Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
We'll definitely try to be there at the brunch. I'm busy setting up our interview schedule right now, so I'll know more once we settle things out.
For any of you photographers out there... If you'd like to shoot pics of our interviews, we'd def like to have you there. I wouldn't mind having some pro shots, and it will also give you an opportunity to shoot:
Delta Spirit Portugal. The Man The Dillinger Escape Plan King Sunny Ade Coheed and Cambria Passion Pit High On Fire The Knux Alberta Cross (Maybe)
Some are still "probables," but there will be good photo ops! (And a SH!TLOAD of prep work still to be done! OI!!)

So I have a photo and media pass but I don't need photo access and don't have an SLR camera. Does anyone out there want to trade another media pass for the photo pass? Just look for the guy with the Kodak hat on with shaggy hair...

They put the wristband on you so you can't really do a swap.

And without an SLR....you won't get in the pits....why did you ask for a photo pass if you weren't going to need/use it? Just curious...cause I had to wait for years before I got a photo pass @ Roo cause they try to limit the number of photogs in the pits....and I'm sure someone else could really have used it.

Also, they make you sign a photo release form, it would probably be a breach of contract to trade your photo wristband. It could potentially get both you and the person you trade it to into trouble down the road.
If I weren't worried about the potential ramifications, I'd be all over your offer. They don't give photo bands to college publications and I'd love to be able to shoot Beastie Boys or Yeah Yeah Yeahs up close. I've only shot one festival before (Rites of Spring in Nashville), but the photos from those shows are among my favorites.
And to be quite honest....I wouldn't be surprised (tho it IS getting quite down to the wire now) to have some of the bigger acts require seperate photo releases....tho Roo may have enough pull that they can get away with telling the artists that their festival release is enough....but I know at VooDoo last year both NIN AND Mars Volta required seperate Photo Releases be submitted via their own PR reps IN ADVANCE of the festival in order to shoot them...and your name HAD to be on THEIR list to get in the pits for those shoots....with a seperate sticker for security and seperate check in. And at press check in STP required a seperate photo release as well but we just filled it out as we checked in and there was no seperate security or anything......has anyone gotten any seperate emails about special releases for any other acts?
I had photo passes for 2007/2008 and was not required to sign a separate release for any bands. However, I wouldn't be surprised if you do need to for NIN, since they really protect Rob Sheridan's photo rights (he's their official photog). We'll see, I guess.

I shot a few musicians while you were interviewing last year (Tegan & Sara, Brendan Benson, and one other, I think)...if I see you this year, I'll come up and introduce myself.

I remember at orientation latst year them making reference to only a chosen few getting to shoot one particular show...pretty sure it was Metallica....and that those that were "approved and on the list" knew who they were and that everyone else was NOT on the list and not able to shoot them....soooo...there was apparently something special going on with that last year...I assume it was the same sort of deal as with VooDoo and NIN et al or either hand picked peeps by Big Hassle....either way you had to have some special deal to get on "the list" to shoot them.....Wonder if there are others every year and how you go about getting "on the list" so to speak...LOL! ;D
last year, photo access was VERY limited for both Metallica and Pearl Jam. Not many people got to shoot those two bands. I believe nobody got to shoot Kanye West, but who really cares about Kanye West? Radiohead required approval from their PR at both Outside Lands and All Points West last year. Beck, Tom Petty, and Steve Winwood all required special approval at Outside Lands. The funny thing is that only about 3 photogs even showed up to shoot Steve Winwood. I was one of them and was turned away. I have no idea if the other 2 got in.

yes yes, the last thing I want to do is screw anything up for the two of us who are going. I requested a photo pass because I'm planning on running two big photo spreads in two separate magazines and the photography is going to be key, but the camera I was going to use is out of commission and my photographer is shooting film. I just thought I'd ask and perhaps if I would have waited another 5 mins before posting that I would have realized myself that the wristbands are being put on our wrists when we get there. Anyhow, thanks for the feedback and see you all there.

Dang son, I write and shoot for print and I didn't get one. Don't ask for it if you don't need/can't use it.

I shot a NIN show back in November and didn't have to sign one.

My friend got his email confirmation but it just says media credential. Didn't say anything about comp tickets. Last year, it clearly said comp tickets. Did anyone just request press and not get tickets or did everyone who requested press get a confirmation for press AND comp tix? Thanks for the info.
LAST YEAR: ------------------ TICKETS ------------------ 2 Comp Ticket
------------------ CREDENTIALS ------------------ 1 Media Wristband
THIS YEAR: ------------------ CREDENTIALS ------------------ 1 Media Wristband
There is confusion because in the past you needed both--or at least they gave you both. We were issued tickets in the past as well. I asked this about this myself.
Thanks for clarifying. I was hoping his e-mail had a comp ticket with it so it could go to my little brother. He still doesn't have a ticket but we are both still DEFINITELY driving to Roo. My friend's comp ticket was going to be my last hope of getting my little bro a free ticket this year. But as it appears, my friend is only getting the wrist band. Just a thought, if anyone happens to randomly find out they have an EXTRA comp please do PM me!!!!!!!! It's getting close!!! Maybe take my number if you happen to stumble across one! xoxoxo!
Yeah...I noticed that slight wording change this year too about the wristbands and comp tix.....I wondered if that was what was behind Higgi's sudden change in status from 2 media passes to one media pass and one comp ticket.....I think they are cutting down on comp tix this year....and realizing that some media types go VIP or ask for passes just to get the extra comp tix.....idk.......or maybe they just had an upsurge in media requests this year.....
They usually have a sponsored batting cage set up in the VIP area next to the media area....each year for the past couple of years they have had a media/press batting challenge/tournament for the press/media (for those who want to participate) It's at a certain time(s) and I have no idea what kind of actual turnout/participation they have....I get the impression it's more for the PR/festie press/vip level/wannabes to impress more than the run of the mill working press corp but I could be wrong......
Not that it is any of our business...and you certainly don't have to answer if you dont want to ....but since you brought it up....
Did you directly apply for a single press pass for yourself or did you have somoene apply for you that applies for a group of passes for someone else and you just tagged along? Is it as a member of the working press (ie. print journalism (mag or newspaper, radio, TV) or a blog or podcast? Or a PR/ad or publicity firm? Each are handeled differently ...and have diff access and rules.....so your email was deff NOT the same as mine......SO I am assuming we have diff agendas and access for the week......
I'm not sure who everyone is getting their credentials through but to clarify at least through music allies, my will call e-mail stated, "Your media passes grant you access to Bonnaroo for all four days, along with access to the backstage restaurant and lounge, and the press tent with a wireless signal and daily press conferences with artists."
this is the same thing i got...
i applied for 2 media passes and 2 photo passes for my blog but ended up just getting 1 media pass and no photo passes which is fine because i don't have a professional camera anyways
i didn't realize how close the radio station is to the festival grounds - after looking on mapquest it is basically right across the highway, parallel to the farm, but they're making you exit way early, i know because of traffic but...
after we pick up our media passes at the station can we just go on the overpass that takes you right into new bushy branch rd?
