Did ya'll know that prince DID make an appearance at vegoose this year? It was during Maceo Parker's late night show and from what I heard Prince randomly came out from the left side of the stage, was thrown a guitar, procedded to rip it up for about a minute, Threw back the guitar, then walked off the other side of the stage. So who knows...bonnaroo next?
Prince is the man. I saw him in concert about two years ago and it was an unbelievable show. He may not be Bonnaroo's typical style but he would bring the energy.
And as for The Police.....shit Stewart Copeland is enough for me. Just the fact that I get to see his badass self on those drums again would be awesome. And I would hope they would play everything from their Reggata De Blanc album.

Also, a reason i said prince over the police is because i think prince would play longer, and tighter, jams then the police, making it easier for him to fill the spot, and satisfy the audience. And to the person who said prince is primarily an 80's artist, i belive both musicology and 3121 have been #1 on the charts when they were released not too long ago. And prince is definatly an awesome musician, i read somewhere that he composes all the music on his albums, and plays all the instruments equally well.
I agree Prince really can kick out the jams. It's obvious between that half-time performance and his past appearances on SNL and such that he loves to shred live. If you can find it on youtube, find his "interview" before the Superbowl. It's great, as soon as they ask him a question he goes into "Johnny B. Goode."
For a while I thought that Prince would be too glamorous to play a festival like Bonnaroo, but watching him dance in the rain shows he's still got balls, even at 48.

My thoughts exactly^, i have a lot more respect for him after seeing him wail in the rain. I personally think that embodys the type of artist we want a roo, someones who out there for the music and the fans no matter what. I dont know what happened, i guess the same thing as yours. ;D
Prince would be awsome at Bonnaroo. I had no idea that he could rip on guitar until I saw him on VH1 when he was on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Cermony a few years back. But, I heard that he doesn't sing alot of his old stuff anymore because he joined a church. So that means no shockadelica, alphabet street, or any of his old dirty songs. But purple rain and when doves cry would be reason enough to go see him anyway.

Thats what he was saying when Musicology came out but 3121 is very sexual
Looking back at the performance on Youtube, anyone else notice how during the "Purple Rain" solo, the curtain creates a shadow of a character with, uh, an enormous d!ck?

I dont know about him being more religious now, but i think for the musicology tour he just said he wanted to do something the whole family could come and see, so he toned it down for that tour.

One of the days i wore a purple rain shirt and one of the vendors asked me if i had been purified in the waters of lake minitonka. My friend didnt get it at all, it was pretty funny.
Radiohead didn't lipsync, and they played their instruments. I would love to see Prince, but Roo is more about the music IMHO.
You're stupid. Prince is THE MAN. He doesn't lip sync and he can whale on the guitar. I don't know if you were drunk or sipping too much of that there absynth, but you can't go calling false shots around here.
Actually I don't drink, but maybe you and many others are right, it could have been sound issues, but after watching the video, i am sticking to my theory that the guitar was at least partially enhanced somehow.
And it is wail, not whale, on a guitar dumbass.
But if prince played roo, you can bet your ass I would be there, I just didn't get all hot and bothered by rain and explosions from last nites show.
Prince would never need to pre-record his guitar parts. He's a ridiculous talent, as full of himself as he is I don't think he'd let them prerecord his parts. So much of what he plays is improvised, it's stuff you wouldn't tape, and he just nails it.

I'm sure i will get ripped a new one for this, but o well
1. Prince, sucks.
2. Prince does not belong @ bonnaroo in any way, shape or form.
3. This years superbowl show, as in years previous, sucked, like really bad. He did almost nothing but half-@ssed covers, if you would even call them covers. He played about a minute of watchtower, which was god-awful, and then went into a foo fighters cover. woooo hoooo
4. Prince has, and always will, sound like a b1tch in purple rain

Are you serious? Do you know anything about music at all? Or is it that you just don't know sh*t about Prince except what you've seen on "I Love The 80s"? Or did you really think that 10 minutes of the SuperBowl (the most commercial tv show ever) was a good way to measure ANY musician? Or is it just stupidity? Whatever it is, it's your loss!
well now your taking it overboard. hes a hell of a musician. but buddy guy, bill frisell, james brown, bob dylan, steve winwood, the dead etc... all have him beat by a million light years. but i agree that im not sure how someone can hate on princes music unless they arent really familiar with it. its just the image that everyone dislikes i think... but the dude can rock!

Well while im not positive, i dont believe all those guys can play pretty much every instrument in their bands, like prince can. I agree that hes not as good at one instrument as them, but his breadth is also something to consider.
