Holy Christ on ice skates. I really didn't think it could be true...The thought of Bonnaroo and Metallica together makes me feel dirty.
Led Zep : A+ Metallica : F-
WTF? I don't understand this at all. This could be a really weird Bonnaroo. I'll hold out hope that this rumor is bunk. godd**n I hope it is.
Yeah I hear that. I always said no one band could drive me away from Bonnaroo but Metallica would be pushing it. I have friends who listen to Metallica and it is just not my thing. Metallica seems like it represents hate, anger and bad music(at least their recent stuff). Things I thought Bonnaroo stood the opposite of....................although Led Zeppelin would soften the blow.

I just figured I would throw in my two cents. I cant think of any other band I would like to see more than Zeppelin. Also I cant think of any place I would rather see them than at Bonnaroo. However I really dont want this to happen. I can forsee many of us BONNAROO fans (not just zeppelin fans) getting the shaft when tickets sell out in about 30 seconds.
I really really really really love Zeppelin, and like I said in another thread, I would sell organs on the black market to see them live...I still kinda don't want them to be there. Why? Because I worry about getting a ticket. The tickets will sell out in like 30 seconds, whatever's left over will be on EBay for absolutely outrageous prices, and a lot of longtime Rooers won't be able to attend simply because of this. People who want to come to see other bands won't be able to get tickets. Plus it will drastically alter the people attending the festival. You think people last year attending "just to see Tool" was bad? Practically everybody there will be there to see Zeppelin. While they're worth it, I'd rather see some diversity in the music like in years past. Plus, I want everybody to have equal access to the tickets. That's what Bonnaroo's about after all, right?
If Zeppelin announces a tour before the tickets for roo go sale then it may not sell out as fast. If not, we better be ready to drop whatever is in our wallet the day it goes on sale.

I totally agree with what you are saying. But I think if Superfly had the chance to book Led Zeppelin they'd be crazy if they didn't. With a good enough line-up they could sell out the festival possibly quicker than they ever have before. The publicity would be insane and would make Bonnaroo THE festival in America to beat. As a business why wouldn't they want to do that.

I say if the Zeppelin comes Superfly will not blow there load of tickets at first. They will still have the teir setup and I could see a possible reward for past roo ticket buyers and let us have first bids at tickets and then let the general mass buy tickets after a certain date (they would have to limit ticket sales this way but could see it as a possiblility so they still will have the rooers that have been faithfull to Superfly).

It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."

December 03, 2007, 12:25 PM ET
Jonathan Cohen, N.Y. Led Zeppelin will play its first U.S. show since July 24, 1977, this June at the Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Tenn., according to an email published in industry commentator Bob Lefsetz's newsletter. The report also says Metallica will headline the event.
Speculation about additional shows for Zeppelin, which will play a stated one-off Dec. 10 in London in tribute to late Atlantic founder Ahmet Ertegun, has been buzzing for weeks.
A Bonnaroo spokesperson had no comment on the email. A Led Zeppelin spokesperson could not be reached at deadline.
Summer Zeppelin shows would reportedly conflict with a tour by frontman Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, which is presently being booked. However, Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones has played at Bonnaroo on several occasions, most recently this summer when he jammed on his old band's songs with Ben Harper and the Roots' ?uestlove.
As for Metallica, Bonnaroo would likely provide a launching pad for the group's next album, expected sometime in 2008 via Elektra.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this year the first year JPJ played at Roo?
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it

You're not wrong, so you should be correcting him!
But seriously, since the Metallica camp has proved this rumor false (www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=86054), I'm not sure why Billboard is even releasing such inane articles. I guess because the Bonnaroo folks declined to comment. But, see, of course they would... no matter what. Any rumors about anyone at all would create buzz about Bonnaroo, which they want. They wouldn't want to squelch that, even if they know it's patently untrue. But then again, they could also have declined to comment because the Zeppelin/Metallica rumor is only half untrue...

Inforoo never ceases to astound me. I casually flip through once a week like I always do this time of year and low and behold the first marginally possible rumor thread starts. Zeppelin and Metallica to headline!!!!!!!
I of course fall off my chair (which for those who don't know me is not a pretty sight, maybe even dangerous) I have waited all my life to see LZ. Even if not true, considering the possibility of "communication breakdown" at dusk oooooooooooo.
So I move on to the first 30 or so posts. One mentions how exciting LZ would be. 28 (slight exag) talks about how Metallica would ruin roo and one discounts the rumor because they think Pheeeeeeesh is playing two nights.
Give me a break. It would be Led Zeppelin.....Who cares if the other 100 bands are elementary flutiphone ensembles. ITs friggin Led Zeppelin.
But.... an elementary flutiphone ensemble would attract the wrong kind of crowd. Those a$$holes would totally ruin Bonnaroo for the rest of us. If you're source is correct, that might be enough to keep me from going.
i'm pretty worried now about not getting tickets... it almost makes me want to go to langerado, which i didn't feel like spending more money on before...
I think Bonnaroo should do something like a pre-sale for people who have attended previous year/s, although that would never happen
