^If it is the best we are getting it is the biggest currently touring Rock and Roll act, that never plays festivals. Ain't nothing wrong with that.
still not buyin it - I don't see how they fit at Bonnaroo - there's just something incongruent about it. This is a forum where opinion's can be spouted and I'm spouting one now of course - I have never found anything satisfying in their music - they have never spoke to me. I couldn't care less about how commercially successful a band is only that they move me in some way. U2 doesn't - I am sure they have impacted some people - possibly in profound and magical ways - personally I don't get that from their music - That being said - and this is going against every natural urge and instinct - they would be a huge draw and I suppose would have a positive impact on attendence and when it comes down to it thats what organizers look for. Didn't mean to ruffle feathers but if this is true it's a disappointment for me.
Ok I get you don't like them what makes you think they are not a fit for Bonnaroo? I mean I am not a fan either, but I am sure they would fit plenty of people love that Leno.
Lost of fvcking morons on this board. U2 is the biggest band in the WORLD! Sorry you are too smug to realize the fact that they bring it. They will crush bonnaroo.

Fvking morons = people who only like their "high brow" music?

did you not see my sunglasses and leather motorcycle jacket joke a few post's earlier??
"Threre's one problem with this rumor. U2 are locked into an exclusive agreement with Live Nation to promote their concert performances until 2020. They can play glastonbury because Live Nation co-owns the festival.
Bonnaroo is owned by AC Entertainment, thus making it a business impossibility for them to play there"

Yep, they emailed me this back:
'Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have removed the reference to Bonnaroo until we can confirm that their appearance has been officially secured.'
Live Nation bought Musictoday(where you buy your tickets for Bonnaroo) sometime ago as well. I'd say that means they lend "help" to the booking process.
Is it an exclusive contract similar to U2? I really don't know.
I don't think it is exclusive for touring per se, it is just they actually book the tours at Live Nation. If they think they can do it and break a profit I can not see why they would shut AC/Red Light/Superfly out. Now they may want more than AC is willing to pay because they are playing close to 'roo and may not be as big a draw, but they sold out the Nashville show so I am doubt Live Nation cares much.
That being said a break in the tour does not mean much either. People take vacations after working hard and it is just as likely that, as it is they are playing Bonnaroo.
Also, there is no weight to a contract with Live Nation preventing you from playing bonnaro. Case and point, Capshaw owns a stake in bonnaroo for years now. He also owned music today, a little ticketing and merchandise operation in Crozet, Va. Capshaw manages DMB and Phish ect ect. Music today does ticketing for bonnaroo...music today was sold to Live Nation in 2009.... Clearly this statement came directly from your rectum. I have it on good authority U2 has been booked for bonnaroo, and it sounds like it's for this year. Get used to it, I had to
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.
U2 playing Bonnaroo seems likely at this point, and I have mixed feelings about it. Getting U2 is great, they are an incredible rock band that has made commercially successful music and lately hasn't produced as strong of albums.
"No Line on the Horizon" is bad, "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb" is alright, but they also are working on a ton of new material. So, I hope the set is more 80's U2 than 00's and new U2. If that happens, it will be great. But it also means no to Radiohead (hard to see them both playing 'Roo), McCartney (same reason as Radiohead), The Rolling Stones and a few other long shots that would have to be #1 on Bonnaroo's lineup (Prince, Zeppelin reunion, Bowie, etc.)

-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
No one should ever expect or even list Zeppelin or Bowie. Sure, I would rather have Macca, Prince, or Radiohead. But that's about it.
I agree that you should never expect Zeppelin or Bowie. But I was simply naming two other artists that would have to be #1 that I also would want instead of U2. It's a pretty short list.
