I'm sure everyone is, while not joking about wanting them there, surely doesn't believe they actually have a chance of being on.
However, I'd much rather see Manson or Gwar over The Dead or moe. The Allman Bros....that would be a close call.

i just brought up the marilyn manson thing up, because should bonnaroo decide to bring back another headliner that leans towards the "darkside" and by this i just mean harder rock/metal/progressive, and with metallica quickly denying that they would be playing, marilyn manson while he seems to be a perfect fit for ozzfest, i'm sure his live show is an experience in itself, but personally, i could care less about him, which makes me think of someone else they could look into, how about alice cooper, personally i wouldn't look forward to him there but i don't think i'd mind if he was there...

but yeah - manson is an entertainer in a high degree. like the music or not, he is there to put on a show. sure, he really milks the "religion is bad" bit, but all in all - it's usually a good time.
one time i saw him he rose up from the ground on a cross made of flaming televisions in front of a giant blinking sign that says "drugs"... i mean - you dont see that everyday.
I saw Manson on this tour as well, and a few other times also. I cant remember, but this may have been the tour with A Perfect Circle opening (mine memory is shot), that was a sweet show, we were like "who is this APC band".....then BAM!...Maynard!
But anyways he does put on a great show, but I really dont think its a great idea for Bonnaroo.
BTW, Mechanical Animals is by far, one of my favorite albums of the past ten years. Very underrated. IMO.
my opinion, Allison Krouse and Robert Plant will be the opening act for a surprise Led Zepelen reuniun show. It just makes since.....why would Robert Plant just tour with a bluegrass band?? After a very great reuniun ? Tennessee folks know how to tease, lol. For the $$$$$$

GWAR is a fun and unique show.
Being closed-minded and ignorant to a band based on their fan base is much more damaging to the "Roo vibe" than encouraging diversity and a fun and interesting show.

Absolutely... Mechanical Animals is far and away his best album, and I hold it up as one of my favs of the last ten years, also. Karma for being like minded on that forgotten gem.
Regarding Return to Forever reunion from billboard.com:
Legendary jazz/rock fusion group Return To Forever is reuniting for the first time in 25 years for a summer tour of North America and Europe.
Beginning this June, the classic lineup of keyboardist Chick Corea, bassist Stanley Clarke, guitarist Al Di Meola and drummer Lenny White is scheduled to play between 30 and 40 concerts across North America, says booking agent Jack Randall with Boston-based Ted Kurland Associates.
"It is happening," Randall tells Billboard.com. "They met several times in the summer and early fall and ultimately decided to do it."
After a month's worth of theater and small amphitheaters gigs in such major U.S. cities as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston and New York, Return To Forever will travel to Europe in July. The act will then return to North America for additional performances in mid-August, according to Randall.
The jazz group didn't have any festival dates confirmed at deadline, but "there may be a couple of festivals they play in North America, and certainly a significant number in Europe," the agent says.
"They're not going to play any West Coast festivals," he continues. "If we do any, they'll probably be in the Northeast."
An official tour itinerary is expected to be finalized by mid-January. The jazz act does not plan to feature an opening act on any dates.
In support of the upcoming tour, Return To Forever will release an anthology of remixed and remastered songs from such classic albums as "Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy," "Where Have I Known You Before," "No Mystery" and "Romantic Warrior." Additional details about the anthology have not been released.
Beginning in June...hmm....
Maybe a couple of festivals...hmmmm...
Announcing itinerary in mid January...hmmmmmmmm....

GWAR is one of the greatest theatrical performances I've ever seen. Man talk about an amazing time. Wear your white shirt and change your contacts. I'd love to see them again though I dont listen to their music. It would be a little weird a roo though.

i've never heard of return to forever, although i have heard the name chick corea, i think he's played with bela fleck, so they're fusion jazz i take it, this may sound stupid but can someone explain fusion to me, of course i understand the jazz part, but are there any bands i might know that they sound like, i am somewhat familiar with the jazz scene because of bonnaroo, i know band's/artists like john scofield, mmw, ornette coleman, john coltrane, i never made it into the jazz tent last year, but my guess is this return to forever are probably too big too play in there, maybe a latenight show in a bigger tent, or they could expand the jazz tent, maybe make it into a blues club/jazz mix? that'd be pretty cool...

Return to Forever was a very successful jazz fusion group of the 70's, and along with Weather Report and the Mahavishnu Orchestra helped shape the genre. It also helped propel its principal members (Corea, Clarke and Di Meola) into the spotlight as contemporary jazz masters. RTF's recordings continue to be highly influential to jazz culture. As for the term "jazz-fusion", it refers to the amalgamation of jazz with other forms of popular music, most commonly rock. As opposed to more straight ahead forms of jazz (think 50's-era Miles or Coltrane), fusion often incorporates rock instrumentation (electric guitars and bass, synths, etc.), emphasizes the backbeat as rock did thus creating a groovier music, and moves away from traditional jazz harmonies and compositional structures towards those of rock (or even more experimental realms). That's a very basic description of jazz fusion. Hope that helps!

Nope Karma from me...I feel everyone on the different line-ups and keepin it fresh but Manson...I enjoyed the TOOL set as much as anyone. Actually a huge TOOL fan but at Bonnaroo I think alot of us hell maybe most of us that come eery year come as much for the vibes good times and chill atmosphere as much as for the music. That is why we get tickets before the line-up is announced. So karma to ya and keep Bonnaroo as pure as possible Bonnaroo Becki
