Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
The rumors start coming out of the woodworks around now, so I figured I would start a thread to keep tabs of all the rumors until the actual lineup come out and compare to see which rumors were bogus. So, if anyone has a rumored artist, just post it in here and I shall update the list on the first page. This is who we have seen rumored thus far:
-Pearl Jam -My Morning Jacket (Pollstar had listed them for the Friday the 13th, but took it down the next day) -Pat Green (This is the first artist Pollstar has posted under "Bonnaroo") -Led Zeppelin and Metallica- Superfly has denied that either one of these bands are headlining the festival in 08. -Robert Plant and Alison Krauss - The Tennessean reports that the duo will play Bonnaroo in 08. -B.B. King - According to his offical tour dates he is playing Bonnaroo in 08. -Avett Brothers, Umphrey's McGee and Disco Biscuits- These bands were asked personally by a couple Inforoo members if they were playing Bonnaroo this year and said that they were. Time will tell if this is true. -Willie Nelson - According to Pollstar and Willie's tour page, Willie is playing Bonnaroo this year. - The Lee Boys -Their website says that they are playing Bonnaroo this year. - Ghostland Observatory - This info can be found on their fansite. Its not set in stone, but it is very possible they are playing Bonnaroo this year. - Jose Gonzalez - If you go to his website and tours it is listed as him playing the fest this year.

Friends with a local band named The Last Straw, and have said that bonnaroo got in touch with them to play bonnaroo this coming year. I know it is a small band but they have to go ahead and fill up the smaller stages also. I think they are suppose to be playing some gigs with Lynyrd Skynyrd in the spring time (if I am not mistaken) so they are starting to get a pretty good name for themselves.
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."
Jack Johnson heading a night??????? Don't get me wrong, he can put on a great show, but no where near the caliber needed to headline a night, especially on Sunday night. Sorry just don't see that happening. Maybe you and I have different meanings of the word headline?

I'd say it's more than likely that The Mars Volta will be appearing, with the new album release and the huge success of their show two years ago. I'd say it's worth calling them a rumor

^^^ I'm thinking it will be Robert Plant and Alison Krauss on a stage in the afternoon. Not a rumor, but a strong feeling, based on an interview I read that said they are planning a Spring tour, but they wouldn't give any details...

They are best of buds. Hanging around Nash, singing together. Very good possibility. So now if we can get Jimmy Page to show up, we know John Paul Jones won't be a problem. Throw in Jason Bonham and we got a band! ;D

How cool would it be if they planned that, but didn't tell ANYONE about it, and then there you are, standing in Centeroo at like 2AM on a Saturday night trying to figure out which band to see, when suddenly you hear THAT coming from the unscheduled Which Stage.

I get what you're saying. Allow me to qualify my theory:
1) Jack Johnson has not played Bonnaroo since 2005, a crowded show on the Which Stage (that was made more memorable by the tree-climbers). It will have been three years in 2008 and he is 'due' for a Roo appearance. 2) He is very popular with a yet-growing fanbase. He has no problem drawing 20,000+ regularly to his headlining tour stops. Recent Sunday headliners Panic and Lesh, two acts that also have strong bases, often play to crowds half that size. 3) Jack Johnson's music seems like it would fit the mood for what the promoters have been going for on Sundays. With a new record out next year he will have more music to draw an extended set from. 4) It does seem like the Sunday headliner/closer tends to be an act with a hardcore enough fanbase to stick around & remain vibrant, but not a huge act that would draw 70,000+ crowds like a Friday/Saturday. Jack Johnson seems to fit this mold. 5) As mentioned earlier, he will have a new album out next year. He has said recently that there will be more electric guitars on this album which might help bloster a headlining bid. 6) Plenty of room for special guest appearances at a jack Johnson show...G Love, Donovan Frankenreiter, Matt Costa, ALO, anybody else hanging around.
Don't get me wrong, I like Jack Johnson and all. I think he'd be great at Bonnaroo but headline... not a chance, not even with guests. HE would be the guest.
Phil can headline not because of any crowd size at his shows but because he's a f*cking living legend. Of course he has a strong fan base, to put it lightly, these are dead-heads.
I agree about Widespread though, time for somebody new.

