Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.

It doesn't matter if they're legendary, it doesn't matter if they have a deep catalog of classic songs, it doesn't matter that they put on one of the most expansive, impressive stage shows of any band touring today.
All that matters is that they've had some pop hits recently, and appear in commercials and stuff. Therefore, they are "commercial" and "sell outs" and for the "custies" and are definitely not "heady" "brah." Additionally, there's, like, no jamming at all. Henceforth, you must hate them with the fire of a thousand burning suns, because they had the audacity to become popular and make money.
Juggs, the cynicism is appreciated. The "jam band" base gave the same amount of crap to Metallica as Summerteeth pointed out but they still delivered a tremendous set. Hetfield stated on stage they were honored to play at 'Roo in '08 and they seemed genuinely grateful. But they will most likely be written off because they can't contain their vomit against Lars. So U2 are "evil" because they became popular and made money even though it took a dedicated fan base to achieve that and some Grammys. Isn't the point of Bonnaroo to give all types of music a shot? Did i think Tinariwen and his brand of Ethopian music was good last year, No! It was boring but it added to the diversity of music that makes Bonnaroo ridiculously one of a kind. But to all the "brahs" that think jamming is mandatory, it's not. I will take a well conceived song in its lyric and structure over a jam that tries to gel that over. (*cough Phish) YEAH I SAID IT! I think they are overrated. Bring it.

This year is going to be like the past 4 years - a lot of hype only proves one thing: you can't make everybody happy.
I don't think the headliners are "over-the-top," but I'm not disappointed either. Are you all getting Daft Punk, Radiohead, Neil Young, Arcade Fire, Furthur, My Morning Jacket, Prince, and David Bowie?
No.
But bear in mind (something I've slowly come to terms with) - the people behind this festival know what we want, and they know what would make a great festival. They certainly tried to book the likes of Daft Punk/Radiohead/The Beatles, but it isn't always feasible. You can't just make a band play your festival; and for most of these guys, more money isn't going to make a difference.
One headliner might come of something as a surprise. I don't keep up on every page of this board anymore, so I can't say exactly what has or hasn't been discussed. As badly as I want to tell you we are getting a Talking Heads reunion, there just isn't a surprise of that capacity in the deck.
Also - I don't know everything. Ultimately, the names I know make up a small part of the line up.
As I hear it shaking down, part of what will make Roo #10 awesome is the undercard.
Anyone else think the headliner he's referring to here is the one on Saturday night? I would say so, since we already know Friday and Sunday and they don't seem to be much of a surprise...
U2 is playing a festival in Canada with Arcade fire at the end of July. If they're playing one in Canada why not roo? I can't imagine them performing at the Tony's for 5 minutes would take up their entire weekend.
Still think U2 are Saturday's headliner and the hip-hop headliner that's causing a lot of fuss (my money's on Dr. Dre) will be late night What
That would give us an "alternative" headliner (Radiohead, Tool, Pearl Jam, Beastie Boys, Kings of Leon, Arcade Fire), jam headliner (Phil Lesh, Widespread, Widespread, Phish, Dave Matthews Band, Widespread), and a "classic" headliner (Tom Petty, The Police, Metallica, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, U2)

U2 is not playing a festival in Canada. They are having a concert in Moncton and Arcade Fire is opening for them
From the U2 website... U2 will perform at Magnetic Hill Music Festival in New Brunswick at the end of July with special guests Arcade Fire.
Ha, it is not a festival. It is a simple one day outdoor concert with one or 2 opening acts. Previous years they had The Eagles, AC/DC, Rolling Stones I live an hour from it.
Oh ok, I don't know anything about what goes on up there. I still don't think they should be entirely ruled out yet though. And as for them being the oasis of the 80's... They must be the oasis of the 80's, 90's, 2000's because they've had huge albums in every single decade. Maybe some of their music is elevatoresque and cheesy, but they also have a lot of amazing songs. I'm not gonna argue with ppl whether they're good or not because everyone has different tastes, but if anyone doesn't think they should headline than your basing that completely on how you feel about the music and not how huge the band really is, and how many other ppl would enjoy them.

I'd like to agree with you, but I'm kind of starting to doubt it.
With the bands we have now it seems as though Saturday night is going to be the top billed band this year. Even though we know a hip hop band is "headlining" Saturday, we also know that insider considered any band who plays the main stage past a certain point to be a "headliner". I could easily see the hip-hop act being the LN show(as usual) and the headliner being out top billed band. I'm not saying it's definitely U2... but it's still possible

i for one think it would be the tits if u2-dre/em-wsp-mmj- arcade fire- massive attack and robert plant are on the top of the lineup......more than qualifies for a tenth anniversary to me.
