So I basically leave the property every five-ish days to take the trash off. I have not really left much aside from that since abrakapokus does the grocery shopping. I go to a dump that is newer and a little further away than the one that is right near my house because I like to take the drive and be out a little longer but for an appropriate reason. On the way back today, I rolled up to a stoplight behind a semi with
TRUMP 2020 SAVE THE COUNTRY GIVE COVID-19 TO A DEMOCRAT
written on the dirt of the back of the truck. Fuck that guy. Thanks to him for reminding me that I may miss individuals, but I do not miss people really.
It's really too bad you had already dumped off your trash at that point lol.

How fake news works.
My cousin shared this link, to what my mom must have assumed was an article. It's a post on Medium.com which is basically just a blog type site that anyone can post on. And also, it was already deleted by Medium (possibly for being misleading or spreading misinformation).
So my mom sees this and says "Oh, a doctor shared this and is talking about how ventilators aren't hte solution and how hydroxychloroquine is working". I tell her that yeah, they probably are pushing that since Trump has vested interest in that drug but she says "well, this isn't a pro trump article or anything".
She was skimming the post and missed all the clearly pro-trump and anti-media bias in the piece.
Also, best part, it was written by a pilot who has a father who is a retired ENT doctor. So this isn't even coming directly from a medical source.
Anyway, here's the link to what some of my family are now calling "interesting if true" and shit like that

The writer is also a regular on the /r/The_Donald spin-off site thedonald.win and is super into cryptocurrency.
Someone posted this on the Bonnaroo sub and I pointed out the obvious bias in the post. After being told that it doesn't affect the validity of the article (which yeah it kinda does) I was basically accused of having some liberal agenda to discredit certain information to benefit the elections.
Do you want to send them the one where some rando talks about Neil deGrasse Tyson and Michio Kaku discussing the evidence (or lack thereof) surrounding the possibility that coronaviruses are being sent here by an alien society in hopes of either communicating with us or readying Earth for a future invasion 437 years from now? I didn't write that blog post yet, but I'm sure I could throw in a political tie-in of your choice, too. Acknowledging how much bullshit there is out there is almost as sad as acknowledging how many otherwise smart people believe it.

My aunt posted this same article this morning. My aunt is a nurse of some sort (one of the types with a lot of letters next to their name but I don't feel like asking my mom what she is specifically) and she also is an instructor at a nursing school.
I called her out on it but she never responded. It was shared 28 times, though.

im here basically alone (with Siggy ostensibly - but he seems idle). got a queeueeueuueee of some jam, NOLA funk, Memphis soul, dancy jazz, talking heads covers by jam bands. basically my kids are napping and im having a pre-happy hour gin while simultaneously stressing about and shrugging off my lack of productivity.

I stumbled across a Rudy tweet today because my life is awful, and it said something along the lines of “this Dem congresswoman had COVID and thanks Donald Trump for recommending Hydroxychloroquine cause it saved her life.” So I clicked on the link and it’s about a State Rep in Michigan, but the article Rudy linked says nothing about Hydroxychloroquine because he’s a huckster moron. So I hunt down a NYPost article that has the quote, turns out the woman also had lime disease, which you treat with Hydroxychloroquine.
I’m ready to shove some hydrocychloroquine up Trump’s ass.

On one of my meetings today, several nurses said they think the media coverage has blown everything out of proportion regarding the situation in NYC, acting like it's really not that bad and I almost lost it. Thankfully one of the senior nurses who's more involved in our COVID-19 response corrected them.

My cousin who shared it is a nurse. As is her mom (retired). And now I've got some family members saying "interesting, thanks for sharing". I've typed up a response a dozen times and just can't commit to post it. I don't get into stupid political battles online and I even made it very fair and gave them some benefit of the doubt (even though I think the whole thing is bullshit) but I just don't want to open that can of worms. It was like that idea of writing a letter but never sending it.
Fuck. I need to get off Facebook. All it does is add stress and self-criticism.
I'm so fucking devastated/angry/sad right now. Both my brother and I absolutely adored John - last year's Roo set was a dream come true for him especially. Rest in Peace.
But also fuck this virus and how poorly our leadership has handled it.

John Prine made music that my dad discovered and loved when he was in college in the 70s, and I also discovered and loved in college just recently. Our tastes don't overlap a ton, but that was something we shared... I'm really grateful to John for being so funny and heartfelt and helping us bond.
Also feeling very good about my decision to see him at Bonnaroo last year instead of trying to pit close for The National haha. Wish I could've had the chance to see him again with my dad, but that's life

Tell them to come hang out at my place and listen to ambulance sirens literally ALL DAY. Also, I’ll cough on them.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?
UPCOMING SHOWS 5/14 - Neil Young & Crazy Horse @ Forest Hills 6/8 and maybe 6/9 - Governors Ball 8/17 - King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard @ Forest Hills 9/4 - Pearl Jam @ MSG 9/7 - Pearl Jam @ Wells Fargo Center 9/11 - St. Vincent @ Brooklyn Paramount
Glad to hear you're hanging in there man - hopefully in the last throes of that bitch before you destroy it. I don't know why people believe shit and just parrot it without a second thought. What also sucks is how this shit affects you in ways you didn't even know existed. Since I got the negative result, I'm sketched about everything. I know that's good, but it means lack of interacting with friends and family. I'm thinking of dropping out to FL for like a month. I don't know if I can pull it off, because of work and complications, but it's where I know I can be alone except for the grocery. That isn't me or the life I want to be living. I'm from a big family and have a medium sized one. You might want to say hey or kiss one of your kids bye, but everyone possibly has exposure as much as people try to isolate. That means everything anyone touches is suspect. I'm pretty much not paranoid in general, but there's no getting away from dodging and trying not to catch it. I blame the 4 days I didn't know and had to at least think about further implication. Even if I'm a little shy, I'm pretty friendly. I don't want to be sketched and sour and creeped and edgy. Coughs are hells bells and someone sneezing could give you a crick in the neck. (ahhhhhhhh)
