I understand how you feel, and there is a difference between favors and freeloading. There's also a difference between asking and demanding/taking... Just like we've all used this board to ask for advice or some even for rides (yet this isn't freeloading?)...
I don't really think you can compare asking for advice or rides (many of which are reimbursed) to asking for money by someone that probably can get a job yet chooses not to work.
Also (and I don't know this guy from Adam, so I'm going out on a limb here) there's always the possibility that he can't work. Able-bodied isn't always able-minded. My point with the perspective thing you quoted was that you never know exactly where someone is coming from. It's nice that you feel that if you CHOSE not to work you would never ask people for money... But something tells me that you may feel differently if you were in that position, even if it were chosen... Depends on the amount of need/desire I suppose...
I don't see how I would ever choose not to work then ask for money. It doesn't matter what the situation is when you choose not to work.
Also, the explanation I got was that he could work last year, yet there was a snafu with his paperwork. That proves he is able-minded, yet won't get his own money.
"Chicago is known as the Windy City, and Montana is called the Big Sky State, so I think that we should somehow combine the two to create the ultimate kite-flying experience. "-Mitch Hedberg
Maybe the snafu with his paperwork is a sign that he wasn't able minded. I'll let this die, since everyone is relatively happy and you seem to have it all figured out.
But asking for tickets at a show is nothing new folks... he's just asking on a board (and yes, maybe taking advantage of some good will) instead of hanging outside a venue.

Excuse me, but it's called a discussion. No need for a personal comment like that.
And, no, it's not a sign that he's not able-minded when his paperwork didn't come through. Roofanintn said it was a snafu himself.
If he's able to walk the country, I would think he would be able-minded enough for a job.

Wow - whoa... Sorry if you took something the wrong way, but I didn't mean anything to be a negative personal comment. I'll just step right out of this one since you seem very passionate about it and I'm apparently coming across as aggressive when I didn't mean to and was honestly intending to be part of a discussion. Sorry for any misunderstanding, and if you'd like me to clarify my comment or something feel free to ask/PM me.
like the person on the street asking for change you can either give a quarter or walk on by
ps. Maybe we need corncats help here
Yea but when I see people on the street I normally walk to the nearest fast food establishment and bring them back an application with a pen of course....then offer them the kind deed of returning the completed application for them so they can stay and pan handle some more.......not quite sure what i can do in this situation

For me, thats the thing. This is not about you. I cannot imagine not working either. It is pointless to dicuss IF he can work or SHOULD he work, of course he SHOULD, IF he can! But he doesn't. We all get that!
So, the real question comes down to: Do you want to help this guy?

I never said it was about me. I'm supporting my side of the discussion. What is hard to understand about that?
People on here saying people should help then don't are no use on this thread, just as many have said people who don't agree are no use.
If you want to help, then help. If you don't, then don't. We should be able to voice our opinions.
Oh...I'm not even answering your last question. You know the answer.

SMITE AWAY PEOPLE. I DARE YOU.
Yeah, I just got smited... first time I think... at least first time that I've noticed.
Edit - Yahoo! It's back, and brought a friend. Thanks to whatever kind soul made up for whoever was channeling the mad smiter!
No I really don't have 10 dollars. And I do see why people would not want to help. I suppose you are going to tell me I do have 10 dollars and I don't see how people would not want to help? ;D

To Kramer supportes:
I don't think that he would want us turning on each other, arguing with each other and ruining our communal Inforoo vibe. I don't think he would want to be the cause of a Inforoo war.
To the rest of us:
I'm sure that none of us want his irresponsible actions to come between us. The last thing we should do is let Kramer show-up and needlessly start a war of words on Inforoo, a normally peaceful place. If nothing else, let's just not give him the attention that he's apparently seeking.
To EVERYONE here: If BigLou is offering to buy Kramer a ticket, then it's already resolved. I don't think that any of us are going to talk him out of it. While I don't really agree with what Lou is doing, I have to give him credit for 1.) being extremely kind 2.) trying to end this pointless back and forth bullshit.
No matter where you stand on this subject, you shouldn't let it dominate our road to Bonnaroo.

Yea, me too Dude!
And I have said I hope people help him out. I don't ever recall saying no one should help him out. I said I wouldn't be helping him out for the reasons posted.