I think Jack Johnson will definitely be back at Bonnaroo in 2008. He will most likely play in the afternoon on the What Stage.
I think Ben Harper should be back, but he may not. He didn't play any new material from his latest album, Lifeline, which makes me think someone asked him not to play any of it because they wanted him back for next year, or it could be because the album wasn't released at the time. He also played in two of the best sets from this past Bonnaroo, which makes me think he might not be back so soon. Note - he has played Bonnaroo in back-to-back years before, the very first two.
The one band I want there the most is Led Zeppelin. I think it could be possible, that is, if they decide to do more than one show. I also think it's possible, now that Bonnaroo owns the land, to have just a Led Zeppelin show on the farm. If Zeppelin only does that one show in London, then I could see Robert Plant being at Bonnaroo. He might play with his band, I think they're called the Strange Sensation, and maybe have a guest appearance by Alison Krauss for a few songs, he could play an entire set with her and his/her band, or Alison may play a set with Union Station again. If Zeppelin or Plant aren't there, then it would definitely be a treat to have Jimmy Page play with the Black Crowes. But I don't want both Plant playing solo and Page playing with the Crowes, because if you have those two so close to each other, at the same festival, and there's no Zeppelin, then something is seriously wrong.
I'm starting to believe that this Pearl Jam rumor/unofficial confirmation is true. Call me naive or gullible, but even though the only proof I have is by the word of someone I don't know, I'd feel better if I had written/audio/video proof from something official, which no one can present me with at this time. When Jan/Feb rolls around, and if Pearl Jam is on that bill, I give you many props and love, whoever you are that first let this unofficial confirmation out. And you can tell me, I told you so.
I think Neil Young could be back, he could definitely headline, although I'd want someone bigger and more rare to be headlining (like Zeppelin or Cream). Not to say that Neil isn't big enough or a legend (he's both of those obviously), but played a few years ago, which is why I want him to play, just not headline. My dream would be for him to open for Pearl Jam. But I would be just fine if CSNY was headlining too.
The recent Clapton/Winwood news really gets me excited also. Maybe not as much as Zeppelin, but this is still a show I would love to see at Bonnaroo. Whether it was Blind Faith, Cream or Clapton, I think it's definitely something Superfly should be looking into. Winwood obviously played Bonnaroo in 2004, so I don't see him doing another solo show.
That's all for now, gotta go do some drinking and karoaking.
He didn't play any new material from his latest album, Lifeline, which makes me think someone asked him not to play any of it because they wanted him back for next year, or it could be because the album wasn't released at the time.
In a recent interview, he said that he didn't play anything off the new album because it hadn't been released yet. It takes away some of the anticipation of the new CD if he plays the songs live before it comes out.

I'd really like to see Ben Harper get the spot on the Which Stage for a latenight show, but assuming that since he played in the Super Jam latenight this past year, I don't think he'd get scheduled for latenight 2 years in a row, but I hope that I'm wrong...

Led Zeppelin Pearl Jam
I walked out of Lollapalooza when Pearl Jam was playing in a fit of disgust! It was totally evident that they were only going through the motions, and that's not cool at all for a headliner. I really hope that they don't play Bonnaroo, or we might get The Police round 2.

^Thats not good to hear. Thats why I love widespread panic, they always put on a hell of a show. And we wonder why roo' adds them to the bill every year. oh and Gov't Mule. I have faith that whomever they get will kick a$$

An Arcade Fire related bit:
At their most recent shows in America, Win has been saying that this would be the last time they played here for a couple years, so the chances of an AF appearance may be low.
Post by BrokenLight on Nov 13, 2007 17:52:56 GMT -5
yeah, i remember arcade fire saying that at the columbus show now that i think about it, i thought they'd be good at bonnaroo, then i saw that show, and felt they definitely belonged there as either a latenight show, or maybe even play the slot the white stripes had this past year, they have some good lights in their show, so i thought it should be dark or dusk when they play, but i was really wasted on jack and cokes that night, so i guess i forgot about them saying that they would be out of the states for a couple years to work on a new album, and now that you brought it up, i just remembered
