Just to be safe should we aim to have ONE car at each site for two cars total? We can find a close Stop & Shop or the like for pick up and drop off? Although the website says two cars per site, I received an email this weekend with an option to preregister cars and such. The form says this:
Total Equipment Entered:1 Total Equipment Allowed:3 Limit to 3 of the following: Car, Tent, RV/Motorhome, Pop up, Trailer, Caravan/Camper Van
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

So what time are the tagholders for the sites getting there on Friday? Wanna make sure I don't get there before you guys....do you have a space number yet (sorry if you posted this already and I missed it!)
I'll have my minivan with me, so I'm happy to ferry people back and forth to camp. After I drop off my gear I'll have room for 7.
bonzai, do you have a phone number for the rangers at the site? I bet they could recommend an offsite parking place with minimal towing risk (and clear up that very unclear equipment count!). Maybe they'd even let us park in the day visitor parking. Do we know what the final car count is?
Speaking of gear, my van is sort of perpetually packed for camping all summer, so this is what I'll have...everyone is welcome to use what I've got if you prefer to carpool from points east to cut down on cars...I've comfortably outfit 4 people for a weekend (minus tent) several times this summer so if some peeps just want to show up with a tent they can:
- 10x10 ez up - One man tent - Two camp chairs - Propane two burner stove, griddle, fry pan, saucepan, dish pan, cooking utensils and dishes/cups/silverware for 4 people - Tons o' tarps - A lantern and several flashlights - Bungees, zip ties, citronella, first aid...um...tons of other little supplies! - One extra large 5 day cooler and one smaller drinks cooler - Folding table - My sleep setup is a one man tent, but if there's an issue with too many tents and my van ends up at the campsite, I can also sleep in there too!
Should I do a grocery and/or booze run on the way? Or do we want to make a list and split it up? Let me know how I can help!
That is a great idea about calling for parking suggestion/ clearing up the equipment question!! Bonzai confession: I am actually QUITE terrified of making phone calls... Katy... do you think you can??? (Or anyone who thinks it's a fun job)
No real dietary restrictions here. We should talk a little more about food/booze/ etc so we don't end up with 4 dozen eggs and no cheese or bread, for example.
I put in at work to leave at 3:30 which can put me in Barkhamsted around 4:30 barring traffic. I can potentially leave earlier (or later) if need be. MizV- want to PM me your digits?
MizV- Thanks for offering up your van! That will be a big help!
I also have most my camping stuff in my car all summer- EZ Up, tent, tarps, air mattress... We'll see what the actual restrictions are on tents and such, but my tent is a "6" person tent. I have slept 3 many times with room to spare. Especially if I just use my cot instead of queen air mattress. It's open to whomever needs a spot to sleep, or I can sleep in someone elses. I actually do not have a cooler, but I can see if I can steal one from my parents house if I need one.
Jeff Kay said on FB that he is no longer available to come. ODB- Is your plus one coming?

Woo hoo! Katy, Sat dinner sounds awesome...I volunteer to cook breakfast either or both days too!
For dietary restrictions...I'm allergic to avocado and don't eat wheat/grains (recently found out I'm gluten sensitive...which is the WORST THING EVER)... but I eat everything else... I just skip the bread.
No problem on the van. I also have top rails on the roof, which have previously ended up being great for stringing tarps off of (you can basically make 2 additional EZups by stringing tarps on either side of the van like wings, if that makes sense). I only mention it because we could get a sprinkle on Saturday.
For booze, I'll bring a handle of Tito's vodka and lots of seltzer...I'll probably pick up a case of gluten free beer too. Is there a no glass restriction here? I think booze is cheaper in PA than CT at this point ... so I am happy to be the designated booze-bringer if that's helpful.
For a food list, this is what I usually do (maybe this is a good starting point for discussion? We could split this up or add/subtract stuff?):
Eggs Sausage Bacon Burgers Hot dogs/sausages Chicken, if there's no-beef folks Veggie burgers/sausages, if there's veggie folks Cheese Tomatoes Corn on the cob Some kinda chips (potato works for me!) and salsa Some kinda fruit Buns and bread for the normal folks Mustard, pickles, ketchup, creamer, sugar, butter Smores fixins Paper plates/cups/utensils (I have service for 4 in my kit but we'll need extra)
I'll already have these in my cook kit: Olive oil Paper towels Salt/pepper Hot sauce Griddle scrubber Dish soap & a sponge Instant coffee (I can also bring a French Press and some real coffee)

Oh and bonzai, you are NOT the only one with (what my mom calls) "phone phobia"...I have it too! I swear that email and texting were invented just for me. I'll FB message you and Katy my numbahs since sometimes I have trouble connecting to this board.
I'm shooting to be in Barkhamsted by 5 or so ... so the timing sounds perfecto!

