Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
If you guys definitely decide to camp there, I AM SO IN. It's exactly 5mi from my old house in Waterford, so I know the area like the back of my hand. (It's also 5mi from Millstone nuclear plant, in case you feel like protesting to give Ralph Nader a day off.)
OMG - I AM SOOOO CRAVING A LOBSTER ROLL & A SAUSAGE GRINDER NOW!
There are some fantastic seafood sellers nearby if we want to do a big grilled dinner on the beach. Oh, and for the bookworms, Niantic has an amazing used book store that's actually 5 or 6 small houses on 1 property, and ALL of them are crammed full! That's where I got some 1st editions of Faulkner & D.H. Lawrence... trust me, the place is a literary treasure trove, less than 2mi from the camping area.
Do any Southern/Southeastern/Mid-Atlantic folks want to join the caravan & make a road trip out of this? I can get from TN-CT in ~16hrs. Who wants to split driving & gas??? ;D
How many nights would be appropriate? Would 1 be enough or should we do 2? Also, if 2, would it be Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun? If you can't tell, I'm a planner.
That works best for me, so that's great! Holls, you have to help me recruit/blackmail/shame/convince people into going to this when you're up here for Newport.
^ That shouldn't be difficult, ESPECIALLY if I drive up for it. I'll just pick up crazy Inforoosters along the way! And if MikeD comes, he's got the big truck that we can stuff lots of people into (or on top of the roof - like luggage!).
Besides, people rarely decline a chance to see me drunk in person camp out at the beach! Yay for free entertainment happy ocean-camping fun time!
^ Are you guys wanting a mountain-y state park or a beach-y area? Hammonassett (in Madison) and Rocky Point (East Lyme) are both nice. I never camped there since I lived on the CT coast, but family & friends would stay on the beach in Lyme and it's beeeeeautiful. ;D
I asked around at work today, and a lot of people said to go to Rocky Point. I checked it out online and I really like it, and it's got a beach for those that wanna go swimming. Anyone have objections?
1. I am a CT-resident, so we can put it under my name if y'alll don't get me arrested. Also, I am pretty sure that's the price per spot. So if we got two spots for 8 people, for example, it would only be $5 per person.
I'd rather Rocky Point. I have never camped there, but I have heard good things. A few of my friends camped at Hammonassett on Memorial Day a few years ago(I went for daytime fun, but didn't stay overnight) and I wasn't a fan. Yes, the proximity to the beach was awesome, but the actual camping area was like a trailer park. It was just lot next to lot next to lot. No nature or privacy between them. Random pic:

Yes! Yes! Yes! Get the Southern contingent in on this! Any NY and environs people can take the train in and I will pick them up!
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Privacy is the only thing i'm worried about when it comes to Rocky Neck, after looking up pics from there and seeing their campsite map. It depends how many people end up going, if we're going to be getting 4 or more campsites, I'm not very concerned cause we'll be surrounded by friends, and not random campers. If it's a smaller group, Townsend State Park in southern Vermont was my backup option. It's very private and wooded, and in beautiful wilderness. A lot of the sites also have platforms for your tent (which rules)
^ I have a Canon; others do, too. Come up & give an instructional workshop... on the beach! While we camp out! You can write it off as a business expense!

Haha. That would be great if I could do that. My job responsibilities have actually changed quite a bit. We starting building cinema cameras and I got moved to group where I only deal with motion picture and television production. So while I could still give a still photography workshop, the company would not pay for it.
I'd prefer a small wooded place over a packed, open, beachy site, actually, but I can do either. It's a little past Mt Snow it looks like? So that would probably be 3.5ish hours for me.

I went to Mount Snow for my cousin's bachelor party. Our friend bedded the 60+ year old German woman who rented us the house. "It was weird" (his words). GOOD TIMES.

Flanzo- This is the party where you phone drowned in the hot tub? Also, are you going to be frolicking with us for this??
Matt- you going to go for the German woman too??
I have a time share at Mount Snow Grand Summit, but it's not exactly camping... I am not sure if we'd be interested in that? Also one at the Killington Grand.

I think I that I am closer to Katy than you are! And it's not a matter of where the woods are, it's about finding a camp site. They do not come hand in hand.

Yep, its official...Quack Club isn't happening for me next month (this makes me SUPER BUMMED) but its my first week at my new job AND I just got summoned for jury duty that week! I think the universe doesn't want me to have any fun in July...
But on the plus side, I am DEFINITELY in for the Sept camping trip. Thank you guys for planning this, I would've been so sad if I didn't get to do anything fun with yinz this summer!!

Ha. I think that would be fun. But we aren't real life friends. Actually I'm pretty sure he doesn't even live here. Because from talking to him we both frequent all of the same places, and I've never seen him.
Maybe I'll talk my sister into camping. I love it when there are two Bonnies in the same place.
