same day.
Personally, I'm happiest when my favorites are closing Blue. So many people who just go for the "major event" of it all stick to the Green/Red tandem all day and, as a result, it's fairly easy to get close to the stage at Blue, unless you're one of those people who absolutely needs to be right in the middle with a full on view of the entire stage. I rarely ever see the drummer and keyboardist during a Blue closing set, because I'm far enough over to the side and close enough to the stage that I can't see the entire stage.
Uh...maybe the people who streamed "Take Me To Church" 2 billion, 82 million times on Spotify care about Hozier? (Skinny Love tops the list of Bon Iver plays on the platform at 560 million.)
Similarly, Hozier has 26+ million monthly listeners while Bon Iver has 13+ million.
Factor in the large number of Irish expats living the Boston area who make this an exceptionally strong city for him, and the fact that Hozier sold around 11K tickets to three Boston shows this year in a combined 10 minutes, and he'd be booked over Bon Iver, there's no doubt about it.
idk. keeps with the half female headliners theme. maybe Leon Bridges somewhere in there too
This would be a very cool and nicely balanced top six, hitting a lot of different audiences and genres without feeling disjointed in the way that, say, Metallica and The Lumineers would if they were in the same top line.
(In that lineup, Leon Bridges would be a perfect Blue closer vs. YYYs.)
The Strokes-Yeah Yeah Yeah's Rage-Brandi Carlisle RHCP-Lana Del Rey
seems more likely to me. they got a lot of praise for the gender balance this year so theyll wanna keep that
Assuming they'll get the people who they booked over the years that never got to play that finally will. Could see Boygenius or Phoebe Bridgers too depending on whatever project is going on at the time
The Strokes-Yeah Yeah Yeah's Rage-Brandi Carlisle RHCP-The 1975
I've got to think that Boston Calling will pass on the likes of Kanye, Matty Healy, and Morgan Wallen. Unlike an artist's own headlining show where the people showing up obviously don't have a problem with the artist's publicly-known bigotry, it's a bigger issue at a festival where not everyone there bought a ticket to see that particular artist.

I don't know all the details but they haven't been dropped from any other fest

They may not have been dropped once booked, but they're now less likely to be booked in the first place due to the comments.
Why invite the controversy when there are so many different artists who could be booked?

jesus christ Matty Healy is not Kanye
Only members of the groups which were the target of his slurs, comments, and gestures get to make that call. No one has the right to tell a member of a particular demographic group to which they don't belong what that group should or shouldn't find offensive.

aren't you the guy who joked about wearing a Ryan Adams shirt to a Phoebe Bridgers show

Taking a side on the "he said/she said" of it all in a celebrity breakup is hardly the same same thing as taking offense to bigotry.

im not gonna argue with the fact that Matty’s a bit of an asshole but as far as I’m aware he never said Hitler was right

He threw a Nazi salute onstage while thanking Kanye. That's way over the line, as far as I'm concerned (and, given that all four of my grandparents lost most of their immediate family members in the concentration camps, I've got every right to be offended and to weigh in on this topic.)

Again this isnt a good point as it's severely taken out of context. The song in question denounces people like kanye and trump and again- the 'thank you kanye very cool' is a tweet from trump used in the song to further push how awful people like him are. Yes clearly he shouldn't have done the salute and as far as I am aware haven't done it since- that was clearly wrong as yes it could offend people.
But the lyric in question, in context to the song, is there for a reason. But clearly 5 years ago Matty should have totally had a vision where he knew Kanye would go clinically insane and therefore should have written the song differently to make sure nobody would ever get upset ever and have it be as general as possible.
Again not saying he's the most amazing frontman ever or the greatest guy but he's no kanye in the slightest lol
But you are correct, you do have every right to be offended, if it does- especially considering your family's past, I do understand that and I'm sorry to hear you have that sort of connection.

Yeah after looking into it a bit more I do understand and agree there’s legitimate concerns about some of his dumb actions but at the same time most of the claims about his behavior are way overblown. Has my opinion changed on him at all though? No, I never liked him to begin with

Of course, he couldn't have known how the lyric would be perceived years later, before K.W. made those comments. But just like the Stones recently announced that they'd no longer perform Brown Sugar, songs which haven't aged well can always be left out of the setlist or lyrics changed.
