yeh, we do seem to have really similar music taste. Do you like any other grunge stuff? I used to be a pretty hardcore grunge fan, especially Nirvana, the Screaming Trees, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Temple of the Dog.
Anyway, I better get back on topic...I just watched my Axis of Justice Concert DVD and it was pretty sweet. Tom's performance of The Road I Must Travel with Pete Yorn, Brad Wilk, and Serj Tankian was really cool.

Well considering it is 20 bucks for a CD/DVD Combo, its not too bad. Plus, there are a lot of great musicians that make appearances on the CD/DVD. And, the 20 dollars goes to the Axis of Justice to help those that are less fortunate. Giving to a good cause + amazing music= money well spent. At the end of the DVD Flea, Brad Wilk, Tom Morello, Pete Yorn, Tim Walker, Serj Tankian, Maynard James Keenan, and Jonny Polonsky cover "Where the Streets Have No Name" by U2. Good stuff.
Don't think I knew how many people were involved in that one. Sounds cool though. Flea cracks me up, actually all the Chili Peeps do! Good music though. And he's not Tom, but Frusciante is one awesome axe-man!
I really like Flea and Frusciante. However I don't really like RHCP *braces to lose Karma* but I do like John Frusciante's solo work a lot. I guess I just don't like Anthony Kiedis' vocals very much. Thats the only conclusion I can come to, because I like the other musicians in the band.

hehe, thanks
yeh, Frusciante has some really good solo stuff. I have two of his albums--Shadows Collide with People and Inside of Emptiness. I definitely recommend Shadows Collide with People, and I would recommend the other but I haven't listened to it all the way through yet. I told my friends if Frusciante took over vocals for RHCP I would start listening to them
edit: and yes, people have taken karma from me for disagreeing with me, whether it is on who should be added, etc.

lol someone just took karma from me!
How funny! Well, no not funny. Well, yes, funny! Sorry.... ;D
I'll probably lose karma by association.....bad influence....bad, bad influence!!!!
I'll have to check out JFs solo stuff. Meanwhile keep up the rebel rousing, the Nightwatchman would be proud!!
No doubt! I'll be running out at lunch and grabbing it, along with the Rodrigo and Gabriela CD if I can find it too....got hooked on them thanks to Inforoosters!!

well I bought the album early this morning and listened to it before I went to class. I thought it was pretty solid all the way through, although there were a few weak songs like "Let Freedom Ring" and "The Garden of Gethsemane." I actually got a Bruce Springsteen Nebraska/The Ghost of Tom Joad vibe from several of the songs (not a bad thing, I love both albums). My favorite song off the album is "California's Dark" and overall I liked the album and it lived up to my expectations.

Hee! I got it at lunchtime and listened all afternoon to drown out all the crap (if I stay plugged in people leave me alone a LITTLE more often). I agree on California's Dark - great song! I actually liked this version of Garden of Gethsemane, much better than the previous versions I have heard of it in other NW shows. I agree Freedom is pretty weak and I was not impressed with Flesh Shapes the Day. Really liked Until the End and my grandma would have loved Union Song. Still think my fave is the title track though. Something about "One Man Revolution" just struck me the first time I heard it, kind of like "Revelations" did off the last Audioslave record. I think it will always be one of my faves. Just the right fit.....
I really like "Revelations" as well, it is one of my top 3 favorite Audioslave songs. I think "One Man Revolution" would have had a similar effect to "Revelations" if it had been the first song of the album. I don't understand why it wasn't first, but oh well. I thought "Until the End" was a perfect closing song to the album.
WOW, this album is nothing short of amazing! Not exactly what I've come to expect Tom to sound like but WOW. His lyrics are truly extrodinary. I can't wait to see what he's got up his sleeve for 'Roo.
Yeah, I'm kind of with you on not understanding why he didn't open the record with the title track, I think that would have made a stronger statement too. But I guess that's the perks of it being your record
What's the odds of Zack De La Rocha showing up and playing an acoustic set with Tom? Personally, I'm pretty pumped to see Tom in the form of The Nightwatchman.

I hope ZDLR shows up for an acoustic set like he did at the Concert for Fair Food, seen here:
However, that was a special occasion, so I don't know if Zack and Tom would do an acoustic set for anything else. Although, we can always hope/wish and dream. Obviously, it would make my Bonnaroo to see Zack in person, as Rage Against the Machine is my favorite band.
OK, had to DIG this thread back up from the ashes as it were
Just had to post this....am LMAO as I type this....for any out there that are STILL not convinced that Tom Morello is not worthy of guitar god status.....(can't imagine that there are any, certainly that would be reading this thread, but have seen some doubters around soo....)
Got the "O'Ficiall" recorded version guitar tablature book for the first Audioslave record yesterday. Finally had a chance to sit down and start figuring some of it out tonight....of course I don't have the setup TM (nor the talent!!!) has so I"ll have to fake a lot of it. Some of the solos look like college Trig! I don't think I have ever seen graphs in tabs before! But anyhoo....direct from the notes on "Like a Stone"...
"This song was recorded using guitars with ultra light strings and tuned up 1 1/2 steps. To avoid warped necks, broken strings, and [glow=red,2,300]personal injury[/glow], remain in standard tuning and capo at the third fret."
I don't think I have ever needed a warning label with a guitar tab before.....

haha
Tom has some incredible solos with Audioslave. I can't believe he still doesn't get respect from some people after being a great guitarist in three different projects. That being said, I might as well post some stuff I compiled on another forum for my "Tom Morello Thread." I recommend the first link, which is a compilation of a bunch of Tom's Audioslave solos.
Here is a video with a bunch of Tom's solos when he was with Audioslave, including some covers on Soundgarden and Rage Against the Machine songs:
Rage Against the Machine Tom:
Know Your Enemy:
Bulls on Parade (At Woodstock):
Bullet in the Head (Grand Olympic):
I'm sure most of you have seen the Rage videos before.
Tom as The Nightwatchman:
"The Road I Must Travel" Music Video, really cool:
"Maximum Firepower," Introduced by his Mom:
"House Gone Up in Flames":
"Until The End":
Tom Morello Interviews:
Tom on TRL- Really Cool:
On the Opie and Tom Show:
Interview on Some Swedish show (Good interview except the part where the narrator calls Zack annoying):

LOL!! look out for the dangerous TAB LMAO!!!
Tom Morello is a guitar WIZARD. he sometimes makes his electric sound like a turntable. he's a living link between hip-hop and punk. throwing in the acoustic stuff just makes him that much better. imagine putting MC5, Big Daddy Kane, and Johnny Cash in a blender. that's Tom.
HEE! It's a wonder the PMRC didn't jump all over that one
Talk about needing parental advisory stickers....only approved for players 8+??? LOL!
Those links are great ZDLR....I hadn't seen some of those Nightwatchman ones.....I love Mary! She's so cool. Happy Mother's Day Mary M!!
Totally changing subjs....Battle of Mexico City is my fave RATM concert DVD....it has the best live versions of all their songs IMO....especially Freedom, LUV that version!!

I know the odds of this happening are slim to none but I would very happy if this was to work out. Wouldnt it be a treat if Maynard came out to sing one of his tracks off APC fame, or more of his anti war rhetoric with Tom Morello playing along side. I would love to see a cover if Imagine with them two together. They are playing the same day, Tool has 2 days off before hand, and 3 days off after roo so his voice might be able to take the extra strain. Also they both have been friends with each others bands for a long time. I think it would be an amazing collab but likely never to happen.

It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."
