I should say this sucks to have happen and the tons of people that are holding a hotel room 45 minutes from the city with no way to refund it. Hopefully they’ll keep the shuttles and just go reverse.
I had this happen at ATP one year where they switched from Asbury Park, NJ to NYC with a few weeks till the festival. It sucks and I hate for anyone that has to deal with it.
It was tolerable when he was a crude and irreverent punk promoter who at least did right by taking care of paying customers. Being a child who's unable to come to agreements with park districts and then jerking people around until you get your way isn't punk - it's just obnoxious and gutless. Finding it tough to root for Riot Fest here, but hope everyone who's going has a good time.

There's a decent chance I go on Saturday now that it's back in the city, but yes this festival is being run by a man child and this could be the last Riot Fest even with the move back to the city.

Thats why you dont trust events with Frank Ocean in them. Rip ATP
So, what did it cost to move from Seat Geek to Douglass? Cause I doubt they didnt have a contract signed and theres gotta be some clause that they owe em some bucks.
So the park district is getting 10% of their revenue and that will be used for park improvements. And theyre trying to ink a long term deal. Coming to the tune of 700k
The added detail in the news articles is puzzling. The DNC is starting in Chicago in a few days and Brandon Johnson is taking time to get personally involved in 1x1 negotiations with RIOT MIKE?

My guess is they must have had an out with the double booked soccer game where the stadium was facing more blowback/legal action from that than they had expected and just let Riot Fest out of their contract

I smell kompramat. Also, I think BJ confused Riot Fest with the actual riots that are gonna go down at UC for the next week.

Total speculation of course
There had to be some sweetener in there. Been plenty of it going around it seems.
Same. At first, I assumed that it had to be a typo and that they were returning in 2025. Guess not.
Then this festival must have been REALLY selling badly if they forced it this year. They could have punted this year and came back strong next year back in Chicago.
Nothing has ever drawn well in Bridgeview, and Riot Fest wasn't going to be any exception. What a shit show.

lyrical lemonade is the only exception but now that Keef played and Carti has headlined x3 in a row I think it's gonna slow down sales wise.
On the other hand Eminem has done 3 vids now with Cole Bennett and seen to have a good relationship so if he books him I'd bet on one more sell out

North Coast does well enough to keep going there. And ARC is the same weekend despite drawing a diff audience. If the train simply went there Im sure there wouldnt be as much complaining, just a long train ride and nothing more.

I'm guessing the costs of operation are a fraction of other festivals, especially since they pivoted to 100% EDM lineups. Even still, I see tons of giveaways every year. Admittedly, NCMF is not my scene so I can't speak to how many people are actually showing up since they moved to Bridgeview.
Not going, but Sunday actually does kind of look like a banger of a day with how that's scheduled. Even if I've seen all of those bands multiple times.
FWIW - I actually feel like of the 7 bands closing stages over the weekend, Fall Out Boy actually had the 2nd heaviest show.
Indie Saturday still works best for me, some combo of Pixel Grip/Bzuzcocks/Michael C. Hall/the Armed/Health/Sincere Engineer/Spoon/Annie/Stephen/Beck. though Sunday would be fun too. Friday not so much.
Clearly shows getting longer hours in bridgeview would help the end of the night stuff. Having 3 closers is gonna make the end of the night a total shit show. No crow control with making one of those closers end earlier and such. Yeah, markets def gonna tank on this
