Yeah, if I was going to change anything about the current tour, I'd probably switch out Hooker. Also, I'm totally good on Sober. Its still good, but I've heard it too much.
The new songs are great and the more I hear them, Pneuma, Invincible and Descending in particular stand up to any of Tool's past compositions. It seems to have given them a new lease on life and they seem like they're enjoying playing...maybe more than they have in a while?
Basically, they'll still fantastic and anyone at their Bonnaroo show is in for a treat.
Yeah, when I saw them in NJ, Maynard was weirdly…positive? The war in Ukraine has just started, and I expected him to say some edgy shit like he said at GovBall in 2017 (“It’s all going to work out. Or not. Good luck.”), but instead he was all, “Shit’s dark out there, let’s all give ourselves permission to have a good time in here tonight.” Shocking.
And agreed on the FI stuff. “Descending,” in particular, knocked my socks on my ass.

Yeah, he seemed upbeat on Sunday as well. Let the audience take out their phones for Invincible at the end too.
I hope they can someday work in 7empest into their live performances. I remember maybe Maynard or Adam saying they may never play it live because it’s so complex and difficult.

Dale's dream TOOL Set list
1. Vicarious 2. Pneuma 3. Undertow representation - Prison Sex/Swamp Song/Undertow 4. Parabol/Parabola 5. 46&2 6. Wings for Marie/10,000 Days (Disposition/Reflection would be great as a sub) 7. Descending 8. Eulogy 9. Lateralus
Encore
10. Jambi 11. Invincible 12. Aenima
I guess you could throw Tempest in there over one of the other FI tracks but I was trying to stick to songs that have actually been played live
