Man oh man am I ever getting pumped for this. Today I took off to Manchester with the three loveliest ladies on Inforoo, Popsiclesarah, JHoinTN, and Druid. We cruised around the farm to see how everything was going, new setups, and to snap a few more pictures. Along the way we found a store that is out of business that will be perfect for our meetup point.
Southern Family Markets is the place
Sign as viewed from the road
Here is a shot of the building
Driving southbound on HWY 41/Hillsboro Blvd this will be on your right. It is right next to the Coffee County Bank
Here is a shot of the sign as standing in our meeting lot
Notice the address on top of the sign is 2070. If you are using a GPS use 2070 Hillsboro Blvd, Manchester TN 37355 Notice the thermometer on the sign too. Hydrate before you get here
Here is a mapquest link to look at, the pin is at 2070 Hillsboro Blvd mapq.st/igHt9w
Speaking of maps, many have asked me about getting off the interstate in Manchester. Last year I had the VIP hang tag and was able to get through the police barricade in Manchester, not where the directions say to get off. This may be the case for all, or I may have gotten lucky. Coming from Nashville I will get off at exit 97, left at the top of the ramp, road dead ends into HWY 41, head right/south on 41 and this takes you right in. I can't offer any advice about folks coming from Chattanooga or anywhere south east.
In our lot facing left (where I will be coming from) there is a Ford dealership and a Family Video on the same side of the road
Podunk rundown hotel that is across the street to the left
And a big lot and a blue warehouse across the street to the right
I will be in a red 98 GMC Sierra (1500) with a topper on the back. I will hopefully set up an EZ up too in the lot.
I have called all those I have numbers for and left a message with everyone. Please let me know if you haven't received a call. The exceptions are: Azzah - Calls to Canada are expensive for me, I thought my phone had an international plan, but I don't Mattseven/Matt Wolf: I txted the iPad number you gave but have not heard back CKS - you are taking a shuttle Druid, JHo, Sarah - you were there today too, don't be silly Bunny - you are meeting us and driving from my house, my house so you don't really have a choice ;D
If anyone else is missed on this, please let me know. This was also a check to make sure I have the right phone number for ya.
Now, this is the final check for names and cars. If something is off, I need to know (just number of cars, a total inforooster people count isn't relevant to the plan and for those four days, we are all one).
The Official Log Of Mike D's Official Camp Inforoo VIP 2011's Official Members . . . . YEAH!!!
VIP RV's - I have had this smiley for way too long and finally get to use it
campcrew iSkew & Sassbox & Bamabelle pigpen
The quiet group (by quiet I am referring to those who specifically said they will not be raging all night and want to get to sleep a little earlier, not volume levels)
Dreamingtree - 2 cars JHo - 1 car ktmtfl - 1 car Druid - 1 car cneintn - 1 car crazykittensmile - (shuttle) Azzah - parking car with us, but pitching a tent (giggedy giggedy) in GA, this will be a buffer spot for CKS to use first as she will have no car, but want to be in that section. Anyone else shuttling in may need a little bit of this, but we will see.
Anyone else requesting the Quiet Kidz Korner, lemme know by Monday night please.
I have all of us in our groups of 7-8 cars. I am not gonna say em cause they still may change. I will explain further once we get there but there will be an assigned lead car for each group. This way we have 5 smaller groups who all have each others phone nunbers, not one big one. Once we get through the tollbooths we will make sure we are in numerical order, according to Mike D's homemade windshield tags
In response to those who asked me if I need anything for my efforts, yes I do. I talked to pshanley11 and he is flying in and taking an early shuttle. He doesn't want to hassle with a cooler since he has the meal plan. He needs a few folks to help out with drinks. Sarah and I are getting him a case of water to keep in our cooler. If anyone else knows they have room for Gatorade, juice, anything else, shoot him a message and see if he needs anything. He doesn't drink alcohol, but has requested non-alcoholic beer - any volunteers?
Nametags for us on Thursday? I honestly don't think I have time to get em and make em. What do yall think? If someone steps up you get to see my list
Any other questions, concerns, comments, complaints, or conundrums?
this post has been brought to you by Inforoos newest celebrity couple - PIXIESTYX (matching outfits, both have our tour shirts on)
Can't wait to see everyone, Mike D and the Lovely Popsicle Sarah
EDIT: I will be having to officially close signups for our camp Tuesday June 7th at noon Central time. I have a fair amount of stuff to print out that needs to be 100% finalized. If someone happens to show up though I will have a few extra copy's of everything so you won't be told no or turned away.
Also, don't forget that Bonnaroo is on central time!!
It was very cool to talk to Mike D last night. That inspired me to do a dry run of loading up the Civic, and think everything will work out nicely. (Can't pack it up for real as a bunch of the bulky stuff is going in a cargo bag strapped on the roof, and there's no real good way to actually secure it...which is assuming anyone actually wants to steal my camp chairs and tent.)
Today's tasks include getting some homebrew into 2L bottles.
Side note - getting a medium-large cooler into a car like a Honda Civic is a perpetual pain in the ass. Pretty much has to go in the back seat.
I've been looking at maps all morning. We're driving from Pittsburgh, but I think this will apply to anyone from far enough north and west that the Google Maps/logical route takes you through Louisville and then Nashville. Does anyone try to use back roads for the last portion of this trip? I'm specifically looking at the fact that going to Nashville takes you a little bit out of the way, and we'd also be hitting there at the time of the morning rush hour.
If I add Lebanon, TN as a waypoint, it shaves 10 miles off my trip, adds 8 minutes to the estimated total time, but it pretty neatly misses Nashville. If people don't think the ~7am rush hour is bad there, then it's probably not worth messing with the smaller roads.
41 crosses I-24 twice north of Manchester. The first is at Exit 97, where Mike D suggested getting off. The next is Exit 105. That's where my hangtag instructs me to exit, and looks like either will work well, so don't stress if you can't get off at 97.
From there, 41/Hillsboro Blvd is a straight shot. It does go through Manchester, and passes some potentially useful destinations including Sonic and Advance Auto Parts. No one should stop you, as the VIP entrance is further still from there.
Here's "my map" - skipping Nashville, and getting off I24 at Exit 105.
Dflipse - If you are coming from Lebanon around Nashville take 840 from Lebanon to Murfreesboro. This will save a little time, but more importantly, there will be much much less traffic. 840 is awesome for those coming in anywhere east of Nashville on 40.
dflispe - We come from Pittsburgh every year. Ive never had a problem around that time in Nashville but its always good to have a backup plan or try to avoid it just in case.
Side note - Pittsburgh will be well represented this year at Roo and that makes me very happy

