I wonder if No Doubt had a agreement with Coachella about being a fest exclusive. I wonder if Gwen doing solo shows as herself with No Doubt as a surpise guest would be loophole. Would be kinda cool if she did it lol

Gwen's solo sets are very No Doubt heavy anyway
I saw her at the Houston Rodeo two years ago and it was a blast

What will be hilarious is if they book Gwen solo, as well as Dreamcar (who played ACL 2017) Good way to get around the 'No Doubt' exclusive label

Calling my shot Billy Strings is gonna be top-6 at this thing
I could see this. Only thing is he's been boycotting most Livenation owned venues and fest. Pretty sure Fairwell Festival is the first Livenation involved show he's done in over a year.
We're now 4-5 weeks away max from the lineup drop, and still feels like there is more unknown at this point than ever. Here's my read on headliners...
- #1 billing is probably between Metallica or PJ, tho I still feel like both are less likely than not. Maybe we're in for a true surprise? Then again, that wouldn't be very LN nowadays. - Definitely at least one of Blink/Killers. My money is on Killers in a #3/4 spot and F1 nabs Blink. - For EDM, looking like Skrillex. I thought Justice was a lock but given no Lolla and confirmed out for III Points, me thinks Sonny is a lay-up here given process of elimination. - Re: Country HLer, still think they go with someone who has more of a mainstream appeal a la George/Kacey/Shania and NOT someone like Combs or Bryan. I think they use the #6 spot to promote-up a fringe HLer to like with Kacey in '22. My gut says Billy Strings W1/Tyler Childers W2 exclusives, something like that. (disclaimer: I know nothing of country music so if I sound dumb here, thats way) - I'm getting more confident Post will be the "rapper." Future x Metro could also work but for now they're looking like a Lolla exclusive. No other HL-worthy names floating around besides Tyler, which I doubt given he's still performing his set from '21. While three years to return is definitely not impossible for ACL, Tyler feels like he has one too many variables working against him. - Female and/or pop acts are the most confounding slot of the bunch...I bet money on one of Lana/Dua/Gwen/Doja but literally no clue which one.
So, my best guess is currently: Metallica/PJ/??? Post Malone Lana Del Ray The Killers Skrillex Strings W1/Childers W2 + MMJ, Khruangbin, renee rapp, gary clark jr among the high-end subs
So with Justice playing II points does that make them more likely now?
I have long spied on this thread, but figured its finally time to join.
Your predictions don't seem too far off Gerk but I do laugh seeing you continuously put Billy Strings into the Mix. Usually the only way artist usually play ACL again after 2 years is if they are being upgraded to headliner level. Has Billy Strings popularity heightened since 2022?
Welcome to the dark side Inforoo, Drew.
Re: Billy Strings...just look at his tour, he's selling pretty damn well 2x arena shows in markets like Nashville/Chicago/Tampa (granted, none of those shows are fully sold-out and some other stops aren't selling as well, but still). Do I personally think that he's top-6 status? No, not really, but if you look at the patterns of how ACL books and they kind of acts they "promote" to headliner, it wouldn't surprise me at all.
If there is anything I've accepted about ACL post-COVID is to expect the uninspired/underwhelming headliners. I genuinely believe Billy Strings closing a stage is more likely than some of the names you suggested like Bruce or Katy (but hey I sure hope I'm wrong).
They'll sell out though people are on tour with him now. They gotta get through spring tour first. I just did Tampa > Savannah and he's officially made it. New light rig is insane. Those people are outside selling those fake tide dyed (insert festival here shirts) for $10. Shakedowns have been absurd. Phish size but without all the nitrous until after the show lol. The playing has been insane. The band is on another level and every time I think they've peaked, I get sucked back in. At 27 shows now and excited to finish out with Minneapolis > Chicago to hit 30.

Ha, yeah was at the second Tamps show which was really quite something. Basically a full setlist of songs about trains haha. I agree with your assessment that he definitely has the bones to deliver a killer HLing set, but idk if LN feels the same.

Hmmm I really don't know now. Re: III Points, the promoters said Justice was 100% out but they were able to pull-off a late addition literally just yesterday. Does that mean they'll be stateside in October and were just now convinced to swing down to Miami? Or did III Points have to throw a big enough bag at them to make a new trip all together? I still think they're out and ACL will trot out Skrillex but I do like Justice's odds a lot more now than Monday.

Pearl Jam * Post Malone * Gwen Stefani Lana del Rey * Sturgill Simpson * Willie Nelson Porter Robinson (W1) * Justice (W2) My Morning Jacket (W1) * The National (W2)
I'm just throwing a guess that Blink is gonna be an F-1 headliner

Swap out Lana for The Killers and shift Gwen down to #4 and you may be cooking there.
Agree on Blink going to F1. The past two years we've seen late-90s/early-00s rock bands that look very in-play for ACL be cucked by COTA (Green Day, The Killers) and Blink would also fit that trend perfectly. Either way we'll find out tomorrow.

I thought about that re: Killers for Lana but the fest has seemed to make a point to book a couple female headliners every year and that lineup felt weak on it
Stevie Nicks return could be in play there too though she doesn't have any dates past July
