I'm going to try hard for tickets to see him at Wrigley Field in July.
Off topic, has anyone ever seen a concert there? I can't imagine the acoustics being any good.
Not at Wrigley, but I saw The Stones play at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, and the sound was actually pretty good. I'm sure the show will have a massive stage setup that really helps the sound at non-tradition venues like ballparks.
I am fully expecting a classic rock headliner, since the last two have not included that type of headliner. Maybe the trend continues, but it would be great to get Macca. He just announced a concert in Detroit that I'll be attending for sure.
I really don't see Macca happening next year. If the headlining trend continues as it's been going, we're getting Well That's An Odd Choice/Wait, They're Headliners?/Widespread Panic.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

So help my god, if our headliners next year are Insane Clown Posse, Lady Gaga, and Panic, I am not going.

I hope to God he headlines. I've seen him twice, and whoever said that it's impossible to leave a Macca concert in a bad mood is absolutely right. He'd fit in so well at Bonnaroo and would definitely rock the farm.

I'd vote for this for sure. Probably the best "classic" headliner they could ever get. Not to mention that Paul's voice is still there and hes doing Springsteen-esque set lengths. Have a feeling this is why we got Eminem this year. I'm betting (and according to insider) that they tried to book Radiohead, Prince, Paul, Etc. and they all fell through. They probably already had Eminem signed in Jay-Z's slot last year and when the others fell through, they worked with what they had.
moses.. Paul is by far the biggest classic act out. IMo he is still the biggest act out in general. I saw him in Charlotte and my tickets cost around $150 and I was in the nose bleeds. That's was ticketmaster face value as well. Tickets up front were going for like $1000 outside the venue. No other act can say that. The only one who comes close is The Stones. He has sold more albums than anyone living and probably ever.

CPK.... I feel like you think that I don't think Paul would be a fantastic choice based on your ellipses and my name at the beginning. Am I confused? I feel like we are on the same page, I just can't tell if your post is in accordance with mine or you are trying to convince me?
Just saw part of his Hard Rock Calling 2010 set on Palladia, really really hope this happens. Would be a huge draw for my uncle, who has an RV. *fingers crossed*

Sir Paul peforms "Hey Jude" with Stevie Wonder, Jack White, Dave Grohl, Elvis Costello, The Jonas Brothers, Faith Hill, Jerry Seinfield, and the Obama family.
Saw a Dr. Dog interview and they were talking about seeing Sir Paul at Coachella and how it was surreal. He said he saw people just in aww of the performance and that it was so moving that he saw multiple people crying. He also expressed how he couldn't believe he was watching a Beatle and how he realized that every song that Paul played had influenced him and his music in some way throughout his life. Make it happen Mr. Capps

Bump.
I completely agree. It was hard not to become emotional having Paul sing Hey Jude to me. The performance was indeed surreal and I cried like a little b!tch (couldn't help it, not ashamed). I saw him again on that same tour when he came to Dallas and it was hard to not get choked up again. Bonnaroo must have Paul soon!
If there is one man alive today that is responsible for the evolution of rock and roll it is Paul McCartney. If does end up playing Roo every artist playing the festival should at least try and thank him for what he has contributed to the art of music. I have said this before but he is the only musician to walk out on stage and I couldn't believe I was in the presence of that person. Even if he doesn't play Roo anybody who has not seen him and has a legitimate chance of seeing him should not hesitate to take advantage of that opportunity.
Soon as was done typing this Get Back came on at work

Saw him tonight in Detroit, just absolutely incredible. As others mentioned doing, I wept like a little bitch at various points in the set (Let it Be and Hey Jude really got me). Played for a solid 3 hours, hit after hit with seemingly as much energy as hes ever had. His voice hasnt taken a hit at all either. The man was just born to perform music. Incredible backing band. Great light show and even some pretty awesome pyrotechnics. Also he did Helter Skelter. Hes 69 years old. And he fucking rocked it. Hands down the best (realistic) show that Roo could possibly book.
I actually had a dream last night that the headlining sets at bonnaroo were as followed:
Friday: Iron Maiden / Muse split, Outkast LN Which Saturday: Paul McCartney, Daft Punk LN Which Sunday: Furthur
This wasn't a dream dream, because there is not Tool, Radiohead, and Pink Floyd; instead it was a semi realistic dream, with a little bit of everything.
That is a fantastic lineup. So on board with that. Tickets would sell out first day.

This is what I've been saying to everyone and anyone who will listen. The man is pushing 70 and he still fucking brings it live like no one else. I've seen hundreds of shows in my time (maybe not as many as some of you vets, but still my fair share), and he's way up at the very top of the list, in the same level I reserve for shows like MMJ at Bonnaroo '08. It is simply impossible to leave a Paul show unsatistfied - that man is every bit as much an entertainer as he is an artist, and he makes sure that even those people in the nosebleeds have the time of their lives. He still sounds incredible live, plays for a solid three hours, has great audience banter, puts on one of the greatest light shows I've ever seen, and has more energy and stage presence than many acts a third of his age. Paul may be the most expensive show I've ever seen, but dollar for dollar, he's also the most worth it. Tickets were $100 plus $25 tax and fees for seats in the grandstand, and double that for on the field - I went for two nights in the grandstand, and I feel I got more than my money's worth. It was a tough decision between two nights in the stands or one night on the field, but I think I made the right choice.
There's not a single other act in the world I would rather see at the top of the lineup instead. Not the Stones, not Prince, not Bowie, not Waters, not Clapton, not Daft Punk, not even Radiohead - just please give me some Macca. Do whatever you need to do to make it happen, Capps - but for the love of God, make sure that it does happen. I can think of no greater concert-going experience than singing along to 'Hey Jude' in front of the What Stage with 79,999 members of my Roo family - I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it.

Agreed 100%. When I saw him in Atlanta 2 years ago, it changed my life. This NEEDS to happen at Roo