I have sent out the initial diagram. On this it looks like 2 rows, but this is only to fit on a single sheet of paper. 19 will be between 17 and 21 and 20 between 18 and 22, making one long row.
holls - there were for of us, do we each get a box or do we share one?
manya - thanks a bunch. I believe O'douls is what he said he likes, but I don't know how many types of non-alcoholic beer there are.
Successful trip to Total Wine got a twelve pack of O'douls. Let me know if you or anyone else needs anything, we are still running around town tomorrow finishing up our errands.

So computer question.... I got a brand new netbook and don't have internet on my phone, so if I bring the netbook will I be able to get wifi at the campsite? I will just want to use in the morning to look at the weather and the schedules for the day. I don't plan on carrying it around with me.

Yes, I read somewhere on the 'Roo page that they ARE offering free WiFi on the farm. I'm debating whether to bring my iPad.
But if you choose not to bring it, no worries. Last year, they had laptops in the air-conditioned VIP lounge (tent #2, near the VIP showers) for all to use.
I have a perma-grin at work cuz I know Im leaving tomorrow morning and get to see all of you Thursday!!! Oh and I guess the music and stuff is cool too
Does anyone has any alternate contact info for midwestdeadhead, roomantis or zigroo? I have tried contacting them, but have not heard back. Does anyone know of any updates on these folks? I have shot zigroo and deadhead another email today. Roomantis requested inforoo PM's, but has not been online since May 26 i believe.
Our car tags are being printed off by the Lovely Popsiclesarah today. I know some of you have already left, others are still at home. If there are any last minute changes or questions for me, you all should have my cell phone from the emails I sent out so call or just email me back (ya hit reply all man). I will also be checking my PM's here through Thursday morning.
TWO FRIGGIN DAYS AND I GET TO SEE ALL YOUR SMILING FACES!!!!!!!!!
