it's amazing how many of these comics have been featured on Funny as Hell, an HBO Canada show filmed during the Just for Laughs Comedy festival here in Montreal. Thanks to that show I know most of the bottom half of the list.
The comedy lineup is looking really good. I would probably like to see at least 6 of the ones listed because they are all so good. I'm most excited for Tim Minchin, been a huge fan of his for awhile now and he's only recently started doing shows here in the States. I wouldn't be able to travel for his other shows because I'm insanely broke after buying my ticket and covering all the expenses....so yay for me!
Maybe one of the worst comedy lineups since they've played up that aspect of the festival?
I don't care much about Cheech but the guys he's having his show with (Ralphie May, guys from Workaholics) are really funny so that will make his show good. He'll probably just be introducing them anyway.
John Waters and Henry Rollins are unique, for sure. Their acts may likely be less of a stand up comedy show and more of a one-man thing where they talk or show things or interview. It's interesting for sure IMO.
Lewis Black is great but that's just me. Some dislike him.
I'm a fan of everyone in The League, Donald Glover, Eugene Mirman and even the lower people on the card have made me laugh in small t.v. appearances and stuff.

i have to respectfully disagree with a few of you guys. i dig cheech and I'm hoping since he and tommy chong are on a national tour right now, he shows up as well.

Their tour ended in December. They are not working together right now. Cheech is "hosting" the 420 blaze thing which means he likely won't be doing much standup anyway. He'll likely come out and do a few minutes of talking/jokes and then introduce the other acts with him.

MY BAD you got me, i posted before i reread... i can honestly say i hadnt followed up on the cheech/chong tour in well over a month and i thought the second leg was running through the summer of 2011 as orginally planned but it does look like its over now.
the league and donald glover are full of win. the puppets also look funny.
john waters is a legend, but i don't know about a live set. i think you may be onto something ITM, maybe he will just do more stories and biographical stuff.
Really excited to see a few of these acts. In order of importance...
1. The League (particularly Nick Kroll, and especially if he does Febreeze Febreeze) 2. Ralphie May 3. Eugene Merman 4. Lewis Black 5. Donald Glover 6. Cheech (would be higher if Chong was with him. It's like announcing Garfunkel without Paul Simon)

His set at coachella last year was a traditional standup.

are you kidding - louis black is great, as is Ralphie May and Cheech. The puppets should be excellent - (as triumph was in 2009) and the Gregory brothers are amazing. Kathleen Madigan is always funny, as is Eugene Melman. The wild cards are John Waters (I am from Baltimore) and Henry Rollins. The first season of the league was the funniest show on semi-network telivision. I am a fan of this lineup - and the air conditioning, and the butterfingers frozen ice cream.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks so! I've loved her standup fer a long time now and hopefully I can catch her in the Comedy Theater. The puppet bit looks cool, and I'd love to catch Donald Glover and Cheech with Ralphie May and others! But...I have yet to do any Comedy Theater acts...maybe this year.
If I told them once, I've told them a hundred times to put spinal tap first and puppet show last.
Very nice Spinal Tap reference. Made me kinda wish Spinal Tap was booked this year. They could just wander around the farm looking for the stage entrance
John Waters did a speaking gig at my school recently. He is doing a tour to promote his most recent book. He basically does about an hour of storytelling, which is really funny at times and really quite interesting if you are into his work (I'm not but my girlfriend is). So while it is enjoyable if you are vaguely familiar with who he is, it definitely pays to know a few of the movies and background if you want to get the most of out of the stories. After he spoke for awhile, he opened up the floor to questions and did a Q/A thing for about 30-45 minutes. I would be willing to assume he will be doing something somewhat similar at Roo.
I saw Henry Rollins do his "spoken word" act before. Hated it! It was basically two hours of "here's all the cool places I traveled to, these Syrians are better than Americans, you all suck."
How does the comedy tent work? Do you just line up outside before the show starts and they let ppl in until it's full?
I thought somebody else answered it here (and I know I have elsewhere).
Check the schedule and see what comedy acts are playing that day. If there's a show you want to see, stop by the comedy tent early in the day and ask the person working there when you can pick up tickets for the show you want.
Tickets are free and just guarantee you entry.
They'll tell you when to come back and get tickets (usually sometime before the show you want starts and after the show before it begins). You pick up a ticket and then can either walk around to check out more music or you can get in line for the show you want to see. People who want to get front row will line up and wait the hour or two (or more) to be close for the show they want.
If you have a ticket, you will get in. You can walk up a few minutes before the show and have a spot. You may be far back but you'll be in.
