Sigur ros is all about atmosphere in my opinion. There are certain times, spots, ect. that really bring out the music. I would especially recommend listening to them with some good headphones. That way you only get the music and less "outside" noise. Just my two cents, can't wait for 'roo 08 and Sigur Ros!!!

This is my concern about this show. I'm concerned about sound bleed from other stages ruining the ambience. With that said, I'm so pumped they are coming.
I'm with you on that one, birdie.... the only way I want to hear them late night is if I'm tucked in my sleeping bag and ready to pass out. I just can't see myself recovering from something that mellow after 2am.
Their music can definitely be a bit trancey, but they are still a very dynamic band. Trust me, if they continue to play Untitled #8 as their big closer, you won't be recovering from a mellow song, your head will be spinning. Watch this:

i'd be in a great setting if a hawt boy were to join me for the sigur ros set... ;D
since you said boy and not man I will have to bow out, but happy hunting none-the-less. I am sure you will not have any problems finding what you are looking for!
You just can't listen to Sigur like you would listen to most music. I, personally, have a small CD rack that I leave on the same nightstand as my CD player alarm clock.
I keep ( ) in there with all the ambient stuff I listen to before bed. That or Radio Head's Kid A are my favorite albums to listen to before bed, just after getting high.
If they somehow end up playing the midnight spot after Metallica I'd DEFINITELY skip the former to get a nice spot. And hopefully I get my hands on some nice goodies for this.

listening to ( ) while reading this thread has given me perpetual goosebumps. it moves me almost to tears. don't listen to sigur ros for the first time through computer speakers. definitely headphones is the way to go.
(me and my friends always pronounce it "sig-er ross" is that wrong?)
these 4 months til bonnaroo just very well may be the death of me. too much excitement too early! ahhh!
From what I understand of their live show, sound bleeding shouldn't be much of a problem. Even though their sound is ambient and spacious, they still play LOUD.
i'm just a little worried about sound bleeding. this is a pretty quiet band, and at coachella (i believe last year) the sound from a nearby stage was pretty intrusive.

It was 2006, and the sound did bleed. Hopefully they'll take that into account.......
do you think these guys could take the place of the flaming lips last year, they'll definitely be latenight, i just hope they don't conflict with phil and friends or mmj (if either of them play latenight)

Yeah Im sure it will be good. Im totally saving all of my energy and goodies for this show. Has anyone here everv listened to their album "Music for Split Sides"? Its crazy! Not like anything else they've done. I believe Radiohead helped them produce it (or someone from radiohead..i.e. johnny greenwood, or thom) I can see it being one album thats hard to get your head around, but its interesting none the less.
This show is literally the reason I'll be attending Bonnaroo. I cannot afford it this year, neither in terms of money or missing class, but I will, because I MUST see them live. At Bonnaroo. In the middle of the night.
