This add fills a niche roo was missing this year and that makes me happy. Also I saw George Jones last year and as awesome as he was in his day id take greenday karaoke on what unopposed before subjecting myself to that again.
I really doubt Jack White sits in with Kenny Rogers and it's the only show Jack is at. I'd be pretty annoyed by it but I'm not expecting it to happen.
I can't speak for Jess and am not trying to, but I'm certainly not "expecting" a Jack sit-in, either. Just though his hologram during "Jolene" would be a craaaaazy-fun concept in light of the Tupac/Coach buzz.
I'd flat-out freak. But I know it ain't gonna happen -- any more than Prince is going to be there in person.
I was just thinking this morning that a lot of the people unhappy with Kenny, are going to be more unhappy after they skip the show, and it was the one show Jack White set in on.
This is far fetched as hell, but considering it will probably be against the Beach Boys I doubt I would even care. Well I would care, but it wouldn't change who I would rather see.
Surely it will not be Kenny VS the Beach Boys if it comes out that way it will not matter to me either. Is there any reason he would not be Friday?
I think he'll have a decent crowd. My wife wants to see him and I want to get a spot for The Civil Wars. I imagine his crowd will have quite a few of both types in it...
Kenny's show was excellent. I expected very little and attended to accompany my wife, for whom Kenny was her #2 act this weekend.
The energy in the room was astonishingly high, more like Fitz and the Tantrums than, say, Merle Haggard. Kenny was charming, and by the time the entire Manchester city leadership team arrived on stage to give him the key to the city, I was on board, even tearing up a bit from the vicarious thrill.
The Lionel Ritchie appearance was just amazing. Only at Bonnaroo. The visit seemed to me to be a surprise to Kenny. He had already started Lady, and Lionel joined in, duet style. Both guys were a bit sheepish about the incongruousness of the lyrics for two hetero guys.
