Keller is gonna play with the band again? I kinda liked his one man show schtick but I have never seen the band live so if thats goin down, cool but as long as K-Dub himself is playing Im happy. If this whole list is true then this will be a roo to remember
Keller's Band is actually going to be comprised of a "Super Group" of sorts. He is going to playing with a bunch of musicians that he teamed up with on his new album "Dream". The Band could consist of anyone from Bob Weir, String Cheese Incident, Bela Fleck, Victor Wooten, Michael Franti, Steve Kimock, John Scofield, Bobby Read, Charlie Hunter, Derrek Phillips, Fareed Haque, Fleming McWilliams, Jeff Sipe, John Molo, Martin Sexton, Modereko, Jeff Covert, Samir Chatterjee, Sanjay Mishra, his daughter Ella or even Bob Weir's dog...

this list looks pretty amazing. i'd love to see the police but if they did play there, people from all over the globe would go to roo just to see them, and it would screw all of us over who love going to the festival itself, not just for one band, ya know? but if this is true, im gonna buy my ticket the second it goes on sale. either way to me roo is roo. i look forward to it each year and im sure no matter who goes there, it wont affect m experience... i hope

It sounds like there will be a tour of some sort, so hopefully this shouldn't be too much of a problem.
This blog picked up on the source close to the Manchester Times. A comment on this site says that Tom Waits' manager has said that he will not be at Roo. I'd say this guy's blog comment is about as credible as the Manchester Times source, so take it all with a grain of salt.

Wow, that knocked the wind out of me. I'm gonna go ahead an assume Waits won't be there, so save myself the major disappointment if that turns out to be the case. For a while now I've been thinking about how logical and appropriate it would be for him to be there, but no one really knows. Hmmm... depressing.

Yeah, this was a rumor that seemed a bit fishy. I'm sure their idea was to plug him into that Dr. John late night slot from last year. I have to wonder how the rumor started. Maybe Superfly approached him about it on his short tour of Tennessee and Kentucky last year...

Well I wouldn't be so hasty to disregard it. The major con is how rarely he performs live, but I have no doubts that Superfly see him as a great fit for our fest and that they have at least looked info whether it was worthwhile to make an offer. My only hope would be that he would have enough respect for what we're about that he would want to be involved. Not only that, but I keep going back to that one line in that article, "... some surprises that no one else has." Aside from The Police, I can't really think of anyone that would fit that description better than Mr. Waits.
I think what should've tipped off that it's not real is the near total lack of hip hop/rap. Last year's announcement had three or four rap names that I recognized right away, and this one only has one, the Roots, which isn't typical rap anyways. I know it wouldn't be the full lineup, but you would think out of so many big names on that "confirmation" one or two bigger names in hip hop would've appeared.

Typical rap doesnt really play bonnaroo, hip hop does, and in that line up theres a few hip hop names. The root, ozomatli, and girl talk are all pretty hip hopy, and thats not even a full initial lineup. So i wouldnt really use that as a reason to write it off.

Well they havnt toured in pretty much forever, and they're a hugely popular, and sweet band. Imagine if the rolling stones took 20 some years off and came back.

Yeah, but all the hip/hop acts last year came in later announcements.
i don't understand why the police are considered so huge that people will travel around the world to see them
I'm not the biggest Police fan either. That said, I'd love to see them live. No other group blended reggae, punk and new wave more perfectly for the mainstream than The Police. If Sting weren't such a raging asshole, I'd probably like them more.

Damn, that sounds great. Thats a possiblility three of my idols on stage at once. Scofield, Keller (as a guitar player mostly) and Vic Wooten. BUt mainly I need to pick up the new album. With all those artists, where coudl you go wrong?

That keller band looks sweet, id love to see that. I just saw david bowie on extras, and i think he's due for a roo apperance. It'd be sweet, when they said the thing about having people no one expected it ended up being bowie. The police reunion would be perfect for covering it too. I'm dreaming, but that'd be the best suprise ever, i personally rather see bowie then the police, both are awesome though.
I'd rather see Bowie than just about anyone. When I lived in Austin, TX he played there and I REALLY wanted tickets but they sold out in less than 20 minutes and I didn't get one...They showed up on ebay for about $200-$300 but I couldn't bring myself to pay that so he remains one of the very few I've never seen that I feel I have to see one day.
Another interesting development concerning Pearl Jam playing Roo this year. On the band's official message board, the head administrator posted this:
"That busy little birdy told us now would be a good time to make sure your Ten Club membership is current and active because there's some stuff coming up and you don't want to be singing the blues if you miss out. "
Now, the stuff about memberships has nothing to do with Bonnaroo, but the blues reference is interesting. Could it possibly be referring to Tennessee, considered by many to be the birthplace of the blues? This admin likes to drop hints like these whenever an announcement is coming up.
For example, before their self-titled album came out last year, he said something about making guacamole or something like that. It turned out to be a reference to the album's cover, which was a picture of an avocado.
Take that for what you will.

I hate to say it but Chicago is probably one of the biggest name-associations with the blues and there's a certain Chicago festival coming up a little after Bonnaroo...
While it could be referring to a show in Chicago, I doubt they'd announce a Lollapalooza appearance this far in advance.

My guess is that has more to do with other gigs they might set up than Bonnaroo. I seriously doubt Ten Club would give you an inside track to getting festival tickets at either venue.
I was thinking more along the lines of a tour announcement along with a Bonnaroo confirmation. Should've been clearer about that, but I hope that's what it's referring to.

id be really suprised if sci didnt show for the festival. they were of the first to be there at the first gathering in 2002 (right?). but neway im sure they'll be an artist addition. i could see them closing the fest....but either way, as i said before the "lineup" is nice lookin...i hope superfly backs it up
