I saw that this album leaked yesterday, I grabbed it but haven't had a chance to listen to it yet. Has anyone heard it yet? If anyone wants me to, I can upload it somewhere after work so you can check it out... If there's any demand for that, say so here. I'm definitely excited to hear what it sounds like though, I'm kind of hoping it's not all like the stuff of his that I saw on YouTube...

Icky Thump will top those.
yeh, for sure. I also think the Nightwatchman album will be excellent, possibly one of the top 3 of the year. I have heard around 8 songs off the album, and they have all been perfect. I will definitely buy it the day it comes out, and I will post a better review then. I have no desire to pirate the music, and there is really no need to post a link to the leaked album, as there are several places where you can listen to full songs off the album:
Yeah, I like what I've heard from him. It didn't grab me as amazing, but it's good stuff. It's pretty strange knowing it's the same guy playing guitar for RATM, but he writes good songs.
I also noticed he's touring with Ben Harper all the way up to Bonnaroo. There are some great collaboration chances there.

Thanks for the heads up, I gotta go gimme a listen.
I can tell you without even listening that the new Deerhoof and Andrew Bird albums trump this for me. In another few weeks something will drop that trumps it all.
Elliott Smith- New Moon (2cd) So far the versions of High Times and New Monkey I've heard are amazing.
I was born in the back seat of a Yellow Cab in a hospital loading zone and with the meter still running. I emerged needing a shave and shouted 'Time Square, and step on it!
Ah, I didin't like the videos of Nightwatchmen at all, but I'm gonna get the leak and see how it is. None the less, I'm gonna see Morello at roo, just cuz it's Morello at roo, regardless of how the music is... can't really say that about anyone else.
Lots of the songs have been on the Nightwatchman myspace.com site for a while and the video was out last week. Personally, I love the songs and the video, but then I've loved everything he's done since Lock Up! (OK, so notsomuch the Lock Up stuff, but hey, everyone has to start someplace!) And right on....it IS Morello....how many times can you say you saw one of the best of the best play? I am sooooo psyched! He will have many guest appearances and he will guest with many at Roo, of that you can pretty much bet. It is the Nightwatchman way......

indeed. Even if I didn't like his Nightwatchman stuff, I would go to his show. Hell, he could be playing any kind of music and I would go just to see the greatest guitarist of our generation perform.

I actually think there is a good chance of Zack De La Rocha making an appearance during Tom's set. They just got done doing a set together as a part of the truth tour:

The acoustic set included three Rage songs,"Bulls on Parade," "People of the Sun," and an encore performance of "Down Rodeo."
Wouldn't it be amazing if ZDLR decided to hit up the Roo....
Quite so! But I'm not going to hold my breath....I can't see 'Roo being Zach's thing. Or maybe so....? It had crossed my mind. Not hard to imagine a Tom/Zach/Maynard reunion on "Know Your Enemy" on a warm June Tennesse night now is it?
I hear the Nightwatchmen are playing in the comedy tent this year.
Kidding, I and my roommates were quite disappointed at hearing the 4 tracks that are up on their myspace after hearing it was the Rage Against the Machine guitarist. I can't help but feel the lyrics are some of the plainest jane lyrics I've heard in a while. To be completely honest, we were drunk, but my roommates and I all had a good hearty laugh for an hour or two listening to the myspace songs. Several lines have kind of turned into inside jokes for us. We like this kind of music, but it just didn't sound like Morello is one for writing song lyrics.
Regardless, I hope they put on a great show at Bonnaroo! I might dip in and see if they change my opinion from their live stuff.

I hope you can catch him live, I think you'll be more impressed than with the recorded tracks. Protest music is always best drank hot while the masses are thirsty so to speak But hey, his stuff is definitely not for everyone. And agreed, he isn't the world's strongest lyricist, but in all fairness most of those songs were written over 4 years ago. I'd like to see how far he's come with some new stuff. But I don't think he's ever going to be a Zach or a Layne Staley or a Sting lyric wise.

He^. From what i've read about his previous concerts, its probably gonna be about half of his set with guests and covers. From the looks of it his shows are hardly Nightwatchmen shows at all, just basically Morello and Friends.

;D And this is a bad thing because???? ;D
Hey, one album's worth of songs, you gotta do covers. I'll be happy to sit and listen to the RATM catalog or Audioslave or any of his "friends" songs...he's got way cool friends. I'd take his friends......

I expect Tom to at least play Guerilla Radio, outside of that I'm not sure what other covers he will do. Also, give the dude credit--he is an amazing guitarist, and he happens to have a good voice and a decent songwriter.

Oh yeh, I forgot about that one. I believe at SXSW he brought out all of his friends for that one. Thanks for reminding me about that. Karmatastic (once I get the ability to give out Karma again since I just gave someone else Karma).
edit: bamabelle, I sent you a friend invite on last.fm, and it is totally kick-ass that you listen to Temple of the Dog!
