It’s great he’s making this donation. I don’t want to downplay that. But Twitter is still a toilet, and it’s at least partially because he doesn’t want to alienate the Nazis who make up such a large portion of his user base.

I’m...ok. Relapse happened on Friday, lots of coughing and clearing my throat. Temp went up to 99.2, which isn’t terrible, but was the first 99-plus temperature I’d clocked in weeks. I was concerned, as, at that point, I was at Day 18 and figured I should be getting past it, so I did a telemedicine appt. with my doctor. Apparently, a lingering cough for weeks is a thing with this disease, but mine was pretty rough. I was also concerned I might have developed a secondary infection. My doctor prescribed me an inhaler to hit twice a day, and I also got some Zicam for the sinuses when I was at the pharmacy. I also started doing some COPD deep breathing exercises. Last night, I cautiously started to feel better.
Today is Day 6 of the relapse. Temp has gone back down, the past two days. I’m still coughing a little, but the tightness in my chest has eased, for now. I just am really over all of this and would like to get better. A good friend of mine is losing his mom to this thing, though, so I’m trying to keep perspective. Honestly, the anxiety has been the worst part - worrying that there might be some sort of respiratory crash coming. I know I’m past the anecdotal point when something like that would happen, but so much is unknown with COVID-19 that the worry is always there in the back of the mind.
My wife, meanwhile, has very, very slowly started to regain her sense of smell. So far (knock wood), that has really been her one and only symptom.
Thanks for checking in. I’m glad you tested negative, although I hear you on the nerves thing. Hell, theoretically, I’m going to have antibodies for this fucker, and I still am nervous about going out into the world, again.

All in all, that's pretty fantastic news except for your friend's mom. That sucks ass. Hopefully they will figure out a way to have them in touch before the end. I can't even fucking imagine the pain of having to say goodbye much less not even being able to. Yeah, the anxiety whether you have it or not is such a fucked up thing. I'm not an anxious person, so it's all out of character for me. I made the decision to go isolate for 2 weeks starting today. I told my daughter if she gets tested sometime in the next week, I'll come back to NOLA to pick her up.
I'm sure the Times has similar stories, but here's one from NOLA.com called "It's horrendous" which shows how difficult it is for the healthcare workers often having to be the ones to hold a patient's dying hand or praying with/for them or whatever. I can't even fucking imagine having to deal with that as it's choke-you-up shit. Hopefully the proposed $25k or whatever bonus Pelosi is working on for first line people will go through. We will owe them all untold debts of gratitude.

I worked for a brief time in the hospital and one of my hardest days was seeing a very large family in heavy grief in the ICU. Didn't know what happened but it was very clear and it just wrecked me for a couple of days. I was a lab guy so really didn't have any contact with patients but if they had come any further down my hall I probably would've started crying.

Senator Sherrod Brown from Ohio proposed the $25k hazard pay. It's $25k max, in the form of $13/hr extra pay for the rest of 2020 for essential workers. That would include a lot of people who are still working, including grocery workers. There's also something about a $15k bonus, apparently limited to healthcare workers and first responders. No idea if this is going anywhere, though the intention is to include it in the next round of economic stimulus spending, I guess.
Ohio's other senator, Rob Portman (R), sounds less than enthusiastic about this, to put it lightly. Cleveland.com said this: "Ohio Republican Sen. Rob Portman said he was not familiar enough with details of Brown’s proposal to comment on it, but agreed that workers who keep society going during pandemics are “heroes." He said they deserve to have personal protective gear, and said that companies like Kroger that are hiring more workers to assist during the pandemic are “probably having to pay a little bit more, and that’s appropriate.”
So, to get out of the house and get some exercise in I've been going on like 3 mile long runs/walks every other day or so. It's been good for me to get some movement in my day and also just get out of the house even just for 45mins or so. But with the below study, I'm not sure it's the safest way to get myself moving and active.
So my question to you guys, especially those of you in smaller spaces where you don't have a backyard or anywhere inside to exercise, how have you been staying active and not letting yourself just completely succumb to watching Netflix all day? We don't have any work out equipment in our apartment and I have no where I could bust out the yoga mat inside. But I can't just waste away on the couch all day.

Damn...I’d heard this info recently too but hadn’t seen the actual data from the study :/ I’ve been getting outside for walks everyday: it is the thing keeping me sane tbh.
Is there an easy to move piece of furniture in your apartment that you can temporarily scoot aside to make room for your yoga mat, and then can alternate between yoga and Pilates? Some HIIT videos on YouTube also don’t require much room.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

if you want yoga, i like yoga with adriene and bad yogi. a friend recommended the body project for at home workouts, but i haven't tried them yet. also, this choreographer is doing dance classes on his instagram 4-5 days a week and they're fun. even with the time difference for you, they stay up on his live feed for 24 hours.

All I can tell you is what I’m doing. I am walking in my neighborhood on my days off. I go early in the day when there is less traffic. If I see anyone outside I walk to the opposite side of the street. We both nod at each other in understanding. At no point am I upstream or downstream from anyone. We have big wide streets. If you can do this, then I would say you are good. But I work in a crowded grocery store on a daily basis, so getting it while walking is the least of of my problems.
I went on a walk yesterday in my neighborhood and the nice thing now is that if I see someone I can just run across to the other side of the street if I see anyone without any repercussions.
Despite living in a moderate sized city, it is pretty easy to cross the street whem I run/walk in neighborhoods and on trails. I can usually stay 20 feet away from people let alone 6 feet.
I could see how this is a huge problem in NYC and other dense areas.
