I pretty much assumed Meg would close the Blue from the lineup release, was pretty surprised when that wasn't the case. I think the big issue/difference between 2024 Sun and 2023 Sat was Chappell essentially locked up the Green back through the vendors like 2 sets before that kinda happened with Noah. That size crowd, that early, with minimal counter programing is always going to be tough to manage.
I know the Blue is kinda a smaller situation, but I do wish they booked it with the #2 artist of the day which was somewhat counter programing to the headliner
All they need to do is put the bleachers back at Blue and move the ferris wheel back to Red, and then have the second largest artist of the day close Blue. Go back to Blue being considered the second largest/most prominent stage at the festival (and, don't the sponsors want foot traffic back and forth across the grounds so that more people will see the activations?)
The Killers may have been successful for much longer than Hozier and charted more hits (given their 10 year head start), but hardly anyone cares about their last few albums and you saw 20 Hozier shirts this weekend for every Killers t-shirt.
Especially in Boston, with its large community of Irish ex-pats, Hozier should have headlined. Their was no need to book The Killers. With MTS closing Blue, and Chappell Roan moving up to 2nd from the last on Green, they may very well have sold as many tickets or close to it, and whatever they lost in pass sales from Killers fans who only went to see them might be balanced by the money saved by not having to pay them (I'm sure that they may have had to pay Hozier more for a full headlining set, but the difference between that amount and the full amount they paid The Killers would have resulted in great savings. They wouldn't have needed to book another big name. Another local artist early in the day would have been fine, especially since the whole point of this hypothetical exercise is address the fact that they overbooked the day.)

this is such a funny statement for so many reasons.
Are there Irish ex-pats in Boston? Yeah
Are there far more people of Irish descent living in Marshfield and Scituate who vote for Trump and brag about being Irish despite their ancestors moving here 120 years ago? Yeah.
