. The only thing I didn't like was the dirty looks many people gave me when we lit up a joint.
ya man... and then they stand there giving you cancer from a cigarette. and hop in the car and drive home drunk off their ass. but ive heard people make those complaints at roo too. somepeople are just that way. i feel for em. life must be miserable. oh well atleast the cigs will make it a shorter misery for them.
i had a similar experience at lynrd skynrd.( i know i should known better) some dude puked all over the seats next to us and everyone ws hi fivin him. we lit a joint and they all got uptight. gimme a break. we left. it was a shitty concert and the were so quiet. youd think theyd be able to afford a loud setup

Not really a Dave fan but I've been to a couple shows and it wasn't that bad. The only thing I didn't like was the dirty looks many people gave me when we lit up a joint. I mean I understand the whole "it's illegal" thing but it was outside and we weren't blowing it in people's faces. I mean if you don't like then just look away for the few moments people are smoking. Nothing happened but it was a little uncomfortable. It's just something you have to accept at a show like that.
OK, that is a really weird story.. I have been to 25 DMB shows and never heard or seen anything like that. THat was a rare occurence.

I've been to a few and i usually see that, maybe it just depends on where you see them. From my experience they usually dont bring out the most savory crowd though.
but i t ink the imprtant point to make is that that element isnt going to come to roo to see dave. hes always on tour. and theyd probably be pissed if they came to see dave and some dudes named trey, robert, and warren stole the show.

Hold on now. The DMB fansbase has great respect for Robert, Warren, Trey and anyone else who guests with the band. I know I can't speak for teh entire fan base and admittedly I haven't been much of a fan for a few years now, but I still frequent DMB message boards and I know the respect that they hold for guys like, Trey, Warren, Robert, Santana, Krasno and just about anyone else who has ever guested with the band. I think you are refering to the part of the fanbase that isn't hardcore and only goes to DMB shows for crash, anything of Everyday and Stand up, and Where Are You GOing.

dave and friends would be awesome and fit perfectly into 'roo...but i also think i would be happy if the whole band showed up too.
The problem is, if its dave and friends, sure he'll play so dmb stuff..but he'll probably play a whole lot more non-dmb songs considering the friends part..plus there will be the element of surprise.
If its just dmb..everyone pretty much knows what we're getting ..for good or bad... I would like it..but it would probably ruffle some feathers.
I definitely see dave playing in one form or another this year
anyone have the setlist from the lat time it was dave and friends at 'roo?

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE is allegedly reuniting for coachella
i think that nuts would be sick honestly, honkey donkey rage one night at bonnaroo
think about the people that would come to see rage
I saw rage at woodstock ..and i wouldn't exactly call it a bonnaroo atmosphere during the set....i saw two people all busted up dragged out from the front of the stage...
it was a good show..one fo the best for the weekend...just didn't make you feel warm and fuzzy inside (see looting and rioting)

why can't people just accept the fact that smoking pot is safer than drinking alcohol?
What I don't get is why cigarette companies don't start trying to lobby for legalization?
Their US market is crumbling beneath them. They have strong ties in Washington still to push for this. They have all the cigarette manufacturing technology. And marijuana is one of the top grossing products in the nation, despite our laws. They'd make bank in no time!
you can grow great weed in your closet or your back yard. thats why. turning tobacco into ciggarettes is a much more complicated prcess then pick it and dry it. thats why they are able to do it with tobacco. but weed wouldnt work. its just too easy for the do it yourselfer

yeah, the cigarette companies would just put nicotine, and other garbage in it, so people wouldn't grow their own, because they wouldn't get the nicotine. legalization seems like a bad idea, giving cigarette companies (read "the shadiest corporations on the planet") more money, no thanks.

The tobacco lobby, much like the pharmaceutical industry, is among the main reasons why it isnt legal.
Tobacco would lose money as people would turn to a healthier proudct to 'calm their nerves' etc.
The pharmacies would be hurt as doctors would be more willing to prescribe a safer, non-addictive product rather than the current choices of legal heroin.

i think the pearl jam rumor was a cover up to tool, i could see them on the which stage on sat night from 12-3am like trey did in 2005, trey said it, i'm sure he knew something, also, i could see all the phish members there, but unfortunately not playing as phish, and i do think phish at bonnaroo one day would be a good thing, it would get bonnaroo back to its roots, even though phish never played roo, they obviously were a perfect fit for the whole scene, why did phish never play bonnaroo?
Phish never played Roo because they can put on their own fest. They don't need someone else to do it for them. I think last year's late-night GRAB is probably the closest Bonnaroo will ever get to Phish.
On another note. No one has mentioned Nine Inch Nails as a possible headliner. They supposedly are gonna tour again this summer, and are working on a new album. They are really frickin great live, and I think they could fit into Radiohead's slot on Saturday night. I know alot of people will look down on them as too dark, maybe too hard. But I think they would fit. I highly doubt that it would happen though.
The only band I've seen that has been able to play three and a half hour was Pearl Jam who played a 3 hour and 15 minute set at Boston this year. I haven't seen a ton of bands though. I know that Tool usually plays a 2 hour set, but maybe they could pull it off.

I think it's reasonable to assume that bands like Tool would be able to whip up a 2 1/2 or even 3 hour show for a Bonnaroo headlining gig. That's exactly what Radiohead did, after all. Not that just because RH did it we should expect the same from other bands, just that they proved that some bands are willing and able to stretch themselves for a very special circumstance.
The more I think about it, the more I am positive Widespread Panic will headline at least one night. With Jimmy Herring in the band, and them having taken a year off, conditions are right. I don't necessarily want them to headline, I actually would prefer them to get a late night slot Which Stage like primus04/trey05. But at this point in time, I think they still need a Dave/Trey/Panic/Dead type band to close the festival, or at least headline one of the nights. We'll see. I hate that we have to wait so long. I'll be there regardless, but I'd like to know right now!!

I would not mind this, really. I'm by no means a fan of WSP, but their shows in '05, esp. Sunday's, were thoroughly enjoyable (as was the drunken middle-aged man near us that was having the TIME OF HIS LIFE). In fact the thought of the variety invovled makes me giddy. To me, this looks pretty kickass:
Friday: Tool Saturday: The Police Sunday: Widespread Panic

I'll take it, but could you imagine:
Friday: TOOL Sturday: Police Sunday: CSN&Y
Now that would be close to heaven, and that is a hell of alot of variety.
That all being said, I think alot of people are forgetting Clapton. The Police are tied to Bonnaroo most likely because of Stewart Copeland being part of Oysterhead, and enjoying himself last year. So even though they are a huge addition for Bonnaroo, you can kinda trace where they crossed paths.
Well, if I am right about this, the same could be said for Mr. Clapton. He is on a two year tour (at least that is what an article said last year), and he has directly been involved with two Bonnaroo mainstays. He had Robert Randolph open his shows a few years back, and Randolph joined Clapton for his set every night on a few songs. And now Clapton last year, and this is touring with Derek Trucks in his band. So, he like the Police has a tie to Bonnaroo, kinda.
