Willie has 2 New Braunfels dates in mid May so I have him as out rn, could see an exception being made for him tho.
Really want St. Vincent, but would seem she plays here every album cycle at that point, always with an aftershow too. Past few times she has played she’s had dates immediately surrounding it so odds don’t look super solid all things considered.
We're now 4-5 weeks away max from the lineup drop, and still feels like there is more unknown at this point than ever. Here's my read on headliners...
- #1 billing is probably between Metallica or PJ, tho I still feel like both are less likely than not. Maybe we're in for a true surprise? Then again, that wouldn't be very LN nowadays. - Definitely at least one of Blink/Killers. My money is on Killers in a #3/4 spot and F1 nabs Blink. - For EDM, looking like Skrillex. I thought Justice was a lock but given no Lolla and confirmed out for III Points, me thinks Sonny is a lay-up here given process of elimination. - Re: Country HLer, still think they go with someone who has more of a mainstream appeal a la George/Kacey/Shania and NOT someone like Combs or Bryan. I think they use the #6 spot to promote-up a fringe HLer to like with Kacey in '22. My gut says Billy Strings W1/Tyler Childers W2 exclusives, something like that. (disclaimer: I know nothing of country music so if I sound dumb here, thats way) - I'm getting more confident Post will be the "rapper." Future x Metro could also work but for now they're looking like a Lolla exclusive. No other HL-worthy names floating around besides Tyler, which I doubt given he's still performing his set from '21. While three years to return is definitely not impossible for ACL, Tyler feels like he has one too many variables working against him. - Female and/or pop acts are the most confounding slot of the bunch...I bet money on one of Lana/Dua/Gwen/Doja but literally no clue which one.
So, my best guess is currently: Metallica/PJ/??? Post Malone Lana Del Ray The Killers Skrillex Strings W1/Childers W2 + MMJ, Khruangbin, renee rapp, gary clark jr among the high-end subs

I have long spied on this thread, but figured its finally time to join.
Your predictions don't seem too far off Gerk but I do laugh seeing you continuously put Billy Strings into the Mix. Usually the only way artist usually play ACL again after 2 years is if they are being upgraded to headliner level. Has Billy Strings popularity heightened since 2022?
I think we are looking at:
Pearl Jam or Bruce - Lana Del Rey or Katy Perry - Post Malone, Tyler the Creator - or gasp, Future X Metro Boomin as our top 3, although idk if Future is worthy of top 3 or would be there.
Tyler play Lolla 2021 and is playing again this year, I would love to join the "it's too soon" idea but seems its not.
Bruce fits the out of nowhere legacy like Guns N Roses, George Strait and Paul McCartney. It's wishful thinking. I bet they do PJ though because its been 2014 since they last played and C3 has to be shaking with withdrawals.
Katy Perry may seem random but she is playing Rock in Rio with Ed Sheeran & Imagine Dragons and I feel she could just hop on over to us. Probably wont happen. Ed Sheeran could fit that Post Malone spot to. ACL has always been lacking in the rap arena.
For the 4 to 6 I see The Killers as our other rock band. ACL loves to recycle. I don't forsee Blink because of SA and think Shania Twain was a one-off. If Blink does play I will never again include SA as being in the "Radius". Imagine Dragons could come over from Rock in Rio, who knows.
Gwen Stefani makes sense, as No Doubt is Coachella exclusive. Would be awesome to also get Sublime and have Gwen guest do "Saw Red" with them.
Country headliner: I'm not good at predicting country. Chris Stapleton has perfectly lined up dates for ACL but I'm told he always does.
I think our top EDM will be 7 or 8, not top 6 this year. ODESZA kind of blew it out of the park so what edm act can match up to that. Save the push play edm DJs for nightclubs and raves. All of my EDM options i don't even know if they would be top 8 anymore: Skrillex, Justice, Pretty Lights, Chainsmokers even LCD Soundsystem.
I'm going throw The National, Norah Jones and Avril Lavigne in as possible sub headliners.

Welcome to the dark side Inforoo, Drew.
Re: Billy Strings...just look at his tour, he's selling pretty damn well 2x arena shows in markets like Nashville/Chicago/Tampa (granted, none of those shows are fully sold-out and some other stops aren't selling as well, but still). Do I personally think that he's top-6 status? No, not really, but if you look at the patterns of how ACL books and they kind of acts they "promote" to headliner, it wouldn't surprise me at all.
If there is anything I've accepted about ACL post-COVID is to expect the uninspired/underwhelming headliners. I genuinely believe Billy Strings closing a stage is more likely than some of the names you suggested like Bruce or Katy (but hey I sure hope I'm wrong).

Well, you could be right. Kacey went from playing 2019 to headlining 2022, so if Billy Strings is selling like hotcakes sure he could headline. But he is a hard sell as a headliner IMO. Different set list every night, does his own thing. I feel artists like "Combs or Bryan" have much more mainstream appeal then him. But hey it could happen.
You are correct about being underwhelmed Post-COVID. I miss the days before COVID when my jaw would drop off my face on lineup day in amazement.
Also, not sure how I missed this but the reddit boys are saying they have scoopz that Pretty Lights will be here. Makes sense and a clear HL in the EDM space.
As for the PL rumor that’s cool and all but personally I see him more as a stage closer or main stage sub based on recent billing. Having to coheadline Roo’s Thursday with Fisher tells me that he’s not gonna be billed as high here (even though they’re technically making Thursday a “full day” it’s still a markably smaller day so having to coheadline on the smallest day, especially given his history with Roo, says to me he wouldn’t headline here). I could be misreading that but that’s just how I see it.
and ACL aint sayin nothin until after Coachella is well over. 2-3 more weeks
If we get acts that don't have texas dates yet like My Morning Jacket, St.Vincent, Orville Peck, Santigold, The Hives - I will be there. I am accepting to this feeling that the headliners these days are not very exciting anymore, so it's all about a powerful undercard.

This Charli XCX/Troye Sivan tour is mostly in the south and suspiciously has the Saturday of each ACL weekend open, although the tour routing wasn't really set up to be super convenient for ACL. But could see one or both of them here
With Blink headlining that new C3 produced Alabama fest in September 28-29, I really think they're practically a lock at this point personally.
As for Charli/Troye they're practically out for W1 unless they wanna play 5 shows in a row with flights in the middle on that Friday, and for W2 would be playing 3 shows in a row with ACL Saturday with flights in between, which isn't the craziest thing but they only seem to have 2 shows in a row at any one point on the current routing and would just be rather inconvenient and not worth the trouble I think overall.
