is to headline to play a headlining set or is it to be billed as a headliner? I’ve always thought of it as the latter. The event sold tickets with Tool as a top listed act. They “headlined”.
I'd be pissed to get none of *deep breath* Aenima, Schism, Jambi, 46/2, Vicarious, Lateralus, Stinkfist, H, or Rosetta Stoned
I mean, if you haven’t seen them play those songs by now, it’s your fault, not theirs.
dude I've been trying to see them for years and haven't been able to yet. Is it really such a problem that I don't want nothing but deep cuts for my first show, especially at a festival?

I just don’t think it’s something worth complaining about or being pissed off. It’s not like they have been hard to see. They tour all the time. I think this setlist is one of the coolest things they’ve done. The hits are great but no way should anyone be mad at seeing Pushit, Right In Two, The Grudge, you’ll still get Opiate or Sober, The Pot and Hooker.

Ah yes, definitely how normal people describe it. “Remember when Frank Ocean headlined Coachella?” they all say…

I kind of see both sides. The “hits” set list is phenomenal and I can get wanting to see it.
At the same time, the show Tool is doing now will melt your face right off. It’s so good. If you enjoy the band, in the moment, I believe you’ll have a good time.

I get that. It’s just weird to me to only want the hits in about any situation. Like the other songs aren’t great?
You’d be pissed to get new songs and a great song from each album. A couple of those are (I think) the best songs from the album.

welcome to seeing Tool live in general lmao. You’d be lucky to get any of those besides Stinkfist and Ænima which have been played more often on other tours. I kinda hope we get Lateralus just because of it being played on the farm with Tom Morello last time.

Until this tour you could count on Stinkfist, 46&2, Aenema, Schism, Lateralus, Jambi and Vicarious pretty much all the time.

true those were all on the last tour. I went to the tour before that in 16’ and was what I was referring too more I guess at least at a fest the second time. I’ve seen all these songs live so too so I’m with you. But Lateralus is more rare for them to play and good luck seeing H or Rosetta Stoned is what I meant
But also the second time I saw them on the same tour was at Voodoo fest and we didn’t get No Quarter(that they were doing), Schism, or Vicarious. So maybe that’s why I say good luck because it’s a fest.

saw them sunday night. man they're just so fucking incredible. i've seen them whatever 5 times now and they can play whatever they want and just shred it. the visual performance is incredible but it's so impressive the tones they're able to achieve in a venue like a hockey arena. they sound fucking great and they're so damn good. bummed we didn't get right in two cuz they've been playing that.
complaining about not seeing rosetta stoned is a bad take. they haven't played that live more than a few handful of times i think

Didn't they basically close with lateralus for like 10 years? lol
all these songs being aske for have been played hundreds of times at this point
I guess I'll go fuck myself for wanting to hear my favorite Tool songs live 🤷
haha didn't mean that at all my man. their songs are so damn long it's just a limited number of songs they play and they're bound to add/remove and everyone has diff favorite songs. i'd love to see wings for marie and 10k days and rosetta stoned again someday
I mean, if you haven’t seen them play those songs by now, it’s your fault, not theirs.

deep cuts? The tour is literally a Fear Inoculum tour. Typically when a band releases an album for the first time in 13 years, they tend to tour and promote the songs on that album. The only deep cut from they’ve started playing is Undertow, which they hadn’t played in 20 years until last week.

Pushit and Right In Two are considered deep cuts I guess. But who wouldn't be thrilled by seeing those songs? I could have actually done without Hooker, even though I had never seen them play it.

Yeah, if I was going to change anything about the current tour, I'd probably switch out Hooker. Also, I'm totally good on Sober. Its still good, but I've heard it too much.
The new songs are great and the more I hear them, Pneuma, Invincible and Descending in particular stand up to any of Tool's past compositions. It seems to have given them a new lease on life and they seem like they're enjoying playing...maybe more than they have in a while?
Basically, they'll still fantastic and anyone at their Bonnaroo show is in for a treat.