Is it significantly cheaper? Then I'd be down to throw $$ towards booze. (Vodka and seltzer is awesome). Beer and wine is also good If it's only a few cents cheaper, there is no sense in making you lug it all.
FOOD LIST: Eggs Sausage Bacon Burgers Hot dogs/sausages Chicken BONZAI (I'm not "no beef" but I'm not a huge hamburger/hottog girl) Veggie burgers/sausages Chicken Sausages BONZAI Cheese Tomatoes Corn on the cob Some kinda chips (potato works for me!) and salsa Tortilla Chips (ala Sunchips or Doritos) BONZAI Some kinda fruit BONZAI Buns and bread for the normal folks Mustard, pickles, ketchup, creamer, sugar, butter Smores fixins Paper plates/cups/utensils BONZAI MizV:

So it looks like 6-7 peeps is the final count?
Bonzai Katy Mae MizV ODB (+1?) Jack (Saturday) Fawnmart (Saturday) Quacker (Saturday)
So there is 7-8 people total, with three arriving on Saturday. I just texted ODB to see what's up with him.

Crazy intense work week - will try to catch up friday am. Tomorrow have to got to court to support my best gal pal through 'D" day. Which may end in the once a year hangover. Shall see. If not I can make any calls needed.. used to be that way, not no more. haha. KD - which sites do we have? Because the leviathon is coming with us we might grab another adjoining if available.. Buffers are good.
We will bring some awesome ribs and booze and whatever else we are told to bring (within reason) ;D Plus Katy dids crockpot. Will have time friday to figure it out. Not much time before that.
If I remember right, six packs of beer are higher in PA. But cases are a little cheaper there than in CT, and add in the fact they have no bottle deposit. The weird distribution laws they have down there, cases only at package stores.
When me and my friend took a trip to Pottsville last year, we got five cases of Y for like 92 bucks. Cheaper than CT standards, unless you're getting rat piss.

Yah, poking around, booze is only slightly cheaper but the case deals here are better. That said, its probably a negligible savings overall...so I'll just bring a case of the gluten free stuff and some vodka.
If there's something you guys like that you can't get in the east, though, let me know before about 5pm tonight and I'll be glad to pick it up! (Yuengling, Iron City, Straub...?)
ODB is no longer coming. Yay Levon!!! It's campsite 26 aaannnddd 28? Maybe? The second one is under Katy's name because they wouldn't let the same person book two sites. When we booked a few weeks ago, there was one or two more. There will only be 6 of us sleeping there now, so I think there is more than enough space!
Fawn/ Quacker and LD/ Heather- will you guys be around for lunch?

I'm space 30, Bonz and I have 1 site inbetween ours. I looked last night for you guys, and there's only 1 site left on the other side of the campground. There's only gonna be a total of 4 tents now, so 2 sites is going to be perfect space wise.
We still plan on being there. Scary thought... Quacker has to plan and pack everything and I'll be along for the ride with ten minoots to throw some shiitz in a bag...

Originally I was thinking showing up after the Occupy Hartford meeting in the afternoon, but:
- @danburyweather
Midday thoughts: Severe WX tomorrow night, potential for very strong winds, especially western CT from 8p-midnight. CAUTION w/ outdoor plans
- We may or may not also have plans in the evening back in Mass., so who knows.
- It's four hours round trip from my house to the forest. How long do I have to stay out there to justify it?
Hey now... She's from North Smithfield now. That's like moving from Yonkers to a Manhattan penthouse. Understand about the weather - could be dicey however we will still be there. Tell Ms. Heather to tentatively block off 10/22. Girly fishing day part 2. : )
Oh LD... so you two recall on the Newport cruise.. the big house at the end of the island with the light house - that is now owned by the ambulance chasing lawyer? He got busted the other night for a DUI. He might have to change up his ads a bit.
