Hearing my sister complain about her father in law ranting about "Covid didn't kill anybody" and he's now on the "underlying conditions" bandwagon angers me. I really can't with these people.
I feel your pain. We've got a guy at work who is generally pretty likable and thoughtful, but he keeps talking about how the government wants us all cooped up at home for "something," and how the hospitals in NYC were all empty at the peak because some video on Facebook showed some empty hallways at some hospital somewhere. He fits multiple risk categories but he's anti-mask. Curfews and looting that don't affect him are the most significant parts of the whole protest movement. We talk about music and Star Wars and whatnot but man, people who get all their news from Facebook are hard to be around.
The vaccine may be a two shot series a month apart. I’ll get to poke you guys twice.
That sets up a joke about returning the favor or something "she said", but I can't work out the wording at the moment so I'll just ruin it like this. Sorry.
My emotions are telling me to go protest today but the rational part of me is like "Dude we're still in a pandemic". I know there are other things I can do to support the movement, but I still feel like I should be there. It's incredibly inconsistent with the part of me that a month ago was quite hesitant about visiting people outside while socially distanced and masked.

Having finally tested negative, I went to a vigil for Breonna Taylor yesterday. I was masked (respirator plus surgical mask, since my respirator has a valve), and I kind of hung on the outskirts of the crowd. Where I was, I was able to maintain decent distance from people, and I also didn't come close to anyone who wasn't masked.
I dunno. Maybe having had the damn thing gives me a bit more confidence than I'd otherwise have, but where I was, it didn't feel too bad. I think you can stay in a relatively safer mode as long as you're not intent on being right in the thick of the crowd.

I think it's been shown that if you are outside and either appropriately distanced from other people or wearing a mask if you are closer (I.E. both are wearing a mask), the transmission chances are small.
Mind you I don’t think I have it. It can’t hurt to be sure though
Do you usually have allergies? I’ve had all of those symptoms off and on for months but I get allergies, so I’ve attributed it to that. Well, minus the weird week I had in March. That could have been Rona.

I do get allergies, but normally don’t feel like this and usually not this far into the year. I had some caffeine and feel less headachey so it is probably not Covid. I could also just be exhausted from working a full time job and internship. I also don’t have a nice chair because I haven’t gotten a big boy paycheck yet so the soarness could also be coming from that.

I feel ya. I wanted to go out the other day to the BLM protest downtown but decided I'd better not. I went to pick up some groceries yesterday. didn't even go in the store, but a majority of people I saw going in were not wearing masks and not socially distancing. AZ cases have been spiking the past few days (~2 weeks after we "reopened", can ya believe it??) and I was reminded we're in a pandemic. So I sent some more money to the NAACP legal defense fund and the local bail fund, and made my kids watch/discuss some videos with me from the National Civil Rights museum.
I ended up going, though I didn't stay long. Most people were in masks and there was a breeze, and I didn't feel uncomfortable when I was outside of the crowd (which was about 75% of the time). Probably won't take a bigger risk like that for a little bit, but I'm glad I went. And ngl just being around other human beings felt nice.

Yeah, the little one I went to yesterday was a majority people wearing masks and it was easy/accepted to not cluster close if you didn't want to. I also mostly kept a distance, though sometimes not 6 feet I still wasn't getting up close with anyone. It was one of the few things I've gone out and done besides food shopping and going a couple of times to the office to restart a computer so it was nice to be around others. Also felt good hearing and seeing all the people driving by and honking in support. They would honk, people would cheer, and the energy was just feeding off of each other. Also was nice that a lot of people were going around handing out hand sanitizer and water bottles to whoever wanted.

I know there are SO MANY more important things going on in the world right now, and it's stupid to feel this way, but this being the weekend of Governors Ball - the first Governors Ball with an age restriction, with a lineup that felt like it was aimed right at me and what I like - has me in a really huge funk. The weather has been rainy, but not stormy, meaning we wouldn't have repeated last year's evacuation/cancelation of Sunday, and I'm sitting here listening to a playlist of Vampire Weekend's set from Okeechobee in March and pining over how fun it would have been to dance like a mad fool in a field to this music with a bunch of strangers on what's shaping up to be a beautiful night, tonight.
Again, I know it's dumb to get depressed over something like that when the world is on fire and people are out in the streets trying to change life-and-death shit...but, damn, I miss live music so much it literally hurts.
