I had no interest in them but there was nothing about the booking that was amiss.
I think the majority of regular attendees were either on board or indifferent. I don't think an having an act like Mumford instead would have made that much more of a difference. Pearl Jam and The Dead are fine headliners imo.
Yeah, I wasn't aware of anybody blaming LCD for this mess. If anything you'd go back to Deadmau5, no?
The consensus seems to be that they now rely too heavily on generic-or-worse EDM acts to fill out the bill if we're blaming programming and that seems like it started snowballing after that headlining slot.
Personally, I blame their scheduling just as much. They offer do much less "programming" than even two years ago, let alone five. Less venues, later starts, shorter sets. Less to chose from means that they think outside of the box less, leading to a more generic festival.

Gonna get wild with it a little here but I actually support the later start times. It's just too fucking hot during the day, and having at least the What and the Which start a little later makes good sense to me.
Now, do I think they should be ending earlier in addition to starting later? Absolutely not. But on that one thing I think there's a good argument to do it.

Once again, I'm sorry Launchpad. Just because you publicly made a big fucking deal about your plans to attend Bonnaroo doesn't mean I had any right to ask you about your plans to attend Bonnaroo.

LCD had no bearing on me going. Very few people I know had heard of them before. They were great and one of the best headlining performances I've seen at Bonnaroo. That being sad, I was basically so tired I was hallucinating.
My reason for not going this year - Shorter sets by bands I don't care enough about to drive 12 hours to the middle of nowhere to see

When people on inforoo (who are supposed to be the die hards) are saying they didn't know them too well, or had no interest prior. That should kind of tell you all you need to know.
For the record, LCD are amazing and one of my all time favorite bands. But they are just not really a huge draw or well known.
I have college friends who don't know the majority of shit on the 2017 lineup. Is that the problem then? Did Bonnaroo lose sight of its college base? Is that why those who attended regularly even years after college stopped going?

They are well known enough to headline other festivals but thank you again for your fine contributions. We all agree LCD isn't the most star studded headliner which is why a better undercard might have helped.
The majority here are still saying LCD was not the reason they missed btw.

You sound like such a total jackass, you know that right?

I guess my thing is that they have a captive audience and they don't really offer anything else to do in the morning/early afternoon. And they continue to charge more for less.
It's 900 degrees. It's not like you can really sleep in and recharge. You can't go anywhere. So you're basically left sitting in your tent village trying to stay cool and wait for the day to begin.
I know some of you are actual three dimensional friends so you probably enjoy each others' company and all that. As awesome as some of y'all surely are, I'd rather see three or four more bands.
