well i originally thought that black album was another breakthrough for metal/hard rock. Its just too bad they took it the opposite way everybody thought they were going to. Personally, I still cant decide my favorite Metallica album, "Kill Em' All", "Master Of Puppets", and "..and Justice for All" are epic. The biggest reunion that could happen in metal is James, Lars, and Dave Mustaine getting back together. Maybe even throw in a les claypool? haheha
Now that my friend would make Metallica at Roo special. Les knows all early Metallica and Dave Mustaine is just sick. I say if Superfly was able to pull that off I would not mind them at all being at Roo.
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."
Just to echo what the robot guy said a couple pages back, this is 2007. Almost 40 YEARS since LZ hit the scene. Be careful how high you get your expectations.
And don't worry about tickets. People will not spend hundreds of dollars to hang with all of "us" for 4 days just to see Zep.
I'd venture to say that if LZ is one of the 3 headliners, they are not the best at the end of the day.

that makes me wonder how things are gonna sound...but hey, i was happy i finally saw bob dylan this past year, so if this zeppelin thing pans out, i'll probably be the happiest i've ever been, imo they are the best rock band ever

I guess I will be one of the lone ones that thinks Metallica could work for 'Roo. I'm not a huge fan of the band and they seem like douche bags, but they have written some incredibly great music and they are excellent musicians (Hammett will melt your face). I mean... tracks like 'One' and 'Unforgiven' could be pretty incredible... and plus I've heard when they play those epic/complex songs live, they jam them out.
I don't know... Like someone said prior... I trust the guys that run the festival. It is always top notch.
I remember people pissing and moaning about Tool last year. I thought they were an excellent fit.
Other than Metallica's sh@tty personalities, I don't think that they 'don't fit'.
I'll put it like this... I would rather have Metallica than some incarnation of The Dead that churns out the same old, same old year after year.
Throw Radiohead in as the third headliner and that is a seriously solid headlining group... though, I doubt Radiohead would be willing to headline any other day but Saturday (and I'm assuming that is where Zep will fall).
Metallica would be good at bonnaroo. To whoever said les claypool, thatd be nutsss. As far as led zepplin goes, listen to plant's recent album with alison krauss. That's prolly a decent sample of his vocal range as of lately. I think its a little to early to be making these kind of predictions. I hope the previous person was right about the general population not wanting to be with bonnaroo ppl. That would ruin everything if tickets sold out too fast or sold more tickets to keep up with demand.

While Robert Plant is a big part of Zeppelins sound, its definitely not the reason i like them. I could listen to 3 hours of Zeppelin instrumentals and it would still rock. Also, i don't think at the end of the night i have ever been like, the headliner act was the best show i saw tonight.
I've only watched one complete headliner set in the 2 years I have gone. And that was The Police. I usually get bored when bands play for more than an hour and a half to 2 hours. But I dont care if Led Zeppelin plays one enitre day, I'd watch the whole show.
But yeah, I agree with you ziggy, I've never thought that the headliner was the best show of the night. Although Radiohead came close. Too bad Beck was before them, and Dr. John was after.
On the Philly radio stations, they said that due to contractual obligations to another festival, the bands can't reveal or promote what other festivals that they're playing until afterwards... Metallica, Zep and PJ... I guess we'll see. I'm not a big fan of Metallica at all.. especially Lars. Zep would be badass. PJ would be ok, if they don't go through the motions like at Lollapalooza. Damn, that pissed me off!
Hey Chief(alphaghetti), what makes you think superfly would actually comment on any band that was or wasn't going to play at bonnaroo....especially 6months before the festival. I for one am excited for roo 08 if this true. If you dont like metallica that much its as simple as not going to the show. ps..The Lips were kickass last year..but if Zepp plays It'll be even bigger
In regards to tickets, I think that if Superfly were really concerned about tickets selling out within minutes, they would put some sort of a limit on the amounts, or make sure that bots couldn't buy up banks of tickets.
Although it's not in any way similar to Bonnaroo, the whole debacle with Hannah Montana this year has probably made lots of people revamp the way they sell tickets. If anything like the Hannah Montana thing happened with Bonnaroo, the festival would go bankrupt. Reason being- not only do many of the people not have $1000 to spend per ticket like many of the moms and dads did for HM, but Superfly depends on four days worth of income from everything else that goes on during the festival, unlike concerts that just last one night.
I don't know if that made sense or not. I just got done typing a 20-page paper.
ROBERT PLANT And ALISON KRAUSS To Perform At BONNAROO Festival - Dec. 11, 2007
According to Nashville's NBC affiliate WSMV-TV, LED ZEPPELIN frontman Robert Plant and bluegrass star Alison Krauss will perform at the Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Tennessee next June to promote their collaborative CD, "Raising Sand". In addition to the "Raising Sand" material, they'll perform songs from their catalogs — including LED ZEPPELIN's "When the Levee Breaks" and "Black Dog".
Plant has told Rolling Stone magazine that he plans to hit the road in early 2008 with Krauss.
A disc of tender, mostly acoustic duets, "Raising Sand" — which was produced by T Bone Burnett — debuted at No. 2 n The Billboard 200 chart in late October, becoming an unexpected hit.
"Raising Sand" includes versions of the EVERLY BROTHERS' "Gone, Gone, Gone (Done Moved On)", TOM WAITS and KATHLEEN BRENNAN's "Trampled Rose" and "Please Read the Letter", first released on the 1998 PLANT/JIMMY PAGE album "Walking Into Clarksdale".
According to Billboard.com, Plant and Krauss first performed together in 2004 at a Leadbelly tribute at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, but it took several years before they found time to team up in the studio with Burnett in Nashville and Los Angeles.
Tennessean.com reported that Plant and Krauss taped an episode of "CMT Crossroads" in October at The Mill at Lebanon in Tennessee that will air at a later date.
Plant and Krauss were interviewed on BBC's "Breakfast" show on October 31 about "Raising Sand" CD. Watch the nine-minute segment below.
