We came across the overpass last year and made that right onto Bushy Branch. Directions on the Will Call Sheet say this: Directions from Will Call to Site From Will Call at Route 41/Route 55 intersection From the driveway turn right onto Hillsboro Rd. (Route 41) towards Route 55. Turn right on Route 55 and travel north approximately 1 mile. Cross over I-24. Turn right immediately after the I-24 interchange onto Ragsdale Road. Turn right from Ragsdale Road onto Bushy Branch Road. Follow signs to site.
will this be different than the overpass directions i got on mapquest?
i just put in the address of the radio station and bonnaroo's address and it looked like it took you down a block or so, made a left, went over the overpass and were basically right there...
and i thought the directions from will call to bonnaroo said when leaving go north 6.5 miles again, maybe taking you back to exit 105...not really sure...
Not that it is any of our business...and you certainly don't have to answer if you dont want to ....but since you brought it up....
Did you directly apply for a single press pass for yourself or did you have somoene apply for you that applies for a group of passes for someone else and you just tagged along? Is it as a member of the working press (ie. print journalism (mag or newspaper, radio, TV) or a blog or podcast? Or a PR/ad or publicity firm? Each are handeled differently ...and have diff access and rules.....so your email was deff NOT the same as mine......SO I am assuming we have diff agendas and access for the week......
I'm the music editor for an NC alt-weekly and I applied for two media passes (and alternately a photo pass) myself. When I applied, that position didn't exist and I was simply the music columnist, though I still handled all of the business of our music section.
My email didn't outline the accessible areas like becuhh's did, but I assume it's mostly all the same.
Here's an updated interview list for those looking to shoot pics:
Delta Spirit - 11am Friday Portugal. The Man - 3:45 Friday The Dillinger Escape Plan - 4pm Sunday High on Fire - 6:15 Sunday Hockey - TBD on Thursday The Knux - TBD on Thursday King Sunny Ade - TBD Coheed - TBD Passion Pit - TBD
do they always let media go side stage? i know the view isn't picture perfect but i don't care...would love to avoid feeling crowded...
Side stage isn't all that exciting...you're not actually ON the stage, you're on either side of it...most of which is blocked. Sometimes media can stand there to watch a show, sometimes they can't, it all depends on security and how packed it is with WHY? passes, etc.

Holy busy as sh!t, Batman!
Do you just want someone to shoot the interview like on your Picasa page? I can shoot your Delta Spirit interview, if you'd like.
B usually shoots pics during part of of the interview, and then sits down... While at Lolla, we made a few photog friends who asked to have the opportunity to shoot some pics. I didn't mind them taking pics, so I said sure... They ended up using the pics for their publications/websites.
Checking in...this will be my third 'Roo, and my second with a media pass (radio). I'll also be liveblogging at my show's blog at www.thezenarcade.com.
I have one media pass and one comp, but my friends have backed out so I'm coming down solo.
I have a DSLR and I got some great shots last year, even sans media pass. I considered renting a serious lens, but I figured I'll be hauling enough crap around.
Look forward to meeting everybody! We should really put together a text message list to let one another know when cool stuff is happening in the media area.
Oh, and...the e-mail I got on June 3 says that Will Call at WFTZ will open at 7AM, not 10AM. Who is right? (It definitely makes a difference in my travel plans.)
Oh no, I don't mind sharing at all. I'm curious as to how it all works anyway. I'm in radio. Last year, I emailed the guy from Music Allies to see if we could do a promotion to give away tix, but it had surpassed the date so he said he'd let me come check out Roo as Media last year anyway and gave me 2 Media Passes. I got the same e-mail as this year... plus was told to pick up my tix at the same place, the radio station/will call in Manchester. This year, I emailed/applied early and did a promotional giveaway with 2 of my stations here. He approved me 2 Media/Staff Passes and I asked for a 3rd which was also approved. I got the same email as last year, last week with the above about the tix providing me access to blah blah blah for the whole festival. I'm assuming I will be going through the same process as last year. Drove overnight, got to the station for will call and waited til the doors opened, waited in line. My guest and I both got Media bands at will call and were given 2 comp tickets. Drove to the farm and went through the tollbooth where our tickets were scanned/ripped/taken whatever and we got a 2nd General Admission Roo wristband. Then we camped just the same as everyone else, just got to be side stage at "This" "That" and "The Other Tent"(s) if we wanted and got to access the press area to the side of the "Which" stage.
Ahh...ok...so you are more on the promotions side of the house...PR/marketing/advertising...and in radio. So you don't actually fill out a Media Cred Application for coverage et al and send it in seperately etc......for individual coverage of the festival.....
And we have always had access to the canteen and bar behind the What stage...but it isn't free....you have to pay. It may be a bit cheaper than the prices in Centeroo....and the food looked a bit better....tho I don't think I ever ate there.....I would DEFINITELY recommend using the media portos tho...they are almost ALWAYS MUCH cleaner than the regular festie ones! ;D

interesting... i already made plans to not be there so early, so hopefully they do open earlier and by the time i get there, it will be smooth sailing.

Way to go.

That's great, I'm sure there will be lots to capture.

Are you going to the brunch? We were going to meet up there and head to the orientation together.

It says 7 am for Thurs too? Cause it IS 7 am for every other day (Fri-Sun) just 10 am for Thurs......could you post it??

Yes! This will be fun...there should be enough of us this year to get a group InfoRoo Press Photo! LOL! It will just have to be before 11:20 or so..... ;D
That would be much better! And more in line with past years...I wonder if between the 3 and 4th they realized they wouldn't have everything ready till mid-morning on Thurs and moved the time till laster on Thurs to make sure everything was ready to go....who knows. I'd be happier with an earlier pickup but I'll deal either way!
Already heard back from my query; it is, in fact, 10:00AM on Thursday. He said he didn't know they had made that change until he had already sent out the first batch of instructions.
I'm glad I read this thread.
And the brunch sounds awesome--I'm gonna go RSVP right now.
Hey all, it's about that time, several hours to go before work gets out and then it's time to fly.. I hope to run into some of you guys! Good luck with your coverage and Happy Bonnaroo!! ;D
Any other fun perks for press that aren't common knowledge? This is the first time I've seen anything about going into the Centeroo exit and standing on the side of the stage if you get an escort. Anything else?

as of today i'm officially working with the cincinnati enquirer as an affiliate blogger, they'll be using some of my bonnaroo coverage for www.cincinnati.com
also mike farris interview confirmed for sunday 10:15 am in the media tent
Anyone else get the word that NIN, Mars Volta, Beasties and Bruce are gonna be limited photography? I was suspecting NIN and MV cause they were at VooDoo.....and it kinda makes sense about Bruce too...but the Beasties kinda surprised me but they have the same PR reps as NIN/MV so that kinda makes sense....

Just curious, the map of "how to get to the media tent" that was emailed out today. Did anyone else have trouble getting the link to work? If you are able to get it, would you PM me or DM me on Twitter? @okcjohnson
