1 legitimate complaint I think everyone can agree on, is that the Which Stage has definite drawbacks--especially if you don't get there early and/or want to watch the entire set. Getting up close for the Flaming Lips wasn't hard as I'd lost my friends and was alone, but once there I just abandoned the idea of leaving. It sucks having to push your way out of the crowd. Luckily I had a blast, but the way the stage is set up it can really prevent you from seeing/enjoying whoever is playing there.
Probably not the answer people want to hear, but I didn't see a single bad set this year. I actually thought the preformances this year were better than last year for some reason.
We couldn't be in more agreement Jay.... I saw 25 shows in 4 days (13 full sets & 12 partials) and wasn't disappointed in anything I saw. Maybe I'm just easy to please....

That's how I feel. i wouldn't catagorize anything I saw as bad.
Hm, I thought some of the artists listed here thus far put on some of the best shows of the weekend. Damien Rice, Flaming Lips, Tool, Nightwatchman, Clutch, etc were all some of my favorite sets. But then again, I was pretty close for all of those.
If I had to pick out a most disappointing set for me...aside from Ornette's heat stroke, I'd probably say Ween or Kings of Leon. I've never really been a big Ween fan, but I thought I'd check them out to see what the big deal was about them, but I still was less than impressed. *shrug*
And Kings of Leon, I just think that their energy doesnt translate well on such a huge stage. I would have much rather seen them in a tent.
I probably would say the Police as well, but I didn't actually see them, so that wouldnt be fair. I just listened to some of their set.
i agree with everyone who was dissapointed in tool and the police even though i don't like tool, i came in to the show expecting a good show, but quickly left for superjam. maybe its just not my cup of tea also for the police, they didn't really sound together musically and it sounded a little forced. also left for flips on this one good thing the shows i left for were fantastic!

Only one that mildly disappointed me was the Police. Good thing I left to get a spot for the Lips! I loved Ween, Regina Spektor, Tool... I thought almost everyone gave 110%
am i the only one who absolutely loved the annuals' show? i loooooved that show, but i was up front so it sounded excellent. they rocked it and with a arcade-fire-fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants-sensibility. i was in the seventh level of bliss for that show.
i was pretty disappointed with spoon's show, mainly because i was interested in so many other bands. i really like spoon's albums, but their stuff usually takes a few listens for me to dig, and they relied heavily on their new stuff.
tool was incredible, but i don't really like 10,000 days except for 'wings.' i liked feist's fast stuff but their slow songs were snoozers.
I saw no bad shows at all, (I overslept at camp and missed The Police, but that one sounds to me like the big letdown of Roo. I was a little bored at Keller's Show, I really prefer his solo shows, it gives him a chance to be the entertainer that he is.
I have to agree, I didn't see a bad show. There were some that I personally LIKED better than others...but that is just my musical taste preferences. But nope, not a bad show in the bunch....all the muscians I saw were totally on and giving 110%! Course I did have good spots for most shows that I REALLY wanted to see, and made sure I got comfy for the the ones I just wanted to listen to. And I made sure I was in a good mood all weekend...that surely helped....
And Kings of Leon, I just think that their energy doesnt translate well on such a huge stage. I would have much rather seen them in a tent.
Although I LOVE Kings of Leon, I completely agree. They always play close together at other shows. It's too much stage for them. Seeing them at a small venue, or in the case of Bonnaroo, a smaller stage would have been amazing!
also the behavior of Lily Allen was expected since I read a ton of reviews of her live performance beforehand. So her forgetting the lyrics during "Alfie" and getting messed up on Jager didn't bother me so much. I thought it was hilarious, actually.

I think the Kings of Leon just need to rework their setlist and they'll be much better off... They have songs that could potentially get the entire What Stage rockin, they just didn't play most of them.
Yeah wow. I don't know what shows you guys were at but I thought the Annuals was amazing. I was right up front so that might have something to do with it. The lead singers mic was not turned up, and that was annoying. So if you weren't up front, I could see it sounding sh!tty. They played their little hearts out and it was quite magical.
The Nightwatchman was also one of my favorites from the weekend. He gave it his all and had the tent jumpin to an acoustic guitar. How many people can whip a crowd into a frenzy with an acoustic and a harmonica.
And Tool. I was to the left of the soundboard and that sh!t was loud as hell. I've never felt bass like that in my life. I thought the double bass drum was gonna pound my heart out of my chest. Another one of my favorite sets of the weekend.
So yeah, different strokes for different folks I guess. I definitely didn't see any bad sets. I thought the Police was very uninspired, but I didn't think they were bad.
I loved every show I saw. I thought last year was amazing, but this year just blew me away. I see a lot of shows throughout the year and tend to get a bit complacent, my expectations lowered after many mediocre bands, and Bonnaroo just serves as a reminder of just how good music can be.

I think it is clear if 60,000 people attend a show - you'll get 60,000 different reports of how good it was, the sound, the setlist, the crowd, etc. The only remotely dissapointing show i heard was The Police - I still managed to enjoy them and was excited about the hype of the reuinion and all that, but if they hadn't been The Police... I woulda been pretty bored. They tried to improvise but it came off sounding a bit forced.
I was disappointed in the Nightwatchman. Just not my cup of tea, and so polar opposite of the work that i think he is a genius for. I've really tried to make myself like it, but i cant.
I thought the police were just kinda going through the motions, but still had fun. Had i not have put on my costume and started messing with people i probably would have fallen asleep though, as it had been a long, hot day.

POLICE sucked. we waited until Roxanne to leave only because that was the one song my gf wanted to hear
I can't say they sucked but I can say I was not impressed - we were all the way on the left side of the stage - we made it to the back by the portapotties when they started Roxanne - so we started leaving maybe a song before that
ditto, The Police were ok at best for me. I left early to get a close spot for the F'lips so i could hit some giant balloons around at midnight. on top of that, i got to see the "Soundcheck" of War Pigs.
Personally, the White Stripes turned me from a moderate listener into a huge fan on that Sunday afternoon. blew me away
I second that!
Thirded here! Their set was tied with franti and spearhead for the biggest surprise for me, and both were for different reasons. I cant wait to see them at the end of the month at Sloss furnaces.
