There are so many pages and guesses that someone probably already mentioned this and I missed it, but there is an episode of Metalocalypse involving Ron Howard going back in time to save someone.. Thoughts?
Nice!!!!
I've never watched the show. Do you remember anything else about the episode that ties in with the clue?
Honestly, I never watch it either. I googled it, then asked my roommate if he remembered an episode with Ron Howard.. He said it exists, but he doesn't really remember it, either. Haha. I just know that Ron Howard is definitely tied to this clue, and with Dethklok already being heavily considered, it just seems to fit in perfectly. Just throwing out some finds and hoping to land an answer!

I couldn't find anything about Ron Howard being in Metalocalypse. But I did find he was in an episode of Mary Shelley's Frankenhole, another adult swim show. The episode is "Ronny Ron Ronald": Ron Howard goes back in time in and attempts to kidnap a younger version of himself to transplant his current brain into.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.

Frankenhole is also the name of an album by Bile.
My bad -- I just pulled up whatever I found on google. Thanks, though. I think we're really getting somewhere here..

Ok, I haven't commented on the clues althought I have been contemplating them. I took another look at the Roo Cues website today and something hit me regarding this clue. The metal band Valient Thorr just kinda smacked me in the face this time, I don't know why I haven't thought of it before. I believe they are from Raliegh, NC, close the the fictional Mayberry of the Andy Griffith Show (Ron Howard). The band claims to be time travelers from Venus. See this article for a brief explanation.
They are a southern metal band that are in the same genre as Kylesa, from clue number 3. Could this possibly be the answer? They are also currently on tour with Motorhead and Clutch.

I like it. Just make sure cursedlono gets to meet them cause that conversation will be VERY interesting.
when the cow jumped over the moon (trip into space) the egg (speckled lad) ran away with the SPOON (who was his demise, b/c they were in love). otherwise a very amazing moment, b/c we all know it is hard for a cow to jump over the moon.

If that happens I want to be there with my Flip to record the whole thing. I would NOT want to miss that conversation!

And hey, a spoon is made of metal! It works so well!
Okay I didnt read all 61 pages, but when I read this I think of the story of Icarus, who flew too close too the sun with wings of wax and fell to his death. After googling the story of Icarus, I found the following [Band followed by lyric/album]:
Counting Crows: "I am Icarus falling out of the sun" [Lyric]
Ani DeFranco: "Icarus" [Album]
Iron Maiden (2010): "Too close to the sun, and surely will burn, like Icarus before me or so legend goes" [Lyric]
Kansas: "...this foolish pride where Icarus died" [Lyric]
**Led Zeppelin: Swan Song Records...This picture was adopted by Led Zeppelin as the "Swan man" logo and appears in the centre of the Led Zeppelin vinyl LPs..Fallen Angel
NIN: Flew too high and burned the wing. Lost my faith in everything." [Lyric]
**Phish (The Squirming Coil): "... like Icarus, who had to pay with melting wax and feathers brown."
Regina Spektor: "Hi, I'm Icarus, I'm falling down from the dust of earth returning..."
Personally, I think it's Phish or Led Zeppelin. That might be just what I want to believe.
Come on guys! The answer has already been mentioned! Stop guessing new bands.
phishtick, good guess with Iron Maiden. Unfortunately, that has been ruled out.
Gary Chardonnay: "As previously stated, close but you didn't quite hit the nail on the head." (in response to SteveoKnievo guessing Iron Maiden, Iron and Wine, and Iron Horse)

Valiant Thorr would be pretty cool. Hammerfall also might be a reasonable guess, but I see they are playing in Sweden on June 11th.
*edit: Hammerfall's guitarist, Stefan Elmgren, left the band in 2008 to pursue his career as a pilot (a trip to space thwarted). The band hasn't done much since, but is doing a tour in 2011, including some festivals in Europe.

As previously stated, the answer to the clue has already been brought up in this thread, and we've narrowed the possibilities down to these:
Apollo 13 Alice in Chains Amon Amarth Bolt Throwers Corrosion of Conformity Dethklok Eagles of Death Metal Halford Kyuss Lives! Mastodon Picture Praxis QOTSA Storm Corrosion Sun 0))) Tiamat The Knife GWAR Metallica Meshuggah Hawkwind
when the cow jumped over the moon (trip into space) the egg (speckled lad) ran away with the SPOON (who was his demise, b/c they were in love). otherwise a very amazing moment, b/c we all know it is hard for a cow to jump over the moon.
Soooo, I never, EVER mess with clues... but after a message from SFA the other night, I peeped in here... The Alice in Chains theory is interesting... morbid, but interesting. Jerry Cantrell used Ozzy's rhythm section for one of his solo albums, the album which came out shortly after Layne's death, and was dedicated to him...
That may not make any sense, but that's what immediately came to mind... I'll pop back in if I can think of anything else.
Edit for a little more info: Cantrell also has collaborated with Danzig and Gov't Mule. He also was on Ozzy's album Under Cover with Mike from Faith No More, the album whose songs make up the majority of the Prince of Darknesscompilation.

Yeah, but which of those actually make a lot of sense with the original clue plus the hint? And not in a Leno-y way.
I don't know, but I have to keep saying it because some people don't want to actually read the thread and they keep listing off whatever despite the fact that we have already narrowed down the possibilities.

I think we have been led to the movie apollo 13 by GC. That movie came out in 1995. Kyuss broke up in 1995. Kyuss had a reunion last november and an album coming out in 2011..

Just Hawkwind and The Sword.
I think he means stuff we named in the thread.
Edit: The way he answered was weird though. He usually uses correct grammar, but in the answer he gave me he said "u" instead of "you". I don't know if that's of any significance.
if he means stuff named in the thread it HAS to be after page 55 or so... I think he means that either YOU had the right answer, (the sword or Hawkind) or the right answer is one of the bands I mentioned that werent Kyuss. (SoaD, SF, and Slipknot)

NO, dude. We have a list of possible bands. Hold on, I'll update it.

Hawkwind - Playing in Sweden on the 11th of June. Kyuss Lives! -Ruled out by Gary? Mastodon Playing in Poland on the 10th of June Meshuggah Metallica -They are announcing a tour with "The Big 4" on the 25th of January. So that's a pretty safe no. Picture Praxis QOTSA Storm Corrosion Sun 0))) Tiamat The Knife

I wish the OP would update
Edit: I think that Kyuss is still a possible answer. I just don't think that Gary is going to help us anymore on this clue. I imagine that you could tweet every act on that list to him and he would give you the same answer that I just got.
