They rocked Soldier Field for free after a Chi Fire soccer match right around Summerteeth. No one there was subdued after a long, beer-soaked afternoon. Could be a strictly Canadian issue.
I have seen them five times in the past two and a half years, with another two shows coming up this fall, and each time has just been incredible - but their "Evening with..." show at the Orpheum in Boston last spring was one of the top five shows I've ever seen, anywhere. 39 songs over 3 full hours, including a 10-song acoustic set in the middle that was 50% rarities - easily up there with MMJ at Roo '08.
Speaking of which, can Bonnaroo please just give Wilco a 3-hour LN Which set next year? That would seem like the next logical step up from Saturday pre-headliner. The only other spot where I could picture them is in a slightly later pre-headlining spot (say 8-10) - I think they're probably too big for a Buffalo Springfield / David Byrne timeslot at this point.

We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

I'm cruising up to Atlanta to see their show. I think they'd be great in Lil Wayne's spot from this year. I would of actually stayed awake. I can't wait for this album, they've just taken things to a new level for their genre. Nearly every song is perfect in it's own way.
