What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
soooo, while logging onto yahoo a "news" thing popped up - the spice girls are getting back together and starting tour in Dec. I couldn't help but think of this thread and post it. bonnaspice anyone? I can't help but giggle at the thought of them at bonnaroo '08 I'm not pro or anti spice girls, just thought I would share. Maybe we should start a new thread - "top NONbonnaroo bands" - just for sh#*s and giggles. maybe that's already a thread. ok so friday night at Which and the crowd is chanting "spice, spice, spice, spice" or, ooooh, they could be part of superjam ;D ;D ;D haahahahahahaha

Speaking of Beastie Boys, I'd love for them to come and play 2 sets. One set being their usual hip-hop and the other set being their instrumental jam session type songs like off of The Sound from Way Out and (most recently) The Mix Up.

I know this is going to be slightly blasphemic but...
plz, no Mike Patton.
lol, slightly blasphemic?
naturally, I'm biased, but why not? My preference would be Peeping Tom, but I could also see Tomahawk, Lovage(!) or something completely original coming from Patton. Team him up with Bjork, Rhazel, Norah Jones, Massive Attack, just name a band or performer....
I doubt it would be Fantomas, though I wouldn't object...

Or team him up w/ John Zorn and Eye from the Boredoms for a late night noise fest. It will never happen at Roo, but if it did I would be there in a heartbeat.

All 3 should be at roo, you never know, someday it could happen!

Nice line up, you added a few bands that I meant to add, such as The Derek Trucks Band, and CAKE.

I've mentioned this in the past, but I think Roo should do something (special tent, special night in the Troo lounge, anything) to hilight the wonderful musical phenomenon that isd the ONE-MAN BAND!
Can you imagine being drawn over to a tent by the strains of some awesome tunes, only to discover that one guy is making all that racket? Maybe it's just me, but One-man bands just seem so Rock n Roll! I'm gonna rock even if no one else wants to!
Leading the charge would have to be these two That One Guy and his magical pipe
...and Bob Log III and his monkey paw slide guitar ride
Hell, even Andrew Bird or Keller could "Headline" a one-man band tent.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
portishead, and i think this may be possible cause their new album comes out... well shortly after christmas and i take it they will be touring
I had no idea they had an album on the way...this excites me! Thanks for the news!
...On a smaller stage but The Zoopy Show...these guys are nuts, I'm seeing them Sunday for the first time, but something tells me I don't need to see these guys to know they'd be awesome at 'roo
minus the bear. --then i could die happy. rage against the machine ---b/c i'm pretty sure i'm in love w/ zack modest mouse band of horses the strokes the shins bright eyes taking back sunday? the postal service or death cab either would be fine w/ me. although i dont like to associate them as the same band. david gray not necessarily the chili peppers but def. john frusciante! nine inch nails feist. cus i missed her this year. neutral milk hotel and could we please get some brian jonestown massacre only because anton newcombe will do something completly unpredictable that will make everyone's weekend!
The Allman Brothers, MMW, Paul Simon, The Mars Volta, Sufjan Stevens, Flying, Garage a Trois, Eagles of Death Metal, Derek Trucks, Fiona Apple, Eric Clapton, the Beastie Boys, etc.
Les is a definite yes... If The Police are done by then and Stewart and Trey are up for it, I would kill to see Oysterhead back. Give Les his solo show and give us an Oysterhead set and I can expire right there on the grass a happy happy man.
Nick Cave & Badseeds would be fantastic to see also, but not in a headliner slot. 2nd stage maybe. I kind of doubt they would do it, but still...
English Beat would be pretty cool... They are touring again but I don't know how good their current live shows are. They used to be awesome live. Again, not a headliner but very worthy a stage and time slot.
My Morning Jacket. Great shows, good music, usually a very cool crowd of fans. What more could ya want?
The Dynamites w/ Charles Walker should come back and get a stage next year. Great live. They busted the roof off the Troo this year and will have a good solid following by January with their presence at fesitvals. Plus, they are TN local based. If not timed opposite something like Stripes or Lips they would get a good crowd.
But I've heard voices not in the head Out in the air they called ahead Through ripped out speakers Through thick and thin They found a shelter Under my skin -Evgeny Aleksandrovitch Nikolaev
So many good suggestions on here! Best suggestions I've seen so far (of those who've never played the Roo before) are
Explosions In The Sky (amazing) Daft Punk (even more so) Massive Attack (would be perfect I think) Band Of Horses (excellent) Sigur Ros (beautiful) Bob Dylan (wouldn't surprise me that much) and lastly...PORTISHEAD...I've wanted to see them for ages and Bonnaroo would be just amazing for them!
Some other suggestions that I don't think I've seen (although I haven't read every post):
Animal Collective (any fans out there? I think they'd be perfect for Bonnaroo) !!! (Even better than Hot Chip, seriously) LCD Soundsystem (Same deal as !!!) Boards of Canadas (although I bet someone mentioned this)
As for people that should return, I'll just mention two that I feel should be there EVERY year:
My Morning Jacket, so obvious Tortoise, I would die if they played a light night show, they should share it with some other awesome Post-rock band, would be the best trip ever.
