Here's a fun question I asked my friends on the car ride back:
If you could be in charge of who comes and plays, who would you add?
There was a lot I liked about this year, there was very little jam band stuff which I really preferred. But I would love to have added acts like System of a Down, Mars Volta, Bob Dylan, and Yes.
haha that's funny, because when Petty mentioned the Traveling Wilburys and said he hoped they were well in their own travels, I thought for sure Dylan was coming out. He would've completed it for me.

Yeah, this is kinda lame, since we were having such an amazing time anyway but me and my friends had this conversation as well. We came up with Sufjan Stevens, Stars, Islands, Rilo Kiley (and therefore and Jenny Lewis, Ben Gibbard, and Jimmy Tambarello appearance as the Postal Service). There were a bunch of others too but really the mix of the music was so good and there was so much to see already that we have no complaints.
I think bands like "system of a down," "tool," and "NIN" would have made the vibe and the shadyness alot worse.
I think Tool could be appropriate for Roo. With the exception of the obvious bands (Phish, Dead, etc.) I saw more people with Tool shirts than any other band.
Friday - Tool, Saturday - Pearl Jam, Sunday - Pearl Jam with Neil Young
Additional artists:
Beastie Boys Foo Fighters Ben Harper Jack Johnson Les Claypool's Frog Brigade Jack Irons Modest Mouse The White Stripes Death Cab for Cutie (at a time that doesn't conflict with another band I want to see) Ween Garbage Kraftwerk Wolfmother
Ben Harper Jack Johnson Keller Williams RRFB Allman Brothers GRAB w/ Trey Ryan Adams (How has he NOT been there at least once?) Yonder Mountain Umphrey's North Mississippi All-Stars Warren Bela moe The Notwist Dumpstaphunk Hank III Kings of Leon Nickel Creek Royksopp Travis

I know a lot of cool people that are into tool. I'm not a fan because I think there is just as complicated/intricate/well written music that doesn't have a dark/angry vibe to it. anyways...i'm trying to say that alot of fans at tool concerts or NIN concerts are not fun to be around. they're rude, drunk, angry, and will make fun of you if you where a poncho. not the vibe that I'm looking for when I go to bonnaroo.
Estradasphere* Les Claypool* They Might Be Giants* MF Doom* Devendra Banhart* Jaga Jazzist* Umphrey's* Opeth Sleepytime Gorilla Museum Cheer-Accident Sqaurepusher Jim's Big Ego* Medeski Mart*in and Wood (because I didn't get to see them this year)* Buckethead* Machine and the Synergetic Nuts* Dub Trio* Ruins Tool* The Mountain Goats* Volcano the Bear Corn Mo* Tuxedomoon Cake* Kaada
*indicates I think it would go well with the Bonnaroo crowd, the rest is just for my own listening pleasure
I like that Bonnaroo isn't just jam bands and such, it's getting more and more diverse. I still think it needs more obscure (not unknown) bands and more experimental acts. I think Estradasphere would be great there. If you haven't heard of them, they're this amazing group that plays all kinds of stuff. Anyone I know who likes jam bands, rock, virtuoso-type or jazz instantly loves the group. A lot of it is like jamming, but it has actual composition and concepts and is varied, unlike most jam bands. If you listen to the 20 minute song "Hunger Strike", you'll be exhausted by how amazing it is and how it never lets up, and you'll realize they'd be perfect in Bonnaroo. Screw superjam, radiohead, phil lesh, tom petty, etc... I want Estradasphere!

New too Roo artists I would like to see there next year are: Sting as a Friday night headliner. Bjork as a late night. Barenaked Ladies as an afternoon show. Aphex Twin / Boards of Canada / Squarepusher / The Books combined late night experimental tent.
All I can say is that my life is pretty plain I like watchin' the puddles gather rain And all I can do is just pour some tea for two And speak my point of view But it's not sane, It's not sane
I just want some one to say to me I'll always be there when you wake
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
Neil Young (Crazy Horse, CSNY, etc.) The Shins Wilco Trey Lesh The Motet (they were awesome this year) Ween String Cheese Incident Pixies Herbie Hancock Brad Metheldau (does amazing Radiohead covers in a jazz format for all you RH fans out there)
Although Tool is amazing, im not sure of the kind of people they would bring (although I have heard good things about coachella this year). Pearl Jam however, I believe, would bring a great crowd and would be a little more appropriate to the scene because their sets are real long.
BTW you probably saw me wearing a Tool shirt, I was sporting one on Saturday, like ten people commented about it.
"Man and his deed are two distinct things...a good deed should call forth approbation a a wicked deed disapprobation, the doer of the deed, whether good or wicked, always deserves respect or pity as the case may be. 'Hate the sin and not the sinner' is a precept which, though easy enough to understand, is rarely practicsed (sic), and that is why the poison of hatred spreads in the world." -Ghandi

WHOAAAA thats weird paranoidbot...i didn't even read your post and i mentioned sting and bjork in mine...are you my long lost sibling?
I got a ton of comments when I wore my Residents shirt on saturday (I would have gotten a comment from Les if he saw me). The Residents would be cool to add if they happen to have a show next year. They do have a new project that's going on right now... but it's not a very bonnaroo crowd friendly

to go with the flow of bad artists that should never be at bonnaroo, i'll add some more: Yanni Fallout Boy River Dance Black Eyed Peas Milli Vanilli/Vanilla Ice late night comeback set Ashlee Simpson

Fri: Pearl Jam Sat: Neil Young (w/ Crazy Horse or CSN) Sun: The Dead
Wilco Willie Nelson Los Lobos Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds Grace Potter & the Nocturnals Keller Williams String Cheese Incident The Word Allman Brothers Band Trey Anastasio (or other ex-Phish side project) Ryan Adams Yonder Mountain String Band Umphrey's McGee Rusted Root Gov't Mule Bela Fleck & the Flecktones moe Zappa Plays Zappa Galactic Drive By Truckers Jolie Holland Alison Krauss & Union Station Stir Fried David Byrne Codetalkers Particle Gomez David Bromberg Primus Cyro Baptista & Beat the Donkey Agents of Good Roots Railroad Earth Big Head Todd & the Monsters Lucinda Williams
And in my ideal world, not one of these shows would be a conflict. I know that there's a lot of jam bands, well duh... I knows what's I likes.

I have a feeling I'm gonna get tackled for saying this, but, here goes: A Perfect Circle There. I said it. I think APC would bring a better vibe than Tool. I'm definitely a bigger fan of Tool than APC, I just see Maynard's "other band" working better. Other than that, I would love to see this kinda thing:
Fri night: Outkast, CSNY, Particle/Sonic Youth/Galactic late set Sat night: APC, Bjork, The Roots/DJ Spooky/Flaming Lips Sun night: YMSB, Radiohead to close it down (with special Icelandic babe guest singer, of course)

i know radiohead played an amazing set this year, the crowd loved it, and you could tell the band loved it, but i don't see Radiohead playing @ roo again

Yeah, APC may be better received at Bonnaroo, but Maynard has said that APC has run it's course. eMOTIVe was done to fulfill their recording contract and was basically Maynard.
