I was blown away when I saw them at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on Valentine's Day '06 -- and last summer, I married my girlfriend who took me to that show. Sigur Rós is love and joy. Watching the sunrise to that music would be the ultimate Bonnaroo experience. My vote is for a late night set.
I saw the same show. I sat through the entire thing with my eyes closed and a smile on my face. It was fucking awesome. And LOUD as hell. That bass was buzzing my chest the entire time.
For anyone who needs a song to get them into Sigur Ros, I definitely recommend Svefn g Englar, off of Agaetis Byrjun. It used to be a free download at amazon, but not sure if it still is. That song...oh man. The middle part where he's singing by himself, and then the music comes back in...sigh. Goosebumps.
I just want them to get a late night set, which probably won't happen though due to the fact that Metallica and Pearl Jam are probably going to get the Friday/Sat late night spots, which is bogus in my opinion. Sigur Ros is more deserving of a late night spot than those two bands put together.

I think Sigur Ros is guaranteed a latenight spot. Metallica and Pearl Jam are definitely headlining.
Ive been trying to get into Sigur but I just get sleepy when I listened to it. I take it a lot of fans who like this band like Radio head because I def see the similarities. I need a bumping band that makes me dance for late night ,but i will swing by his tent to see how the live act looks like.

Radiohead makes me dance more than any other non-DJ, pending the album being played.
Sigur Ros... I can't picture myself seeing them late night. However I agree it'd be sweet to be sitting down listening to this band as the sun rose... Perhaps they should just get a 6:00 am slot?
It just doesn't seem like Sigur ros would be at their full potential if the sun is still up. I know that sounds kinda strange but I think night would really bring out the set especially if they are using lighting, ect.
I'm hoping the Sigur Ros set is from 4-6 or something like that... it's such a mellow show, I don't want to get tired or have anyone falling asleep on me at 1:30 in the morning
I'd really just want to see Sigur Ros before I go to bed.
I saw Sigor Ros play last year at Bass Hall in Ft. Worth, Texas and I bawled my eyes out. The experience was just completely and utterly amazing and the atmosphere of the performance was the most intense I have ever experienced. I would not miss their set this year for anything in the world. I advise everyone else too be there as well. The passion in their show is anything but lacking.

I was at that show and I agree, it was amazing. I don't throw that word around loosely, either. It'll be cool to see if they can create that kind of atmosphere at Bonnaroo. I'm betting they can!

I could totally see how this would happen. I am a new listener, and I went outside to smoke a cig, I looked up at the sky, and I had their music still echoing in my head, and I thought, "This band could EASILY bring me to tears." I picture myself eating goodies and going to see them and having a complete, outter-body experience.
Once in a while when I listen to music, certain songs, parts of songs/whatever, make me realize how trivial the world can be, and I get overwhelmed at how beautiful life is. I have certainly cried for no reason while listening to music in my car, apartment, and in concert. I went to a show (not Sigur Ros) a couple years ago and I was completely blown away by whatever was happening on stage, my girlfriend turned around and looked at me, bawling my eyes out. And she asked, "What's wrong?" I said, "Nothing. Everything is so beautiful. These aren't tears of sadness. They are joyful tears. " It's hard to explain. When everything is right, and you are listening to the right music for the right mood, etc. it's a rushing, overwhelming feeling that makes you stand back and look at life. I totally see that happening to me during this set this year. This music is transcendent.
